23:50 They left the wall at a march and found the wight the same day, and Gendry arrived back at the wall the same day, so at most they marched for like 6 hours , so Gendry running back would take like 2 hours. Dragon Stone is 1900 miles south of the wall, so using the raven network it would take 20 plus hours to get the message to Dragonstone, assuming the birds are well trained and fly the fastest a raven is known to have flied in real life (45 mph), and the messages are transferred onto new birds as soon as the arrive at the transfer points (every 100 to 200 miles). The hard part now is how fast are dragons, since dragon don't exist there is no way to know, but they would have to fly fast enough to support their weight in flight. The slowest we have seen them fly was in the battle at the gold convoy at about 100mph (twice the speed of a battle trained horse), but we have seen them also fly way faster (at least twice that speed). This is the episode where it truly became inescapable that the writing was on the fast track to hell. It's thrilling on the surface, but the more you think about it the less sense the whole thing makes. And it doesn't get better.

@@marsquidward I wouldn't even say they needed more seasons ... just, don't cut them down to 7 and 6 episodes ... keep them at 10 each. That are 7 entire episodes we would get. May still be faster paced than some people want, but it would have helped a lot ...
Its always painful when I recall that Viserioin (Cream coloured dragon that died) was the smoochiest, and lovable of Dany's 3 dragons. She has a very special bond with her in the books (I say her because its also alluded to as Viserion being a female or at least capable of laying eggs)
This is where I realized the show was struggling. There were earlier signs, I see that now when I rewatch, but I was in denial for those. But this was too much for me to accept. Gendry running back to the wall, conveying the message, getting the raven to Dany, her reading it and deciding to fly up there... all in the time it took for the ice in the already freezing north to freeze over again. I feel they should've done it a little differently, like realizing they were in the middle and sending someone to sneak out to go back to the wall, letting them try to stay hidden for a while before eventually being found at which point Dany could show up.
I didn't realize it at the time, I was just enjoying the ride. Later I realized this episode is messy, but only just now that I notice how ridiculous it is. - they kill a walker, super conveniently a single wight is left alive - entire undead army is only a few minutes away from that location somehow - heroes run away to a super convenient rock island in the middle of a super convenient lake, and it's super convenient that the ice breaks when the undead run on it - Thoros freezes to death, in the morning Beric lights his sword on fire to burn him. how about doing it during the night to keep him alive? - Gendry ran for hours, the raven had to fly well over 1500 miles (!) to Dragonstone, Dany had to fly back, somehow this all happens in one day. seriously, people complained about the time skips at the time but I didn't realize just how ridiculous this is - no one thinks to keep hitting the ice to ensure it stays broken and the undead can't get to them - Jon keeps wasting time instead of getting on the damn dragon - pointless Jon fake death scene and reappearance from the water - super convenient appearance of Uncle Benjen to save him, who then randomly chooses to get himself killed by wights for no reason - Arya insulting and threatening Sansa for absolutely no reason at all - white walker army apparently carries massive chains around with them, and magically attached the chains to the dead dragon that's at the bottom of the lake This is REALLY sloppy storytelling. And like you said, just some small changes to help it make more sense could have fixed a lot of this and avoided the mockery. This is supposed to be a serious episode with the heroes' lives on the line and Cody is just laughing at it because the show makes it impossible to take it seriously
@@erikperhs_ Of all the dumb flaws at least there's a potential explanation for that one I admit. Maybe they can go in the water, they just hate doing it because they can't swim with those messed up bodies, so they're just useless in the water. It might be a stretch but I suppose I could believe the Night King could order them to lock arms and make a human chain, lower them into the water, and wrap the metal chains around the dragon. That's easier to belileve than the idea that they carry around massive metal chains with them all the time. Though actually this could have all been avoided if NK just resurrects the dragon underwater and it swims upwards on its own. A dragon popping up from under the water would have been better than this chain stuff.
@@erikperhs_ well what I was picturing is that they can't swim, so if they go in the water they just sink to the bottom. maybe they could walk across the bottom to get to the rock island but they'd be easy to pick off as they come out of the water or something
In the books, the "White Walkers" are usually referred to as the "Great Others." They do have a language; however, it is chillingly ethereal and isn't one that would be understood.
I know it was probably a budget thing, but I wish we got more scenes with Dany and all the grown up (ish) dragons. That brief moment when she's talking to Tyrion and all three dragons are there was great
This late in the series, HBO was literally telling the creators that they could have as much money as they wanted to finish the series right. Instead, they delivered this.
Ah yes, the beginning when logic really gets thrown out the window and the logistics of distance. Ravens dragons and people going at warp speed over vast distances. The only saving grace is the banter between the Hound and Tormund. The Hound is deeply traumatized which is why he froze and did nothing, even after all this time, that trauma still affects him. So sad seeing a dragon die.
If they can't go into the water, how did they tie the chains to the dragon? When you're pulling something that weighs like 20,000 pounds there wouldn't be any slack on the chains. It's little things like that where you see the writing starting to crumble.
The first time watching this I cried and was so shocked when the Night King hit and killed one of Danys dragons. My husband laughed at me😂 but I just love her character so much and it really got to me. RIP 🐉
@@Trance_OCE it definitely was a moment in time I don’t think we will ever see again. EVERYONE waiting for Sunday nights, HBO and hearing that theme song.
Little Finger was trying to tell Sansa how to use Brienne, and the next time we see Sansa she's sending Brienne away (from herself and Arya, yes, but more importantly away from Little Finger--she doesn't want her caught up in whatever scheme Little Finger hatches next). Remember that even Tyrion, who has been one of the wisest characters since the first season, told Jon that Sansa is smarter than she lets on. :) Always love your reactions, and am thrilled we got so many this week! Thank you!
