Checking Cylinder Bore Shape

In this video, I show how to check consistency of a small block Chevy cylinder bore using a dial board gauge. I measure each cylinder at eight points, four on one axis and four on the other axis at 90° from one another.

Not to rain or your parade but you should really check at 12-6 and 3-9 specially on a 400. A whole bunch of geometry but a 400 is always trying to push the piston through the side of the block.

Does the measurement change if angle pf your gauge changes,if so would you need to hold it square and how so

@@johnkelly8525 I show that is the video. The gauge has twi small wheels that keep it lined up on the Diameter. The gauge reading will tell you the widest reading (when it tops out and starts heading back down)
