Seems useful. However, is it used by some teachers unimaginatively as something of a babysitter/time filler? Yes, the learners, as you have suggested, will work together, but apart from reading English will they be using any particular target language. I suppose much more elaborate activities could be created to enhance the use of TL. This of course would take up significant preparation time.
Russell, I teach online - open entry open exit for each student so they are all doing things at different times based on their own personal schedules. So once you exceed the maximum number of students (50 for free account or more for paid account), what happens? Does Kahoot lock out any more students or do the first ones just fall off the report and the game can continue indefinitely?
Jane. I didn't realise there is a 50 student limit . My account is quite old and I don't have that limit. Do you have more than 50 students in one session? If you use Kahoot for homework try Quizziz, it might work better,,, www.teachertrainingvideos.com/quizizz_complete_training
@@ttvRussell Hi, Russell, thanks for responding. Actually, I am looking for something better to help my open entry, open exit classes. I love the way Kahoot looks. But even if I do the "Challenge" where online students can do the quiz at different times, their end date list choices are very short. I need it to run for a year at a time at least. And yes, their free version limits to 50 students. I will look at Quizziz but any other suggestions?
Hollis, I am not a lawyer but you are using the videos for educational purposes and you are not downloading the video but simply sharing it. You are not sharing it publicly either or making use of the video to make money...I can see that you are doing anything wrong.
To (almost) solve the video problem.... I usually add a few seconds to the beginning of the clip. It doesn't waste that much time and its gives a moment or two to re-focus after the answer reveal, scoring and (in my class) the cheering when someone has overtaken the previous leader.
@@ttvRussell My big problem is finding ways to not have the video clip as the same length as the answer time. Sometimes I just want a 10 second clip and 30 second answer time. On occasions, I have posted to RUclips my own edited version of the video I want to use with still images to fill up the time after the clip has ended. It's time consuming to prepare, but I see no alternative. If you know a better work-around, I'd be grateful for it.
Make you when you screen share that you are clicking on the 'include video sound'...i know it is not a video but it will share any sounds you are playing on your computer with your participants
I am trying to add a video and when I preview it and test it the video automatically starts and the timer for the question starts as well. How can I start the video without the timer starting for the question?
Eddy I can't remember but I don't think you can control the timer. I am just about to renew these videos anyway as I think there have been some updates and so I am going to make a new set of videos and release them next week.
I’m struggling to have more than 3 players when playing kahoot with the basic free version? Did the 2020 version restricted the amount of quiz participants?
Thanks for your video. Some questions: 1. Is there a multiselect feature, e.g. where the correct answer will be 3 choices selected from 4 possible choices. 2. Do the students get feedback on what the correct answer is immediately? How about letting the students redo the question if they don't get it correct. 3. You answered this but I want to clarify: if I want to ask 5 questions on the same video, I need to have five different embeddings of various snippets of the video, correct? I'm hoping for something that will let me do multiselect, re-do's, and one single video with questions embedded.
You set how they get the feedback to some degree. I don't think you can have multiple correct answers though it might be a feature they introduce as many tools are starting to offer that option.
Hi Russell, thank you so much for your videos. But when I select play game online, I log in with the pin as a student, then the student can not see the questions, just can see the colors for answer without any letters. :((
Hello, thank you so much for such an informative video. However, I would also like to know, if there is any possibility to add a picture after an answer?
Good job explaining. I noticed that the students do not see the questions are not seem by students, not even the answers just the coloured shape. How do they know the answers and question?
@@ttvRussell For me, if I want more than 3 people to use a quiz or multi-select answers...then it's $40 a month apparently. Have I done something wrong?
Really glad that my videos are helpful. I have some new stuff coming out very soon. It might be worth signing up to the newsletter on my website www.teachertrainingvideos.com/sign-up

Hi Donal. It does take time but you can use the Kahoots time and time again, you can also share them between teachers
I use them for History! VERY useful !

Can ALL RUclips videos be used in KAhoot? Even those that have copyright.?

Not as far as I know, daykw1212 . It should allow for up to 10 players on the FREE version. But there are different pricing structures in Kahoot!
What if I need to add just tutorial video in the middle of the quiz that has no question. And then continue with quiz. Thank you
You can't do that in the free tool. I am not sure if they now allow you to do it in the paid tool
how did you change the options for the questions so quickly. I didn't see you type in the options letter by letter.
I edited that part out to save time in the video
Hi Russel, how many players can join a Kahoot game ?
Rusbi, I have had huge classes with more than 100 people and worked fine.

You have to project the questions through Zoom and they have to access the game on the mobiles. They need 2 devices.

You know I think they have introduced pictures into the questions now but I am not 100%.
Can you do it on mobile too?
Best if teacher uses computer but yes students can be using mobiles.
Good job explaining. I noticed that the students do not see the questions are not seem by students, not even the answers just the coloured shape. How do they know the answers and question?
Josin, you have to project the questions onto a screen, so the students see them or share them in a Zoom window. It works really well on Zoom too.
I am excited to use kahoot for my first online class. Thank you so much
It's a great tool and I have used it many times. Works well in Zoom too.
@@ttvRussell you mean we can use Kahoot with Zoom by sharing the screen, so the student just can answer by saying...thank you.
Does it cost money to do this?
Kahoot is for free.

Hiya Russell, you can now add pictures on to the answers :)
Thank you. That must be a new feature.