@@NotGettingWhatIPaidForRUclips Her character development is honestly probably one of the worst ones for me. A lot of people talk about how “smart” Sansa was but in all of the show we didn’t even really see her do anything “smart” Except for when dealing with little finger knowing he can’t be trusted. But even then at this point in the show that’s not even really a high iq move. We know he betrayed Ned, we know he has been using people left and right including Sansa herself. And they are surrounded by people who would happily execute little finger for little to no reason💀 But other than that Sansa’s story line is just being moved from one person using her where she is at their mercy, thinking things are going to be good or get better. Then it all turning out to be terrible and she’s at the mercy of whoever she is around again. Then once she’s free she acts like she’s “that bitch”
When Arya was doing her "game of faces" bit with Sansa, she said "I could even be you. What would it be like to wear all those pretty dresses." ... and be a "lady". Anyone who ever knew Arya knows that was something she never wanted. When she flipped the dagger around and handed it to Sansa, that was her acknowledgement that she knew that Sansa would see the truth.
I get that the writers intended something along those lines. But what was the point of doing this at all? It might make sense if Littlefinger somehow held power over Sansa, and Littlefinger was in the room with her in that scene, and they needed to make him believe that they don't trust each other. But none of that happened so what was that scene even for? Why did Littlefinger even want them to distrust each other in the first place? It accomplishes nothing for him. Arya is not any kind of obstacle in his way. He wants to find a way to end up married to Sansa and in charge of the North, shouldn't he be doing everything possible to make himself look like a nice guy who only had to resort to shady actions in the past out of necessity?
The actor that plays Bran said they filmed a scene were Sansa went to him to find out about Arya and he told her about Littlefinger, which then she went to Arya about it but they cut it. Even that scene would of helped... but this season and thr last was just a giant mess. Honestly I am just hoping they speed thru the rest of the last season and move on to house of dragons, its embarrassing re watching GOT lol
31:07 I just want to know where they got the chains and how they put the chains around Viserion and what happened to the ice that was broken with the fall of the dragon and was frozen again, some scenes don't make any sense at all.
7:17-7:22 Tormund: "But I see the way she looks at me." Clegane: "Like she wants to carve you up and eat your liver?" Tormund: "You do know her." [It's a bonding moment] 29:05-29:07 The turn of the blade, to hand it to Sansa may be a sign of loyalty and trust. For everything they've been through, Sansa is still Arya's sister. Or was it a test. "I just made you feel very unsafe, now I've given you a weapon and turned my back. What do you do?" 30:01-30:02 Jon: "How about my queen" such a drastic turn on his part. Until now, he would not consider her his queen, although a queen he could. 30:08-30:10 Daenerys: "I hope I deserve it." Also a huge change for her. Until now it has been "her right" now she _hopes_ she _deserves_ it. 31:13 This was the reason for the bear. To place the hint to the audience that things other than people (which include giants, whom are just huge people) can be raised by the Night King.
I think in the first episode of the series, when Cersei and Robert came to Winterfell; Cersei said it took a month by horse back to go from King's Landing to Winterfell. Hoe much closer is Dragonstone to the Wall????
Apparently Winterfell to Kings Landing is about 1,400+ miles and took them a month. Dragonstone to The Wall is anywhere from 1,500-1,900 miles plus however far north they were. So essentially a raven flew over 1,500 miles to get to Dany who then flew over 2,000 miles, all in less than a day.
Bridget the noise I made when you said they're daddies was surely not human 😂😂😂 You crack me up and Cody is so adorable, i wish I was into horror or marvel so I could watch more of your vids as I really like you guys
Things getting more and more real... Yea, that carrier pigeon and Gendry running are super fast... And magically Dany knows exactly where to go with her dragons too. This was the episode where the warping around and the passage of time in the story gets really muddled and you could sort of look past until this point, but this is where things start falling apart and where the missing 7 episodes of these final two seasons could have really worked their magic... Would have allowed the story to breathe a little more and things get busy and cramped up with the clear lack of time... A really tough show to wrap up with everything going on, but for this the last two seasons needed more episodes instead of less...
I appreciate that you made the connection between Gendry, his hammer, and King Robert...it's another good detail examplifying of how well thought out the entire story is.
It was always sad to me that Brienne preferred and fell in love with pretty boys. The first one was gay and the second one loved his sister. Tormund would've been great for her because he loved her exactly as she was.
Most things in this season didn't make sense, whether it was the passage of time or pre-established concepts or people forgetting important things (like Cersei destroying the Great Sept of Baelor, the greatest symbol of faith in the kingdom), but, still, it's a season with a lot of fan service and quite exciting to watch (if you don't think about the quality of the writing).
Did you notice how the Night King had the spear already in hand before the Dragons got here. Kinda like Bran he may have the same ability of being able to see into the future a bit. You have seen Brans vision of the dragon flying over Kings Landing a few seasons ago. I assume the Night King has been waiting 7 seasons for the Dragon hence why it’s taken them so long.
Everyone complains about the "fast travel" in these last two seasons. I think it's overblown and pretty much a non-issue--except for this episode. The "running back, sending a raven, Dany flies out" all in a night is absolutely wild. (And I'm a person who still loves this episode despite that fundamental flaw for how fun it is.) The thing is, the writing could have very easily fixed this problem: have Dany go up to the wall with them and wait at the wall. There's no shortage of ways to brainstorm making a reason for her to accompany them at the wall, but not go beyond. Hell, have Dany say she'll go at the initial meeting, and have Tyrion say you can't go (like they do here) and have Dany actually take his advice but compromise by going to the wall with them, but not beyond, in case they need her help.
No Cody it is totally crazy. Totally crazy that the creators took what was so WIDELY beloved and basically made their career and crapped on it at the end and rushed it cus they were tired of doing it.

