I had fun doing this same install a couple of years ago. I tried to wrap the wires in electrical tape before feeding it down the steering column. As you can imagine that did not work well. As you said though the pull wire is a must. Overall a very easy project.

Wish my 64 Falcon was that easy. Put a smaller steering wheel on it and of course the turn signal didn't work with it. Thinking of just putting an aftermarket turn signal on thr column and saying good enough. A lot of what you do on these Mustangs are compatible with my Straight Six Falcon. Great job explaining how its done. Patience is key....which I tend to lack.

Thanks for walking through this. I know it is a pain to film and fix at the same time. Hopefully you can find the third brake pedal for the ole' Mustang because hippieness is not automatic (I give every man greif when I see his car is an automatic - just cuz :) ).

      Converted it to a T5, it’s in later videos…

Thanks so much. The sleeve at the bottom is tight. I was expecting to have to take out the steering column, which on my '65 is a PITA job, so I hear.

Yep, I’ve replaced my whole switch and wire harness assembly on my Ranchero, broke less than a month later. Now I just use my turnsignals like it’s a motorcycle and cancel them myself. Manual transmission, manual windows, manual choke, non power assist steering or brakes… might as well have non-automatic cancelling turn signals too!

Yeah, I am less than impressed with this replacement. I want to find a NOS switch.

I just replaced mine and it was the same exact one from Daniel Carpenter and I have the same exact steering wheel... And the new switch was broke within one week, one of those arms broke off because it would not cancel correctly just like you pointed out on yours... I'm not sure if it's supposed to cancel as soon as you start making the turn or when you're turning the wheel back to the straight position

Yeah mine cancels as soon as you start turning and that’s not right but it hasn’t broken.
So hard to find good quality today.

Would this affect the horn at all? I have a 66 mustang. Replaced the horn contact kit and still no luck. My right blinker isn't coming on either. Wasn't sure if there was any cross over there. Thanks

I read on a forum that the horn wire is apart of this assembly so maybe? Obviously check that your horn works too

They hold the collar up. I think they are 1/4-28 locknuts.
