Seriously, her hair is GLOSSY.
Yea, her hair was gorgeous.
But no need to kill, babe. Use oils and masks religiously instead lol. Use lots of heat protectants, get oil treatments you put in your hair 30mins prior to every wash (check Indonesian, Korean, Japanese brands for some good ones that don’t break the bank), apply moisturizing products after you do wash (natural oils that do well on the hair paired with leave-in hydration boosting creams/conditioners), don’t over wash the hair, try not to blow dry or use a lot of heating tools … air dry and heatless curls if possible.
You can turn any damaged hair into something really shiny after a couple months of care. Trust me. I’ve got long hair down to my waist. It’s virgin and real fine (prone to tatting) … but there is still split ends and damage (I’ve cut 7” off recently but need to cut more to be totally “healthy”), but when I use oils and masks, I can run my hands through it without any knotting and have a lot of shine that doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it appear oily/greasy. Like silk with the way lighting hits it. When I don’t use them after a few days, I can tell a major difference. It begins to look dull and flat.
Whether curly, wavy, straight, thick, fine, virgin, bleached, colored, heavily damaged … oils and masks will do wonders with consistency, which is key. Can’t undo damaged hair unless you cut it, but you can help make it appear a lot better.

I am Native American and long hair symbolizes being connected to the the Earth along with spiritual growth. Hair being cut typically happens after a death in the family or a traumatic experience. The hair being cut symbolizes a fresh start and letting go of the past which I think is truly beautiful.

Sara made me nostalgic. I had her hair until I was about 19 or 20. I went to a friend's stylist who was the sweetest ever woman from the Philippines. I told her go to brushing the shoulder, but she wouldn't. She said one of her worst personal traumas as a stylist was cutting a long-haired girl's hair as short as she requested. The girl then sobbed and cried for a long time. She agreed to bra-line and said if I was still wanting shoulder length in 2 weeks, to come back. She first cut about 4 or 5 inches and stopped. She made me brush it and all and made sure I wouldn't cry. Then she went to mid-back and stopped. I was not even acting sad and asked her to go to shoulder. She considered and then did it. I was very happy and have never gone long again.
For real. Long hair is so annoying and gets tangled in everything! I go to the gym a lot it would get caught in the bars and it just got annoying.
I'm glad the stylist did what she thought was best for you, that's really sweet. I'm planning on growing it waist length, and then I might chop it off after I enjoy it for a while. Currently it's a teeny bit below bra-line.

When I was about 12, I gave my waist length hair to a hairstylist to do what he wanted, and he layered the fuck out of my hair. Total of zero regrets! 11 years later, still in love with layered haircuts 💕
I got 9 or more inches cut off when I was 13. Went into a pixie cut the first time. Loved it. I felt so free and the heat from my hair disappeared. I have extremely thick hair and it’s black, so it just soaked in so much heat in the sun that it feels like your putting your hand on a stove burner when touched. Never went back to long hair and I’m still doing pixie cuts. Love it

Ever since I was a child, I’ve had this habit of letting my hair grow out as long as I can stand, then chop it all off above the shoulders and donate it, so this extreme long to way short has always just kinda been part of my life.

I have done that twice. When I was pregnant, I had it to my waist. Cut it to my shoulders and didn't tell anyone. Sent out our Christmas cards and 2 days later my phone was blowing up. "Where is your hair?" "omg! You cut your hair!" Was pretty funny. That and my clients freaking out(I'm a hairdresser).

As a mom aren’t we supposed to be lifting our kids confidence at every step of the way? Words from our peers can hurt us for years, words like this from your parents can last FOREVER. I will always do what I can to boost my girls self confidence, even if their style isn’t what I’d personally choose for them!

My coworker encouraged me to chop my hair off to about just above shoulder length ; the hairdresser was a true artist and the long, unmanageable hair and frizz , that I had always kept in a bun, turned into well defined shape facing curls and the shape is beautiful.