It's one thing to like something and pretend it's the most amazing thing, and it's another to like something and be able to recognize the flaws. One thing's for sure, they deliver some very satisfying moments to the end regardless how we got there.
I’ll say it again…. Who cares if someone got back to wall quicker than we would think….or the same with message to help save them. In a world where dragons live, people are resurrected, and an army of the dead is on the march….getting from point A to point Z quickly is what bothers people? What that is asking for is less of the meaningful and often action packed scenes and more filler scenes.
I have learned to “forgive” D&D since the years have passed. The writing as far dialogue and intelligence is still there, but they needed at least 9 seasons to wrap things up, but the studios wanted to cash out while it was hot and they paid an outrageous amount of money to cut it short. Of course they told themselves they could figure it out and for the numbers they got, I would have done the same thing. Their grandchildren don’t have to work, that’s how rich they are now.
Really, you think it's appropriate to take an enormous amount of money at the expense of your honest work? They were rich anyway, all they did was go from super rich to super duper rich. That's some greedy shit right there. And the whole notion of "your grandchildren don't have to work anymore" rubs the wrong way. What’s so great about that? Chances are they’re going to become very spoiled. And as if working is the most dreadful thing on earth. Sacrificing your life work for money is crazy to me.
@@abdullahkuzhan7247 I didn’t say I agreed with them, I was simply trying to explain how they justified cutting the story up in their minds……that’s it.

