In the Army, the Infantry use blue disc's behind their crossed rifles. What about just mounting a Rubicon Red disc behind the challenge coin the replaced the Trail Rated badge?

TRLDOC is my vote. Love the red arc brake controller. I put mine on the right side of the steering column. Center console is also an option for the radios if you don’t mind losing that storage space. Heat exchanger for hot water may be helpful.

Addressing your radio predicament… consider relocating the MTX575 GMRS to up under the driver-side (Matt over at Ozark Overland Adventures has a decent install tutorial) which will facilitate your goal of a short antenna lead, then install the HAM radio in the glovebox.
For a snorkel option, instead of cutting your hood for an external one, maybe consider that Rough Country has one that runs underneath the hood and replaces the passenger side cowling (Cara over at Ozark Overland Adventures runs one) that gives you options to just run as a cold-air intake or swap to the snorkel when you need it.
Hope that helps with some ideas! 👍🏼

I love that you are doing the first aid theme, as a former EMT I can truly appreciate the value of what you are doing. I am wondering if you can share with your viewers where they can get some basic first aid training and also if there is training that may be more valuable for those off-roading or out in nature in general. That's a great rig, only to become even better. With the Red Arc Brake Controller, I've found that mounting the control in the middle somewhere has proven to be beneficial for me. The reason is that if I have my hands full and need both hands on the wheel, the co-pilot can make the necessary adjustments. And, if I'm flying solo, I can still reach the controller quite easily and it doesn't get bumped. YMMV.

I love watching your videos, I get so many ideas. With regard to radios. I mounted my HAM/GMRS/CB bodies under the driver's seat, the mics are mounted with the faceplates on a Lido Radio seat rail mount. HAM antenna is on a driver side hood mount, GMRS antenna is on the right of my spare tire mount, and the CB antenna is on the left of my spare tire mount. Easy to route wires under my Goose Gear full plate (rear seat delete on 2021 JLUR). Would love to see what you're doing for off grid power on the Gladiator.

For the Ham head unit, I got a rearview mirror delete from CMM Offroad that replaces it with a RAM mount. It's perfect as the rearview mirror is useless anyways with a canopy/trailer.

Regarding the antenna for your GMRS, my solution was to relocate the XM/Sirius antenna from the B-pillar cross bar to the top of the driver side A-pillar using one of several relocation kits, then mount a low-profile 450-470 MHz Larsen antenna in it's place. Up high for better reception/transmission and fits fine under the hard top. One less thing sticking out to get caught on a branch as well....

The Tazer has a great camera hack that brings up the rear cam on turn signal. It helps when running without side mirrors and I find it great in the big city keeping an eye on cyclist coming up the sides.

    • @victorcavazos2762
      @victorcavazos2762 5 месяцев назад

I use all the features but on my 22 rubicon gladiator for the past 3 months it has been getting stuck on some settings like sometimes all the lights flash/strobe like the light show for no reason, I’m just unlocking it, the third brake sometimes stays on and I have to disconnect the tazer and plug back in to make stop and reset, after a couple of days I have to reset the tazer since it’s just doesn’t have power, and my camera turn signal doesn’t work anymore, if I go thru the settings on the steering wheel when I can’t to change something it just freezes and I have to unplug and reset and the issue repeats, I feel it’s just the tazer that bad but customer support is like non existent

You can extend the coax cable by using a barrel plug, which is an adapter that has a female connector on both ends. This will allow to attach an extension cable onto the existing cable, and to move the antenna to the other side of the vehicle.

A couple of suggestions for where to mount the main ham radio:
I think you might consider locating the main transceiver unit itself somewhere in the area where you're going to remove the rear seats. It should be ventilated and possibly a fan added if it's going to be within an enclosure. Also, I think your idea on where to locate the detachable face is a good location.👍
I guess for sure you're going to have a VHF, UHF, (2 m, 70cm ), transceiver so you can access repeater's, but is the ham radio also going to have HF capabilities?... ...And be just one all in one radio... ...70cm, 2m, 160m - 10 m & 6m? If so, it will make a difference on DC current in regards to the wiring; IE: correct wire gauge to power the unit, how to design an enclosure, route coax and also where to install the antennas.

Brad, you mentioned not liking the overhead mount for your radio. I have a JCR Molle Rack with my radio mounted and the microphone and the cord does not hang down at all and it makes it very easy to hear and use while on the road or trail. I also have other things stashed there too, like my sun hat. I also have my antenna mounted on the front edge of my JCR bed rack which may not work for Doc, but as you know, having a good metal ground plane helps with antenna performance. Can't post a photo here in the comments, but if you want to check it out let me know or go to JCR Offroad 😉

Great project and I like how goes on, for the antenna can buy or fabricate the bracket that goes on the screws fo side panel of the fender/cowl mount that are compatible with snorkel and have better ground... (Rugged radio Antenna Mount Near The Hood Side about 30bucks or cheaper version for less half price), always an inspiraction! CIAO from Italy

Goose Gear needs drawers in their seat deletes.
Since you don’t have a diesel, check out Genesis Off-road dual battery kit. Two full size batteries under the hood.

I mounted my Midland 575 under the steering wheel after you remove that plastic piece where you put your brake controller. I put my radio in there and then they have a cat five wire that comes over to your auxiliary switches you plug the microphone in there.

I have Squadron Pro lights in the same position and the light reflection off the bonnet is a challenge, more so with white then yellow. I will likely move them into the fog light steel bumper position.

Brad, here is a thought of extra storage. How about adding compartments to the bed that have doors on the outside of the bed? It would be like the the compartment and door that replaces the rear side window of the wrangler. Nate over at Dirt Life did this to his Discovery "Disco", but these would be in the side of the bed. Just a thought... As for the radio's....top shelf like Eddie over at Way of Life did, I know you can figure out the hanging mic cable problem...lol Can't wait to see this finished I know it will be Awesome!!

Hi Brad, I mounted my Midland similar to the way you did it but I still have my entire glove box. My antenna is on the driver side, no holes and you can't see it from the drivers seat. I will be at Jerry's on the 7th for his open house if you would like to see my install. I think you'll like it.
