  • @vincenthuying98
    @vincenthuying98 3 года назад +1

    Yesterday, this company’s old CEO, mr. Jeroen van der Veer fulminated against a judicial judgement in the case of the Dutch Milieudefensie (environment defense) against Shell’s slow implementation of renewable energy. Amongst other things, mr. van der Veer said that Shell didn’t play a role in veiling their internal knowledge about the use of petrochemicals for energy and its induced climate effects. Mr. van der Veer is still not able to loose face. Several in-depth investigations have surfaced explicit knowledge of more than just one of the world’s oil kartels, that they deliberately cleaned up their research results when it came to any environmental issue. Best example; the absolute disgrace Shell left in Nigeria, true environmental destruction, no other words exist for such corporate behavior. Mr. van der Veer never took his responsibility in the Nigeria case, he just cashed in his monthly allowance and kept his mouth shut. Meanwhile mr. van der Veer gets a full fledged corner on Dutch television where he once more shows his true allegiance to Shell by repeating all the lies, Shell is working on it. Yeah, we’ve all seen it. In the ‘90s under van der Veer, Shell took over the production facility of several promising Dutch innovations regarding solar energy. Their first action after the takeover was to export the entire facility to Germany. The once promising idea was marketed on too high a price an overhauled by other initiatives. My humble self today is not aware of any Shell solar panel still being produced, let alone sold. By the way, happy partner in their scam was energy company Nuon, now eaten up by Vattenfall.
    Overall, Shell’s conduct has been dubious, the company received and still receives large subsidies for dubious innovation projects that continuously don’t seem to take hold when they’re launched. Also they still receive large sums of taxpayer money for their developments of new oil wells. Further, taken account of Shell’s history concerning South Africa, Shell’s conduct can only be seen as bashful, shameful, counterproductive, in the absolute worst way strategic.
    Anyhow, when I still need Diesel, I for one won’t put my feet on a Shell gas station. I advice you to do the same, that just might be the only way to get some sense into this company. Further I would say the Dutch judge should oblige former and contemporary heads of Shell to read and test their knowledge on Jeremy Rifkin and his view on energy for the future, and the energy market. In his view large corporations like Shell will be phased out. Like the dinosaurs were once phased out in the Jurassic age on which sediments companies like Shell built their riches, they too will now collapse from the paradigm shift towards free and always available energy. And pssst, they only got themselves to blame, when they truly had been honest with us, they had long ago put the research they acquired for cars that only need a tiny drop of petrol in their tank on the market, which would mean we wouldn’t be here now.

    So I am anticipating Shell lags energy sector for 5 years then starts crushing everyone. I think I pull my investments now and come back in 5 years transitioning away from my other big oil holdings. But I only come back if they are right with renewables and how things go. They may be 10+ years early instead of just 5. Actually Shell exiting the dance floor helps the other oil companies in the short-mid term.

    To be blunt but not discouraging, actions speak much louder than words.. It is more important to change the heart and mind than changing the "shell". By that I mean, the heart of the organisation needs to be focused on the primary beneficiary firs and always. Without the users, there is no energy consumption. It is the ordinary people who should be the primary focus of Shell's actions. That is why Shell is taking this path of reducing its impact on the environment, but maintaining or increasing its net profit. One observation as a consumer that I can mention, which indicates otherwise is registration of the "loyalty shell card". In Europe registration differs for different countries, but limits the inhabitants of that country to what it conceives to be its dominant language. However, it is not a big logistical task to separate these countries from the different languages. There can be "indication" of the country and separate "choice" of the language. It is not true, that all people living in any country share the same language; it's likely, but not certain.
    Shell needs to humanise its heart and mind and focus away from the sole focus on monitory values. Shell need to be prolife more than pro-exploitation of life for profit. It is then, when it will stop being just another Energy supplier to being part of life's Energy source.

    A lot of energy investors don't know or don't read cash flow statements. Make statements that Shell have generated superior FCF over XOM and CVX since the 2016 BG acquisition, how likely your new investments will outperform them. Otherwise, people will be scared to make investments back to shell as the renewable investments are known to be cash burning business.

What will geopolitics look like from the lens of greening the stage?
    On one hand we have these great initiatives and planning, on the other we have military industry keeping on the growth of even more sophisticated and massively dangerous gear. How do these two worlds come in terms for the benefit of 2050's or 2100's humanity, society,...?

    If we cant power our cars, homes and Buisnesses with our own carbon free equipment of choice, Anything less then a decentralized energy system is a failure of vision or honesty. If we're producing our own cost effective heat and electricity we can afford to pay more for clean products and services.
    We should have absolute control over our carbon free production and use of our energy needs. . Petro/manufacturing industry's should work on cost effective clean air, water and recycling systems. For the things they produce. And the rest will take care of its self.

    • @raysshine3504

      Try running that system for a month and when your solar panel breakdown (happens all the time due to there fragile composition and equipment ) you know probably gonna cost you $15,000-$30,000 and lets not forget the service pay to install new panel which is like $150 per hour . You also need to generate heat which will take a toll on you electricity production . Lets also not forget that you stove is electric and to generate enough electricity gonna take a long time . Also solar panels and wind energy need hydrocarbon products to operate and build .