Jon’s stupidity is nearly complete, just a few more ridiculous decisions and we’ll be done. Why he didn’t just get on Drogon bewilders me. But nevermind, is always good to give the enemy and undead dragon 🤦♂️
This is where I noticed how much they simplified Jon and turned him into an absolutely different character. Jon was always the smartass that managed to outsmart and trick other people. A complex character that constantly had a fight in his mind between his pride and his sense of justice. From season 6 they are just portraying him as a dumb hero that only knows how to fight and blindly do "what's right", kinda like Ned. But Jon was never Ned, that was the whole point of the inner turmoil of his character, he tried to be like Ned, but he was also a little scheming manipulator. Even more in the books. Fucking hate the show writers.
You know what would’ve been a really good solution? After Jon was resurrected he should've come back different. More aggressive, ruthless and merciless but overall still one of the good guys. Maybe even taking interest in the iron throne after learning about his parents.
Where the hell did the White Walkers get those tow chains from? They were carrying around big long chains just in case they had to dredge up a dead dragon ? The night king should have just raised the dragon while he was on the bottom of the lake. It would have been a cool scene showing a zombie dragon exploding through the ice.
Loved the interaction between the guys at the start. The gathering of so many characters from the separate storylines. Kind of needed that as the rest of the episode was so intense and dark. Here is what got me wondering. It seems the Night King was very much prepared for this encounter. I mean why bother trying to get a small group of people when he has so many more in his army? If anything he lost more from his army than he would have gained turning all of them. I think the Night King knew from some other power that by being at that place and time that the dragons would come. Maybe the Night King's god showed him a vision just like the Lord of Light showed the Hound.
Might seem like people were doing things really fast just because the ep was skipping to it quickly but I don’t think it’s as ridiculous as it seems They were walking around for around half a day looking for white walkers. It was still daytime when they sent Gendry running back to the wall but he arrived at night so that would’ve been a few hours and seems reasonable They send the raven to Dany that night, we then see jon & crew in the morning and it’s later in the day when Dany has received the raven and is flying off so it’s taken the raven the entire night and some of the daytime to fly from the wall to dragonstone, again seems reasonable Probably the most speculative part of it is how long it takes Dany to fly on the dragons from dragonstone to beyond the wall as it’s less than half a day/before it’s gotten dark again but who knows how fast the dragons can go and how much distance they can cover in that kind of time. Might’ve been a bit fast but probably not completely impossible
"seems reasonable".... distance from Kings Landing to the Wall is not entirely know (according to Yoren 1000 leagues which is around 3000 miles and google search says around 2000 miles) and considering Dragonstone is really close we can take that value. Even if we take the lower value of 2000 miles and guess that ravens (plural, no way one can fly the whole distance, i assume they change them along the way) fly for like 18 hours, that would mean they are flying at 111 mph. Considering that ravens fly at 25 mph they either have some juiced up ravens or a more likely scenario that D&D dont give a flying f about continuity and just willed those ravens on Dragonstone. Reasonable af.
@@hectorthewellendowed570 it’s Westerosi Ravens. They fly much faster than their earth counterparts Also they fly in a straight line overhead and don’t travel by land so the distance will be less than a traveller on foot had to travel 😉
You'd think the Night King could have just stood on the edge of the lake and re-animated the dragon, like he did with hundreds of dead wildlings at Hardhome. He didn't need to somehow automagically find some huge ass chains in the middle of nowhere, swim or walk down to attach them, drag it out and physically touch it.
It really annoys me that Sansa says Jon didn't get Winterfell back. Ramsey had 6000 men, Jon 2400, Sansa brought 2000. It was Jon who defeated most of the Bolton troops, and they only managed to reclaim Winterfell and capture Ramsey because Jon had a giant. The knights of the valley would not even win on the battlefield, much less be able to stage a siege after that. She even hid that she had the knights of the valley, causing the death of several northerners and almost Jon himself.

