Cutting off all your hair to donate it is so Mia. I did basically the same about a year ago. I cut a long bob, then bangs, then a short wolf cut a few months later. Now it's a few inches past my shoulders and looks like I got professional layers, but nope. I did that! It feels great to take control of your appearance for yourself. Same here! And there’s superstitions in my culture that say some people don’t have a good “hand” for cutting hair which means it could cause your hair to take agessss to grow back so I get nervous going to cut my hair 😢

I legit took inspiration from this. I had also had about 28 inches or 30 of hair for the past 3 years and based on this I asked my dad (not professional) to cut 7 - 8 inches off at home. Turned out great! (might or might not have cut an extra inch or 2 secretly on my own) thanks mia!

I always thought I wanted really long hair and then I found out about donating it I wanted to do it immediately so I went from having some of the longest hair in my class to having super short hair. Once my hair was shorter then my cousin which was surprising because my hair had always been longer then his. Donating is awesome and I am really happy I got to experience it.
My son who is now 33 grew his hair down to his mid back . And his hair was blonde and curly ( I was so jealous ) and he donated it to “Lock’s of Love “ . I’m so amazed that at 16 he had realized that people are in need for just the slightest bit of kindness in their lives . That was in 1996 . I’m glad I was reminded of that gesture, especially now because people have become too selfish . To every kind person out there , and there aren’t many , thank you and be kind to everyone, a lot of people won’t be kind back to you , but that’s okay because they can never take the love you have in your heart . Get rid of fake friends, their cowards .
I've been doing that too. Every other summer I cut off about 10-14 inches. But my hair has gotten so thin that my ponytail is about to 1/4 of what it was just ten years ago. ☹️

Sometimes when people keep a style for a long time, especially when it's long, it almost becomes part of your identity. When I cut mine, I got BS comments like "omg... you were so pretty... why you do that to your hair?" and other things that make you feel awful. Everybody has an opinion. 😒

I never understood why ppl care what you do with your hair (or body, for that matter) - they act like it's their hair that was chopped, and it's the end of the world.

Same. I’ve always considered my hair my best physical asset. Friends say I have shampoo commercial hair. I’ve had it at various lengths during my life, but only recently decided to chop quite a bit after many years of it being quite long. It was hard to chop it given the compliments I always get about it, but I needed a change. It’s been both fun and frustrating (styling it has been brutal due to the curl and texture), but I don’t regret the decision. You absolutely have to do what makes you feel good! And hair does grow back, so it’s never a permanent decision! ☺️

As someone who has been growing her hair out and donating each time it gets long enough for the past 12 years, it’s so nice for Mia to share this process so more people know that there are more ways to donate to people in need ❤️
I always thought I wanted really long hair and then I found out about donating it I wanted to do it immediately so I went from having some of the longest hair in my class to having super short hair. Once my hair was shorter then my cousin which was surprising because my hair had always been longer then his. Donating is awesome and I am really happy I got to experience it.
My brother has been doing this entire life! He started in grade school and hasn’t stopped, he’s now 35 and has donated soo many times!
My son who is now 33 grew his hair down to his mid back . And his hair was blonde and curly ( I was so jealous ) and he donated it to “Lock’s of Love “ . I’m so amazed that at 16 he had realized that people are in need for just the slightest bit of kindness in their lives . That was in 1996 . I’m glad I was reminded of that gesture, especially now because people have become too selfish . To every kind person out there , and there aren’t many , thank you and be kind to everyone, a lot of people won’t be kind back to you , but that’s okay because they can never take the love you have in your heart . Get rid of fake friends, their cowards .
I've been doing that too. Every other summer I cut off about 10-14 inches. But my hair has gotten so thin that my ponytail is about to 1/4 of what it was just ten years ago. ☹️
it makes me sad that mia was so worried how we would feel about her cutting her hair☹️ girl, it's YOUR hair! if you were ready for a change, you go for it, dont worry how anyone else feels about it! I get bored with my hair sometimes too, and when I got it cut up to my ears I had a midlife crisis and very quickly realized I most definitely don't have the bone structure for short hair🫠 and personally, I think it suits your face really well, like you could be a model with that cut!😍🔥

Sometimes when people keep a style for a long time, especially when it's long, it almost becomes part of your identity. When I cut mine, I got BS comments like "omg... you were so pretty... why you do that to your hair?" and other things that make you feel awful. Everybody has an opinion. 😒
@Angie M ppl can be so rude, butting in their opinion unnecessarily🤦🏼♀️ I got the same thing when I chopped off my hair - "I thought you were growing your hair out" "I don't like it but if it's what you want it's fine" "oh you cut your hair?..... oh, ok" and all the looks given, no words needed🙄 what makes it worse is that I really didn't like my hair that short, it just made me look like an egg headed paperboy🥲 so I really had no confidence until my hair grew past my shoulders which took about a year. I never understood why ppl care what you do with your hair (or body, for that matter) - they act like it's their hair that was chopped, and it's the end of the world.
Yeah right? She's so lovely, she should not worry about us, it's her life. And both long and short hair are soo pretty on her, the important thing is that she has to be comfortable with it, that's all that matters✨

God I love it though! So proud of her for having the guts to cut it, and do it how SHE wanted it and not how everyone has been telling her to for so long. She’s posted videos in the past where she’s said “I wanted to do this or that or try something new and I felt like I couldn’t because everyone would be upset.” Girl. ITS YOUR HAIR!!! And honestly, it looks amazing.
Edit: I do have to say thought that the chaos of her cutting her short, straight hair by herself was stressing me out! I cut my own hair all the time, but it’s so curly you can never tell it’s uneven.

Your new cur looks AMAZING. As someone who also has really long hair and is told by everyone to not cut it and they would kill to have my hair. Do what is going to make you feel good. My hair grows back fast so I live for when I get tired of my long hair getting a good big chop off. Its feels so freeing not having all that weight and length. 💇♀️
Same. I’ve always considered my hair my best physical asset. Friends say I have shampoo commercial hair. I’ve had it at various lengths during my life, but only recently decided to chop quite a bit after many years of it being quite long. It was hard to chop it given the compliments I always get about it, but I needed a change. It’s been both fun and frustrating (styling it has been brutal due to the curl and texture), but I don’t regret the decision. You absolutely have to do what makes you feel good! And hair does grow back, so it’s never a permanent decision! ☺️

This inspired me to cut my own hair this morning from really long to about this length! Half of it was previously dyed and I was so sick of caring for it all the time I was really to start with a head of healthy hair! So fun!

I freaking love the 80's-ness of this. As a 1983 HS graduate, the first styling you did on your new cut took me back in the best ways. It looks fantabulous.

Mia the haircut looks amazing!! Enjoy the freedom of how much you just simplified your hair routine. Plus it also feels amazing to be able to donate that much hair. I donated 20 inches of hair back in 2020 after I shaved my head to support my mom going through her first round of chemo.

Amazing!! My brother passed away from cancer when he was 6 years old. In high school, I grew my hair out for 4 years and then chopped it down to a pixie cut to donate it. It was such a meaningful experience. Thanks for sharing this with us ❤️
