King Tide: Pacific Ocean rolls into Lincoln City

- The Pacific Ocean, backed by the King Tide, put on a show for those in Lincoln City Monday, throwing its raw energy at seawalls up and down the coastal town.
One woman who is a Lincoln City resident, felt how cold the sea can be around 10:40 a.m. as she took the brunt of a wave that made it up and over a Nelscott Beach seawall.
"Not quite what I expected," she said as her family tended to her. The woman was undeterred from the ordeal and continued to watch the ocean deliver hits, which was described by watchers as soapy, milky and frothy.
Some onlookers had strategies, such as standing on the concrete tables to avoid getting wet, but even that seemed like a bad idea as the crashing waves got closer to them.
The beach was completely overtaken by the waves, at times, as the King Tide, brought on by an alignment of the Earth, moon and sun, was at its greatest tidal effect.
While it is considered fun by those who enjoy the thrilling nature display, it is dangerous and people should be aware of sneaker waves and rolling logs. The general rule is to not go near the beach on days like this.
According to those watching the King Tide Monday, the waves were not nearly as large as January of this year, when concrete benches were moved and ocean made it onto Anchor Avenue.
Still, many felt glad they came out to see the power of mother nature and could be seen taking photos, videos and making sure their children stayed well back from the edge.

I've never seen such foamy waves. They look delicious 😍 beautiful waves.
To my surprise, Phaeocystis happened to be the cause of the foam on the sea shore. The species involved is Phaeocystis pouchetti, it belongs to the Haptophyta, a group of small single-celled algae. Despite their small size, Haptophytes play an important part in marine ecology since many species can be found in astronomical numbers
Oregon has some gorgeous scenery. Wish I could visit.
It's even better in person. I'm from Oregon.
I totally agree. One summer in August 95 took almost entire month to explore the Oregon Coast and Portland. Went from Astoria to Brookings and took my time. Almost two weeks and then ended up at Crater Lake. Great time.
@@kindspirit7 You just INSPIRED me to do the Same 🚙💦👍
Anyone order a Rootbeer Float?? 😋😍
Absolutely beautiful! I would love to be there during a King tide 🥰
that is an insane amount of foam
Beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
That's the foamiest foam I've ever seen!
Very nice & fantastic. Amazing! #Masoodartgallery
Yeah, I totally get that!
Somebody added soap.
Dangerous but so beautiful !!!🤗
Awesome !
This is interesting. Never seen anything like this.
Never turn your back to the ocean with foam waves like this.
Never turn your back on the ocean, period.
Agree. Signs along Rocky northern California used to say just that. People don't really get the danger so I added the rest.
The foam is so aerated you cannot swim properly in it...can't get traction
Not sure why people thumb down this? Good stuff 👍
Semper Fi, Tony
Why does it look like some giant spilt his shaving cream in the ocean?
I think those are microorganisms
Sea foam
Amazing ocean.
I would be so afraid of being swept off there
I saw those tides at Haceta Head Lighthouse beach and they were crazy! There was no beach! (That foam and backwash would have been fun to see though. And combined with big waves in this video. So cool!)
Come down to Westport, Washington for the King Tides and you can view them from up high in the tower. I’ll see y’all there! 🌊
I'm down in Newport, and yes, sometimes those waves get pretty high.
That’s one pissed off looking ocean!!!
What street is that on? I’m assuming that’s pretty close to the seahorse hotel or no?
Very nice & fantastic. Amazing! #Masoodartgallery
Bigger at Nelscott!
I was born in Lincoln city ; )
I wasn’t 🤪
Questo è MARE!!!!
That's a lot of flotsam, daaaammmmnnn
almost looks like my beer after I shake it
Where exactly is this in LC?
Супер super👍👍
Is it normally like that or are they like mini tsunami waves?? I’m worried for those houses literally on the ocean
rare
King tides seem to be coming atleast yearly, but the Oregon coast is notoriously unpredictable. Lots of sneaker waves and rip currents.
Those large waves are terrifying. Glad I’m not there.
What is the foam from? Detergents?
Caused by the churning of organic material. Like algae.
What is all that foam
I wonder how many tourist phones get destroyed by salt water every day?
Why is the foam there?
When the beach houses get washed away do the taxes on the next row in go up instantly yet?
They will
The water is minging with the froff
I guess you beat anything fast enough it'll turn into whipped cream
wow! the whole beach is gone...
INSANE,,,i am From INDONESIA
What is that foam?? Ick
🙂
I would have thought tsunami
Why am I craving a vanilla milkshake?
😂🤣😅
Pacific Ocean??? Those waves are much smaller than The Great Lakes ( Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario) waves in USA & Canada.
These r the tides we have here on the west coast, not the ripples u have on the east coast...course the temp of the ocean is about 50 degree in the winter and around 60-65 in the summer
mmmmmm creamy
Laundry detergent
In less then 5 years this will be a daily event.
wonder exactly WHAT is in that sea foam... I'd have to guess some fun chemicals and other toxic junk.
Not exactly it can be Organix from seaweed Although I don’t doubt chemicals are probably mixed in as well certainly some radiation from Fukushima
haven't these rubes ever seen the ocean before?
God's hand is moving 🙏
Why they don’t run away they don’t know what happened next.

Hmm. No footage of the water going into town. Phony video title.
