Such a great track, apart of such an underrated album. Great instrumentally, vocally and lyrically. Wish they gave this song more credit, and a chance. Love how each track, has sorta a message linked too it. Wilson did his best, great end to an era.
I agree. Those who discount this album without giving it a proper listen are missing out on so many great songs.
É um álbum é bem fraco. O melhor do Genesis era com Peter Gabriel e Steve Hackett.
Wish who gave it more credit? Cats? It's very bad. What do you think of Trespass?
One of the most beautiful songs on the album! 🎹🎶♥️
A classical Genesis song type and one of my favourites.
An underrated classic of the era. Still.
My wife came in as I was forcing myself to go through this. She said "who's that?". I said Genesis and she recoiled in horror. I had to explain. Normally she recognises Genesis immediately. This isn't even amongst the worst albums I've ever heard, it's worse than that. Out of interest, what is your view on say Trespass or Foxtrot?
It's so comforting to know ya'll are still with us in one way or another. ❤
One of the greatest bands of all time, with a never ending legacy that will always be remembered for years yet to come. Such an underrated album as well, especially with its tracks. 👏👏👏
There's a beautiful sunset tonight
I can hear some elements of “In the Air Tonight” in this song. This album is notoriously underrated.
UNCERTAIN WEATHER 🎵🎵🌎🌟🌟🌟
I absolutely love, love, love this song. I disagree with the reviewer below who said that there is no "warmth". Maybe on some songs, but on Uncertain Weather I couldn't disagree more. Ray's voice has a smooth purr to it that greatly fits the ambience of this song from Tony's stellar keyboard work and elevates the song to another level. It all makes for a more warm and inviting ballad than the In Too Deeps and Hold On My Hearts of the world and should have had the same level of success. Bottom line...Uncertain Weather is my favorite song from CAS.
This was a great album. Nobody will be like Phil, we all know it. But with Ray they did a great job. It's still much better than most of other "great" (?) bands
Best song of the album.
Wishing so much success for my favourite band! I do love you, Genesis!
Lyrics to this great CAS Track; 🔥
A day of uncertain weather
Captured in a frame forever
A face in a faded photograph
He must have had a life
Maybe with a family
And people who meant everything to him
A sinner, a saint, a soldier
Caught up in a war he never
Had a chance to start or build a life
All gone long ago
Leaving no trace
Disappearing like smoke in the wind
To become just a face without a name
Leaving no trace
Disappearing like smoke in the wind
Hopes and fears important plans
Forgotten memories
Footsteps fading in the sand
Schemes and dreams small and grand
Nothing left to see
Footsteps fading in the sand
Someone who cast a shadow
Maybe just a lazy man
Doesn't make much difference now it's true
A day of uncertain weather
Captured in a frame forever
A face in a faded photograph
All gone long ago
Leaving no trace
Disappearing like smoke in the wind
To become just a face without a name
One more to add to the total
Of those never heard of again
Yes, he's gone, just a face without a name
Leaving no trace, disappearing like smoke in the wind
🙏🏻
It's always good to check the Forcast weather for the day and night all across the world before playing any Genesis song.
The track that truly made me listen to this album in a different light, after The Dividing Line live enticed me to re-listen (no reHear, that's copyrighted... just kidding), this track was the one that stuck out a lot to me, there is this underlying theme in the whole album and a certain play with moods, it was clear that the band thought the previous album was the end, and that they missed the person on this video's hashtag.
" Temps incertain" c’est une Jolie Melodie...la Musique est plutôt Sombre et Mélancolique... j’aime les accords de guitare de Mike Rutherford et les effets très planants grâce aux harmonies et sonorités de Tony Banks ! Quand à la voix de Ray Wilson, c’est évident que ce morceau a été écrit pour lui , tant il l’incarne à la Perfection ! 🎸🎹🎤🔥🤩👋✌❣🇧🇪
This is a good album and I like the fact it had nothing to do with Phil Collins as it’s the 2 founders of Genesis
It’s a real shame that none of these tracks were ever played live on the last tour as to dismiss them is a real shame
...expectations were laying heavily upon this album, and I couldn't shake them off either... letting those drop, it does sound better - its just not like anything that we've heard before from them... as a stand-out like that, with a new voice, its quite solid and enjoyable 👍
Angel number 7

Nowadays in these nostalgia days that we like to live in it's prettty well admitted by audiences and popular that the bands we used to cherish have 80-90% line up replacement with only 2 sometimes just one founding member left but still carrying the torch (Yes, Journey,...) most times just cloning themselves in my humble opinion. Here it was a brave and different approach which was probably too ahead of its time as Genesis fans were not ready to the big jump that was letting go the Genesis with Phil that they liked. Maybe it would work better in this era now...
Criminally underrated album. Calling all stations with Phil Collins on the voice would have been TREMENDOUS.

Or upload like 23 different edits of the famous apotheosis joke song Who Dunnit? ;)
@@Schimnesthai was it A or was it B?
@@Schimnesthai such a horrible song. They should have used Paperlate instead.
Pretty sure the Phil Collins channel started doing that when they ran out of album material. Give it time.
I like this track and the entire album, but thought that the tracks they left off (i.e. "Anything Now," "7/8," and "Sign Your Life Away") should have been left on the album, but Genesis has been notorious for leaving great tracks off of their albums. Another thing I think didn't make this album more popular was replacing Collins with an unknown, who hadn't put his own personal stamp on the songs. Ray Wilson is a fine singer, but having him sing over songs already written and recorded by Tony and Mike made Ray come off as a session vocalist. The album has amazing production, but lacks the warmth that Collins or Gabriel would have given it. I wish they had done a follow up album giving Ray a chance to add more input in the writing and sound development. Then again, late 90s FM and MTV weren't too interested in Genesis anymore, even with Collins, but especially without Collins.
In my opinion, this album is not bad, but it is a bit long like "DUKE". (In fact, it is much longer than DUKE...)
If I try to listen to all of them, I lose my concentration and fall asleep halfway through. I think it would have been better to cut one or two monotonous songs in the middle and make the album about 50 minutes long.
Agree
A gostei não, tá muito parecido com peter Gabriel, sou mais phil Collins, mais tudo muda, vida que segue
Ray Wilson: Vocals
Tony Banks: Keyboards
Mike Rutherford: Bass, Guitars.
Nick D`Virgilio: Drums
I'm listening to the album track by track and there hasn't been a good one yet. People say this album is underrated but frankly it's not underrated enough. It should come with a warning advising fans of Genesis up to 1977-78 to stay well away. It's making me angry it's so awful. I'm going to leave the rest of the songs. I can 't take anymore. For this to be their last album is tragic. It makes The Endless River sound like an excellent release.
Not a terrible Album, not a great one either.
Shipwrecked and 'if thats what you need' , are pretty crappy songs, but there a few really good ones, and a few decent ones.
