- This is our Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Hands-On!
If there’s one thing that sets Samsung’s Galaxy Note line apart from any other phone, it’s the bundled stylus called the S Pen.
While the Note line is known for many other things, in many ways, it’s the S Pen that defines it. So this year, Samsung is rethinking the S-Pen: it’s not just a stylus anymore. It works as a Bluetooth remote for your presentations and a shutter for your travel OOTDs.
Aside from a reimagined S Pen though, there are other new things about the Samsung Galaxy Note 9: a larger battery, top of the line internals, and some heft in the pocket - both literally and figuratively. But are these improvements compelling enough for Note users to upgrade? And for non-Note users out there, is now the time to switch?

Costs approx USD900 here (slightly cheaper than note8) with FREE gear sport watch (299usd) for the base 128gb exynos version. For the Snapdragon US version, 50% off with selected carriers. Very aggressive marketing by Samsung for the Note 9. Wonder why...... makes me cautious....

The iPhone x justifies the price of their 256gb model just by storage alone. Nothing else. Priced at 1149 lol. So the note 9s 512gb is almost double the iPhone x storage for only a 100$ more and of course ppl are still complaining. The based iPhone is 999 at 64 GB and the base note 9 is double the storage at 128 with the same price. S8, S9 and note 8 users get a 300$ discount for upgrdging, knocking the price down to 699, and 950 for 512gb wow. The hate for Samsung is crazy

i totally agree with you, Samsung price their phone is justifiable because of the features they produce and now with the bluetooth s pen, that is a inovation. Inovation needs to be backen up with price which is very reasonable. Samsung note 9 has all the boxes check, plus with 4000 mah battery life extension, battery life is so great now on the note 9. for the $1000, you can use this phone to max productivity, i have nothing to complain except full of praise to the innovation samsung has showed , expecially the note 9. To me , note 8 is not match for NOTE 9, NOTE 9 is so much of an upgrade specially on the battery life and the S PEN. THE S PEN is going to be a hit. With its versitily, developers will be going to make the PEN GREAT. as the saying goes, THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD. Is so true, in the NOTE 9 series. No doubt about it is the best phone of 2018.

Naaa, disagree with the clicker being on the top of the pen. That could spark a highly difficult habit to break, activating things unintentionally. That could get frustrating fast.

I'm a Note8 user but will upgrade. Why? Bigger battery, more sPen functions, I do presentations weekly so that is a huge advantage for me. What else? Stereo speakers, dolby atmos, particularly for headphones where the difference is very noticeable, and the camera. Even though Note8 has a very good dual camera, I know from comparing with my wife's S9 plus, there is a noticeable difference in the quality of night shots, plus the AI functions will make photography easier. Then, there is storage, 512gb plus external will take care of my needs. Then there is ram, 8gb (bigger storage version) vs. 6gb on Note8. Then there is Dex, without me needing to carry around a dock in my bag. There are many reasons for me personally to upgrade. Not everyone has the same needs and the Note8 is an absolutely fantastic phone. However when you say Note8 owners shouldn't upgrade, you don't understand what these differences mean to business users of Note devices.

Abner Chilson Actually no. The Note is a business device for our firm, We buy 8 of them every year, it's a tax write off for us so it's much better for us to upgrade anyway. Having said that the bigger battery means less worrying about having to carry battery packs around on the process plants we build. Most of the consultant engineers have Notes so its very much a business device.
Android Wishes Don't be such a child. There are many reasons to upgrade, including business reasons. When you're old enough to learn about how business works, you'll understand. 😉
Brian M Well in that case go for it! I agree it is a nice upgrade but for the average consumer like me its not worth dishing out that much money on a 1 year upgrade, besides won't the note 10 be the 10 anniversary note? I expect it to have much better features.

This phone is offering a cooling system that is going to help performance, but it's not a big increase they say. The camera asks better intelligence, Bixby it's going to be better, docking is going to be better or even obsolete, and they're still complaining. Memory battery life Samsung says it's the most powerful smartphone yet, and people are still complaining

HighVoltMusic There is an application called SmartSwitch that you can use wireless and there is an adapter that comes in the box to transfer with smartswitch as well. Contacts, video, app, photos and more. It walks you through it during the initial setup.

For business meeting I would like a "reminder" button in the screen off memo. I am a Note 8 user and today I need to take many steps to access this functionality.
1. Save "screen off memo" in Notes
2. Activate air command
3. Choose "view all notes" option
4. Open "screen off memo" saved
5. Open "setup or ... " and choose "send to reminder" option

Well I upgraded from Samsung S7 edge to Note 9. Such a powerful phone. In looove with it! Totally different. Glad that I upgraded.

Can you please comment on the 'call' quality of the phone? Voice, Speaker/Sound Quality, Signal Reception etc...
For real tho, i had to argue with my friend about the notch, and he end up loses, he said that it was like a extension for the screen, as for 5" screen got a bit of left over. Then when we check it, it was not, it is part of the screen, the whole 5" including the notch. Second part, he said the headphone-jack is an old fahsioned way to listening a music. Well guess what, the sound of the ' incredible two in one headphone-jack and chager combo, is fucking ugly, the sounds is not getting any better eventhough im using the senheisser hd 4.30 G. Man, seriously, why these company tryna change the way a phone works into something else.
Ps : even bluetooth headphones are still comes with the 3.5 extension cord. Plus, the dongle makes the phones looks ugly, no kidding.
For me, this is the best review of Note 9, compared to other tech RUclipsrs. No fancy expression, just real and natural review. Keep it up GadgetMatch!
Had a good note4 past 4years.. suddenly died just 1week before the launch of note9! is there a conspiracy? 😂
Im particularly prone to dropping my hp every now and then. Dont like the curved edges cause 1, its gona crack/break easily and 2, ive seen how many struggle to get a proper screen protector and a casing that goes along well. But i love the s pen so much! Darn there arent any notable phones with stylus.. i hope i can keep this another 4years 😁

Having 3 issues with my note 8 for just 3 months. And the worst part is there's no updates at all! Found out that even the newer galaxy flagships have the same problem as the older model. Going back to sony.

I'm upgrading through Samsung upgrade from note 8 to note 9. People who say this is not a big upgrade over the note 8 are ignorant. And the fingerprint scanner on the note 8 is incredibly fast and easy to reach.

I can buy two OnePlus6 8 gig models for the price of one Note 9 where I live lol love my Note 8 but the price has just gone too far. In saying that an iPhone X cost more than the Note 9 and that's a 12 month old phone.