Its always painful when I recall that Viserioin (Cream coloured dragon that died) was the smoochiest, and lovable of Dany's 3 dragons. She has a very special bond with her in the books (I say her because its also alluded to as Viserion being a female or at least capable of laying eggs)
So many amazing moments that make ZERO SENSE in season 7 and 8 lol.
The perfect way start a conversation without upsetting a woman, “So, I know you’re infertile…”
JUST YOU WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE HOW THAT TABLE IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK ON HOTD
I knew you’d love that exchange between Tormund & The Hound. One of my favourites in the whole show.
- they kill a walker, super conveniently a single wight is left alive
- entire undead army is only a few minutes away from that location somehow
- heroes run away to a super convenient rock island in the middle of a super convenient lake, and it's super convenient that the ice breaks when the undead run on it
- Thoros freezes to death, in the morning Beric lights his sword on fire to burn him. how about doing it during the night to keep him alive?
- Gendry ran for hours, the raven had to fly well over 1500 miles (!) to Dragonstone, Dany had to fly back, somehow this all happens in one day. seriously, people complained about the time skips at the time but I didn't realize just how ridiculous this is
- no one thinks to keep hitting the ice to ensure it stays broken and the undead can't get to them
- Jon keeps wasting time instead of getting on the damn dragon
- pointless Jon fake death scene and reappearance from the water
- super convenient appearance of Uncle Benjen to save him, who then randomly chooses to get himself killed by wights for no reason
- Arya insulting and threatening Sansa for absolutely no reason at all
- white walker army apparently carries massive chains around with them, and magically attached the chains to the dead dragon that's at the bottom of the lake
This is REALLY sloppy storytelling. And like you said, just some small changes to help it make more sense could have fixed a lot of this and avoided the mockery. This is supposed to be a serious episode with the heroes' lives on the line and Cody is just laughing at it because the show makes it impossible to take it seriously
@@bobdondaThat last one really made me angry now. How the fuck did they do it if they can't go in the water???
@@bobdonda even if they were useless in the water, they would still cross it just to get to that rock 😂

Ive wondered that many times since the first time i watched it.
The first time watching this I cried and was so shocked when the Night King hit and killed one of Danys dragons. My husband laughed at me😂 but I just love her character so much and it really got to me. RIP 🐉
he died for such a stupid reason too it just...ugh it makes me so angry
Yup. My kids have a bearded dragon named Rhegal.
I was shocked and very emotional after the Night King killed Viserion.
It was a huge moment for Television, and when every new Episode dropped it felt like the whole world was watching. Makes sense to feel that.
Always love your reactions, and am thrilled we got so many this week! Thank you!
@@NotGettingWhatIPaidForRUclips
Her character development is honestly probably one of the worst ones for me.
A lot of people talk about how “smart” Sansa was but in all of the show we didn’t even really see her do anything “smart”
Except for when dealing with little finger knowing he can’t be trusted. But even then at this point in the show that’s not even really a high iq move. We know he betrayed Ned, we know he has been using people left and right including Sansa herself.
And they are surrounded by people who would happily execute little finger for little to no reason💀
But other than that Sansa’s story line is just being moved from one person using her where she is at their mercy, thinking things are going to be good or get better. Then it all turning out to be terrible and she’s at the mercy of whoever she is around again.
Then once she’s free she acts like she’s “that bitch”
@@sleepyking4558 Dude, serious SHOW SPOILERS there for where they are in the series. NOT COOL.
The bad writing of little finger still hurts to this day💀
Are youse posting GoT episodes faster now so you can get to HOUSE OF THE DRAGON faster.? 🐉 I totally support that! So here for it! Can't wait.

