One of my favourite tracks In this album, Such an Underappreciated track, Espically with the instrumental, and lyrics. Wilson, despite it being his first with Genesis in my opinion, did his part and great, everyone knew how hard it was too replace Phil, and if they've only given him a full chance. Like I said, out of all the tracks in this album, there's always more than one track that's your favorite, and this is one of them. All you gotta do is give it a chance, instead of just following the bandwagon of Hate. All the best legends 💙👏
Yeah I feel like they should have taken more time (or any) to work Ray into the process
I appreciate this and always have😊
I really agree with your comments regarding this track and the album in general. The Dividing Line is a great track and probably the centrepiece of the album. One needs to try to forget Phil and Peter and appreciate Calling all Stations for its own worth and merit. Ray Wilson does a great job on vocals and has real swagger. The songs are tremendous and many of the lyrics are as usual with Rutherford and Banks moving and intelligent. It's a great pity this line up has been, as you indicate, so unappreciated. It doesn't matter what the old fossils or anybody else says, Calling all Stations is a great album, full of great songs. Listen to it ASAP.
Lyrics to this great track; 💙👏
There has always been a dividing line
But you choose, you choose, yes you choose not to see it
And then you wonder why you fall
It cuts through the heart of every city
If you climb to the top of the highest building
You can see where it falls 'cause the streetlights stop
The colours start to change
You hear a voice inside you
Not the words that you wanted to hear
Not the things that you wanted to see hey, hey, hey, hey
In the comfort and safety of your own home
Remember those outside in the cold
And the wind and the rain
And take in your hands a little ray of light
And turn it into a beam that pierces the darkness of the night
There has always been a dividing line
But you choose, you choose, yes you choose not to see it
Sometimes we believe if we close our eyes
The rain might wash it away
That's why we stumble and we fall
Not the words that you wanted to hear
Not the things that you wanted to see hey, hey, hey, hey
When everything that you hold dear to you
Has finally faded away from your life
The last cold ray of sunshine slowly disappears
Round the corner of the building
And leaves you alone
When darkness covers the city and the streets are silent too
What will you turn to...
🙏🏻
Even in their short lived attempt to be alternative rock, there’s always a progressive themed track in Genesis’ post Hackett era.
Such a powerful track with sensational powerful and syncopated drumming.
Great song. I don’t know why this album generates so much hate. I think this album belongs to the top 7 of Genesis works… and as the years go by, I could even include it in the top 5. The keyboards are gorgeous. Great choices of sounds.
Didn't see comments about Nir Z but my lord is he amazing on drums.
...strong song , deep lyrics and , have you heard the drummer ? wow ! thank you Genesis !
Ray Wilson is amazing ❤. Phil and Peter are gods. But Ray is awesome and deserved more space and credit in Genesis' legacy...
people are the problem. they never give anything a shot. blame the pseudo "fans" -_-
Best song on the album. A lot of good stuff here if you give it the time, that's the main problem with the album though, the tunes are "growers" nothing immediate enough to really be a big hit.
There's some great songs on this album, dividing line, calling all stations, one man's fool, must be some other way. Really good, and deserved more respect.
definitely much signature songs on the album. gr8 but so hard underrated unfortunately
Totally agree with you...Tony and Mike should have persisted with Ray he was worth another album at least
Calling All Stations is unfairly hated by fans. It's a pretty good album.
... Because Phil wasn't there.... Saw this tour in Grand Rapids Mich. [ the Wannabe city ] didn't sell out , Ray Wilson was excellent ! Great show ! Same with Journey , without Steve Perry... The public am stoopid .
Definitely one of my favorite songs from the album. Tony's synth keyboard intro, Mike's guitar riff, and Ray's singing coalesce so perfectly.
I love this track , it charges like an Amtrack train not stopping until it reaches the destination station ( no pun intended ) 😮😊
It took many years for me to appreciate this album, but now I really like it.
This is a great song.
this album has aged VERY good!!
A lot of negative comments about this album. There's no need really. Listen to music without prejudice, as the great George Michael told us to. It's OK to like it, it's OK not to, but there's little point in making endless comparisons. In my view what made Genesis so interesting is that they did develop, they did change and they did break new ground. All the greatest artists and composers developed over time. If you prefer Peter Gabriel well fine, go and listen to Peter Gabriel then, or whatever. Almost all the great music (pop, rock, classical, opera, you name it) requires repeated listening, study, patience and attention to give up its secrets. I listen to a massive range of music from Wagner to Bach to John Coltrane to Messiaen. Genensis are one of the most astonishing creative forces in musical history - period. It's worth hearing everything they put out.
Well said. I love all Genesis era's and I particularly love this song.
This song is a certified banger to this day. One of my favorite Genesis tracks.
What do you think of albums like Trespass, Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot? A Trick of the Tail?
Absolutely agree
Underrated track from an underrated album!
Awesome ending drum solo ❤❤
Literally ended up on The Dividing Line of pain during this premiere, i couldn't be there because i was hospitalized, but now i'm not, and about this track, this was the one that made me start paying atention to this album, particularly the live show, it was brilliant ;)
Hola,Nice to see you again and Good Recovery...Take Good Care of Yourself ! 🙂😉👋✌❣🇧🇪
The heaviest song on the album, especially when played live! 🎸🎹🎶♥️
Drum solos from Nir, and a guitar duet between Mike and Anto.
One of my faves from the CAS era. The live version with Nirs solo and Mike and Ants duelling guitars was great.
Wait, Ant played with Genesis live?!
@@ConceptJunkie yep. 97-98. He's now with the Mechanics of course.
@@ConceptJunkie Ant Drennan, not Ant Phillips. LOL
Super goed
Geweldig
Nir Zidkyahu🥁excelente
I love this one!most be th most rocker song of Genesis and with that instrumental intro wow!
Perfect !
If they had another album with Ray to grow him as a singer in the public’s ear, I think this era would be received a little better. This era or sound of Genesis leans more alt rock and with the timbre of Ray’s voice.
This is one of the few tracks on the album that actually rates above a 5. There’s a good album here somewhere. A few of the tracks should have been left as b-sides.
I totally agree with your rating as above 5 stars
ok, now this works. i like it.
Wishing so much success to my favourite band! I love you Genesis!
I LOVE GENESIS!
GENESIS🎤🎵🎵🎧🌟❤
✨🎶✨🎶✨🎶✨
I had hopes for this one until the vocals came in. This album isn't underrated enough.
I honestly don't believe this track would be better with Phil.
Phil's an overrated drummer. Chester would have done the job to.
⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏
1019
😊
❤️🌹❤️
👯👯🕺🕺👯👯💞💞
Why would they make only one album when they early put effort into finding a lead that sounds like Gabriel?
Because of poor album sales and poor ticket sales for their concerts to promote a very lackluster album. Not really all that hard to figure out, dude!
@@richcasey7380 which is funny because that never stopped tony from releasing more solo albums...
Looks like we missed again, Uh huh
well you finally came right out and said it, girl. what took you so long?
@@orokusaki1243 Been said along time, and here we go again
AllMightY’s word or men’s words, they both will be eaten or deep throated individual by all on the 2 witnesses’ judgement day(s)
Great song, even if the vocals aren't up to Phil's standard. Or, for that matter, Nad Sylvan's.
This IS not my favorite. Stop Génesis Peter Gabriel two genios.
... and then they called it a day, there were no market for them no more; certainly not for crap like this.
Great singer , great voice!
This album was the dividing line between actual Genesis and the abomination that is this lineup
Music is brilliant in this Track pity Collins wasn't singing would have been classic
