Hi everyone! Today we'll test the most powerful upgrades available for halogen headlights. From the classic high power bulb rated at 100W, all the way to the 300W Xenon kit. Let's see how good these products really are! *The LEDs are rated at 60W per bulb.

About the Rating:
At the end of the video, I thought that it would be a nice idea to have a rating for the products that I test. So, based on the general 5 star rating used all over, I made my rating to better suit my personality. The rating is based on my testing and my opinion of a specific product. It takes into consideration many factors like performance, reliability, availability and many other aspects which are essential to a consumer. Of course, some of these factors may not be applicable to other regions or demographics. As price is another factor in this rating, a product may be cheaper in other regions, rendering my rating as inadequate. In this case, you should reconsider if the product is suitable for you or not.
About the tests:
Light output - This parameter was measured using a specific instrument called the Lux meter. As the name implies, this measures the LUX value of a specific light source. In other words, the amount of light that is hitting a surface. Compared with Lumen, which describes the total light output of a light source in all directions, Lux is more relevant in this case because it measures the light projected by the headlight. For example, a poorly designed headlight bulb with a high lumen rating will not focus the light properly. therefore it will have a bad Lux reading. We are interested in road illumination, not specific bulb brightness. The test was performed using a projector type headlight and a reflector type headlight. The headlight units were positioned at 3m and at 35m from the projection surface, where the measurement was made. Every bulb was powered using the power supply set at 14 volts.
Headlight/wiring temperature - in this test, the products have been installed in the headlamp and have been allowed to reach operating temperature for 30min before inspecting the temperature using a FLIR infrared camera. Every bulb was powered using the power supply set at 14 volts.
Efficiency loss (only LEDs) - in this test, the initial light output of the LEDs was recorded and after they reached the operating temperature, the light output was recorded again and the difference is expressed in a specific percentage. Every bulb was powered using the power supply set at 14 volts.
Waterproof test (only LEDs and Xenon control units) - in this test the products were submerged underwater for 1 hour. Every bulb was powered using the power supply set at 14 volts. Upon investigation, there was no water ingress.
ON/OFF test - in order to subject the products to continuous use, they were power on for 10 minutes and off for 10 minutes. The test lasted 10 hours. Every bulb was powered using the power supply set at 14 volts.
Flash test - in this test, the products were flashed every second for 10 hours. Every bulb was powered using the power supply set at 14 volts.
Drop test - in this test, the products were dropped every second for 10 hours. Every bulb was powered using the power supply set at 14 volts.

Lucky you write the comment in english 1st. I just used to bosch and osram bulb only so far.
@@c4prlm4st3r I used all, from my point of view the difference between them is the long lifespan from Bosch. I recommend Bosch Gigalight plus 120.

Excellent video. Laser headlight test when?
This was the best bulb test I've seen on RUclips yet. It really showed how incredibly broad and even the 150 watt xenon bulbs would be in a bi-xenon projector headlight which can aim them with precision. 55 watt xenons would be perfect for reflector driving lights. Last the high powered 60 watt X7 would be ideal high beams for the speed of flashing to pass and the long distance intensity. Again I love this test.
Yeah, except they will BURN TOUR BOWLS and Force you to need an entire Headlight Replacement. Do some research man. Nobody uses those for a reason.

except for the terrible beam pattern you cause if you're converting a halogen bulb low beam headlight to a different style as is shown at 9:54 .. that would blind oncoming drivers
@@donbeary6394 part of what makes Bi-Xenon work so well is the steerable projector and lens used to control the beam with precision. Can’t just slap a xenon bulb in a low beam halogen reflector headlight and blind people.

Sergiu, great videos and I've found all of the lighting explorations helpful, entertaining and informative.
I may ask though, with all of the aftermarket options why are most of these focused on odd-brand competitors and I feel are missing some of the more established players in the market. Osram, Philips, Wagner, and reputable aftermarket brands like Morimoto, Diode Dynamics or GTR Lighting.
I think this would give a good illustration of the different aspects of lighting, at different price points and allow us to see the different techniques used in achieving or failing to achieve their advertised specifications.

According to your tests, i bought Bevinsee V35 LED's for my car. My car has projector type headlights and in far distances i cant see any much differences. Is it a typical feature of LED's or did installed my wrong? Because i have a nice clear cut in front of the screen.

Salut Sergiu, am pus niste becuri led pe masina si dupa ce le-am pus si le-am lasat 3-4 minute aprinse, ardea acel radiator/racitor destul de tare, iar afara erau 2 grade. In sensul ca daca puneam mana pe radiatorul acela cu ventilatie aproape ca te ardea la mana. E ok?
i use 100/160 watt halogen bulbs in my old school halogen H-4 cars! w/ 70 amp relays wired direct to battery and use ceramic bulb sockets ( both fr e bay ! )

THANK YOU! ... you're the first to show the beam pattern at a long distance, up close they might look acceptable but at 100 feet it shows they are all terrible and will blind oncoming drivers ... 9:54 A perfect example of why converting your headlamp to a style of bulb it didn't come with is terrible idea for others
Ai idee la ce temperatura ajung becurile de 100w vs cele de 55. Mar interesa modelul acesta : Osram, H4, Cool Blue Boost, 12V, 100/90W. Și sunt curios dacă intr-un Lodgy 2019 ar afecta instalația electrica.

I have a problem, I own such a xenon kit 150w with 150w bulbs of course, I drive an Opel Vectra c 2003, and I read that many people have a similar problem, and the problem is with the ECU or the computer that does not allow higher consumption per headlight than 55w, it happens that the light comes on and starts to flash, then it goes off or it goes off after a few seconds, when I put halogen or LED bulbs everything works fine, the cables are good, I checked them with a unimeter, they don't have breaks, so I'm wondering if you have a solution because I've already spent over 300 euros for everything and anything, but nothing lights up better than xenon bulbs in the projector ;)

You should test the gtr lighting ultra 2. They are a bit expensive but they are the best led I have found

I replaced my dim halogen to a cheap LED on my motorcycle, its not the most powerful but it works and I didn't have to rewire anything

In my country (Bulgaria) Fuchs oil is very well respected brand and I am interested to see the results from your tests.
They produce their oils in two different countries. One is in Mannheim Germany as in my country they say "The Original" and the other is in Poland Gliwice. Very curious to see if there is a difference between two of them too.
