But then the Soviet Union collapsed so they couldn't fund the project anymore, but there is a German team who dug a 9.1km hole, but idk much about them.

A wireline plug is set into a tubing nipple that has locking groves inside rated to 5000# or higher. Once the plug is set and pressure bled off. The drill head is removed and a stack of valves is set , flanged up and tested. Then the wireline plug is equalized and pulled from the well. Hopes this answers your question.

While drilling for oil in Turkey, (a whistleblower had disclosed in a Dutch newspaper that) Shell had released the oily substances to underground water reservoirs. Has Shell done anything for cleaning those reservoirs?

From putting together a mechanical construct by human hands and muscle, to putting together larger constructes made by smaller constructs, to making even larger ones far beyond the strength of the human body. We've made "arm extensions" that made bigger "arm extensions" and you could say the brain is the biggest muscle of all.

I'm not sure what shell does, but They usually work either 14 days on/14 days off, or 30 days on/ 30 days off, depending on the company. Sea sickness really isn't a problem due to the weight and size of the rig

Oil is oily & gas is gaseous. Water is wet. When clouds get leaky because holes are punched into them by the sharp beaks of flying birds, pieces of water called rain drops fall out if them.
Where did BP cut corners in the cement pour to allow gas to escape? We already know that the BOP was not tested or maintained prior to lowering, but I didn't understand where the pour failed.
@Stephen As far as I remember, BP decided to remove the mud before the cement was fully hardened. The BOP in itself worked well, but due to a dislocated pipe, it could not close that pipe as it was designed to do.
@@robinj1052 I read that Halliburton did not use enough spacers which caused the cement to have an out of concentricity pour. Also, the BOP batteries were dead and miswired and they did not test them prior to installation. No underwater support plate install either.
@@rancosteel Thanks for the reply. I forgot the details of the report, so you might be spot on. I do recall that at least one set of jacks in the BOP did actually work, but I might be wrong. I definitely should have a look at the reports again.
There are MANY joints of what they call "TUBING"(Pipe) that they thread together to get down to those depths. I worked on a rig as a roughneck and once a derrick hand latching pipe back in the late 80's. Indeed, it's very HARD WORK and GREAT PAY but, it can be VERY "DANGEROUS" too!!👌🏾👍🏾🙂