Clegane: "Like she wants to carve you up and eat your liver?"
Tormund: "You do know her."
[It's a bonding moment]
29:05-29:07 The turn of the blade, to hand it to Sansa may be a sign of loyalty and trust. For everything they've been through, Sansa is still Arya's sister. Or was it a test. "I just made you feel very unsafe, now I've given you a weapon and turned my back. What do you do?"
30:01-30:02 Jon: "How about my queen" such a drastic turn on his part.
A really tough show to wrap up with everything going on, but for this the last two seasons needed more episodes instead of less...
fewer

I appreciate that you made the connection between Gendry, his hammer, and King Robert...it's another good detail examplifying of how well thought out the entire story is.
It was always sad to me that Brienne preferred and fell in love with pretty boys. The first one was gay and the second one loved his sister. Tormund would've been great for her because he loved her exactly as she was.
So is life, well typically not the incestuous part...but still how people do, wanting what they can't have.
White Walkers…can build giant chains but can’t build boats
Most things in this season didn't make sense, whether it was the passage of time or pre-established concepts or people forgetting important things (like Cersei destroying the Great Sept of Baelor, the greatest symbol of faith in the kingdom), but, still, it's a season with a lot of fan service and quite exciting to watch (if you don't think about the quality of the writing).
Your guys' laughter during the Hound / Tormund scenes were great!
Thank you for pushing these out so fast. I love catching a new episode every day!
I can tell yall two have been spoiled on certain plots & events now. I appreciate that yall still act shocked or surprised

I'm glad you guys acknowledge the sloppy writing and characterization as this series reaches its end.
Exactly!
25:50 Jorah can't ride the dragon indeed.
Well I agree about 9 seasons - maybe even 10 (with full 10 episodes)

Sansa and Daenerys parallel in not wanting to be just protected. Love Daenerys's coat, by the way.
Fucking hate the show writers.
yeah Rob was like Ned that's why he died
You know what would’ve been a really good solution? After Jon was resurrected he should've come back different. More aggressive, ruthless and merciless but overall still one of the good guys. Maybe even taking interest in the iron throne after learning about his parents.

Where the hell did the White Walkers get those tow chains from? They were carrying around big long chains just in case they had to dredge up a dead dragon ? Loved the interaction between the guys at the start. The gathering of so many characters from the separate storylines. Kind of needed that as the rest of the episode was so intense and dark. Here is what got me wondering. It seems the Night King was very much prepared for this encounter. I mean why bother trying to get a small group of people when he has so many more in his army? If anything he lost more from his army than he would have gained turning all of them. I think the Night King knew from some other power that by being at that place and time that the dragons would come. Maybe the Night King's god showed him a vision just like the Lord of Light showed the Hound.
And that’s why Night King had his dragon retrieval chains at the ready!!

Might seem like people were doing things really fast just because the ep was skipping to it quickly but I don’t think it’s as ridiculous as it seems
They were walking around for around half a day looking for white walkers. It was still daytime when they sent Gendry running back to the wall but he arrived at night so that would’ve been a few hours and seems reasonable
They send the raven to Dany that night, we then see jon & crew in the morning and it’s later in the day when Dany has received the raven and is flying off so it’s taken the raven the entire night and some of the daytime to fly from the wall to dragonstone, again seems reasonable
Probably the most speculative part of it is how long it takes Dany to fly on the dragons from dragonstone to beyond the wall as it’s less than half a day/before it’s gotten dark again but who knows how fast the dragons can go and how much distance they can cover in that kind of time. Might’ve been a bit fast but probably not completely impossible
Agreed

They fly much faster than their earth counterparts

Where did they get the absolutely massive cargo ship anchor chains to pull Viserion out of the water
And how they didn't rip the Dragon carcass apart with hoisting it up, from a most likely huge depth of water
off screen the NK killed a cargo ship and resurrected it
You'd think the Night King could have just stood on the edge of the lake and re-animated the dragon, like he did with hundreds of dead wildlings at Hardhome. He didn't need to somehow automagically find some huge ass chains in the middle of nowhere, swim or walk down to attach them, drag it out and physically touch it.
Maybe it takes more power for a dragon, idunno... builds up the anticipation though seeing them pull it out
I really loved the dragon and it was sad for it but liked the episode
It really annoys me that Sansa says Jon didn't get Winterfell back. Ramsey had 6000 men, Jon 2400, Sansa brought 2000. It was Jon who defeated most of the Bolton troops, and they only managed to reclaim Winterfell and capture Ramsey because Jon had a giant. The knights of the valley would not even win on the battlefield, much less be able to stage a siege after that. She even hid that she had the knights of the valley, causing the death of several northerners and almost Jon himself.
