      @@ToddysMullowayAddiction I think I've been tieing my traces too long, so my baits would be on the bottom, I've been planning to shorten them, after watching your video I definitely will

    • @ToddysMullowayAddiction
      @ToddysMullowayAddiction  Год назад +1

      Yeah, my fishing has definitely improved since I made my sinker trace longer and hook trace a bit shorter. I think it's all about trial and error. And once you find a set up that works stick to it, works for me cheers 🎣🍻🤙

    Glad to see you recovered man and keep bringing the content 💪. Great simple rig saves time and in theory the loop knots would just pull tight on themselves under pressure, Genius ! Question in regards how you attach your mainline to the rig do you loop knot the mainline to the swivel if mono or?

    • @ToddysMullowayAddiction
      @ToddysMullowayAddiction  Год назад

      Thanks mate, yeah thumb is feeling better after second operation. Yeah I do a double loop on main line then put it through the swivel then around swivel and pull tight. Yeah I've never had the double loop fail me and it's simple to do so I keep using it. With my braid I do a blood knot but I put it through the swivel twice before I do the wraps cheers

    Another great video mate. First time I’ve seen a rig like that nice one and thx for sharing. Do you notice Mulloway cone on the bite either side of the tide change?
    Good luck with the recovery.

      @ToddysMullowayAddiction  Год назад +1

      Thanks mate, glad you enoy my content, much appreciated. To tell you the truth I get the fish at all times of the tide, I think I get most on the incoming tides. But have got some big fish on the change. The bigger fish seem to like the change though more so in the Estuary I think. Thanks for watching mate, cheers 🎣🍻🤙

    Great video Todd! What's the reasoning behind having the last hook smaller than the other two?

    • @ToddysMullowayAddiction
      @ToddysMullowayAddiction  Год назад +2

      Thanks mate, much appreciated, I have the bottom hook smaller for the tail of the Pillchard and head of the baby Squid. 10/0 seems to big so I thought a smaller hook would look more natural cheers 🎣🍻🤙

  • @ozdog822

    Geday Todd..
    With your rig can you explain how you set the hooks on a fish champion ?..
    I see you keep tension on the sinker I'm just wondering if your holding the rod and they smash it what do you do..?..
    I usually have a running line with drag not to lose and they run before i set the hook so I'm interested in this rig you use ..
    Its already tied on my rod😁...cheers mate..🤙

    • @ToddysMullowayAddiction
      @ToddysMullowayAddiction  Год назад +1

      Hey mate, I have my rod in the rod holder as sometimes it can be hours between bites. I use to set my drag so the fish could run before I set the hooks, but I found I lost to many fish that way. So I just set my drag firm so they can pull line but it sets the hooks at the same time. I think in the surf Mulloway hit the baits hard so I just sit back in my deck chair with my can of bourbon and wait for my rod to bounce 👻🎣🥃🤙

    Hey mate, hope all is well with the op…. Do you run mono or braid on your main line in the surf?

    • @ToddysMullowayAddiction
      @ToddysMullowayAddiction  Год назад

      Thanks mate, much appreciated, recovery is going well so far. I use both actually but I prefer mono, braid is good when there's weed around. But I like mono because Mulloway have soft mouths and shake hooks easily and braid has no stretch so hooks pull more I think and mono is better on structure cheers 🎣🍻🤙

    any reason you use 60lb on the sinker trace and 80lb on the hooks would it make much difference if you used 80lb on both?

    • @ToddysMullowayAddiction
      @ToddysMullowayAddiction  4 месяца назад

      I find if you use lighter line on the hook trace than the sinker trace it tangles much less and stronger and more abrasion resistant for big Mulloways gill rakers and teeth and more chance of landing sharks

  • @xbeast666

    Silly question, how did u connect your sinker swivel to the sinker???

    • @ToddysMullowayAddiction
      @ToddysMullowayAddiction  Год назад

      I connect the sinker trace to the sinker with a double loop knot putting the eye of the knot through the eye of the swivel and around swivel then pull tight, then clip the snap swivel to the eye off the sinker. Hope that answers your question cheers 🍻
