- This is the Samsung Galaxy Note9. The successor to what we highly regard as the King of phablets. That phone that does more than your standard phone. Samsung is boldly confident that this is the best device in the market, but there's really only one way to find out. Reporting from New York City I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow, and it's time to go hands-on. At a glance the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 looks like everything the Galaxy Note 8 should've been, meaning this is more an iteration with significant and logical improvements.

This is the first NOTE that I’ve actually wanted, since my NOTE 4 I had, 4yrs ago, I may consider switching back from APPLE for this.

hereitcomes Samsung's UI doesn't even lag anymore it's not 2015. And they will probably update the phone but I don't think there will be a significant update on the Experience UI. If you're talking about stock Android then yeah updates do matter a lot but the experience UI is already pretty feature packed and it is better optimized that it used to be so I won't be bothered much if the update schedule is kinda slow and as it is a pretty heavy skin on top of Android, it does take time to do R&D.
I really see no reason to "upgrade" from my note 8. And over $1000 reasons not to.

Tbh i hate all the skins. i don't care about the gimmicky features like aremoji and AI shit all i want is a reliable phone and fast timely updates and stock android does it for me.
Considering how Samsung phones handle ram in general, the extra 2 gbs don't do much and if the phone doesn't have the option of a micro sd, then you barely have a reason to get the more expensive version. However, since it still has micro SD, there's no reason to go to the 8gb with 512 gb. It's just not worth it.

It's still overpriced. Just because you have 1000usd to spend on a phone doesn't mean you should, especially when companies like oneplus are actually truly giving us bang for our buck.
Every year in each tech review the Note's price is always listed as the main, sometimes only negative. Look it back.
2013, Note 3, 550 GBP, "expensive for a phone"
2014, Note 4, 629 GBP, "pricey for a phone"
2015, Note 5, not in UK and Europe, 700 USD, "expensive"
2016, Note 7, recalled, 700 GBP/834 USD, "expensive"
2017, Note 8, 930 USD, "it's expensive".
2018, Note 9, 999 USD...
Somehow it does not surprise me that this year once more the price will be the Note's only negative.
Reviewers seem to assume that most consumers consider an upgrade each year. And mostly they do not realize that average Note owners only upgrade every three years. A Note is good enough to allow that. The best deal is a sim only contract and buy your phone separately. A Note every three years is a good buy then. The drawback is that three years later the next upgrade will cost another 300 USD more.
the question is, are those added features worth the extra $400? to most it would be a resounding no. i'm a techy engineer but i'm also budget conscious...i don't feel the added feature set of the notes are worth the hefty extra price
it's not just about the price being the negative, it's that its still the negative. we have companies like oneplus, oppo, zte and honor who are producing great priced phones with a rich feature set. why is it that we're in 2018 and still allowing samsung and apple to get away with asking us to pay $300+ extra

Costs $360-410 to make, Not justified as most of the cost is Advertising not cost of components and R&D. 128 GB chip costs $30-45 as an actual part, pretty much anytime they offer these super high storage options, the real price isnt all that high.
The could sell a ton more phones if they priced it at $800, i would venture to say they would overall make more money if they did. But they want a slightly higher profit margin then getting more phones to sell.
