Can't wait to see your gala dress!!!!! I also, love London. I have not, however, been to Kensington., Liberty, or Gold Hawk Rd. I will definitatly make it a point to go go these locations!!!!!! Thank you and Martin for sharing your trip.
What a lovely trip. Martin looks quite dapper dressed in a suit & tie. The Ritz was beautiful. So glad you had a great time and a much needed break. Thank you for taking us along!!
Thank you for showing your time in London. We are fortunate to have visited London twice from Ontario, Canada. You and Martin brought back great memories of our time walking London streets, and yes we went to Goldhawk road. Your time is precious but you choose to share so much of your time with us, you are greatly appreciated. Happy Easter to you and Martin and your family.
I bought the cherries fabric last year and made a fringe dress. It was a lot more than £4.50 a metre! Looks like you had a wonderful time. I only live about 20 miles south of central London but have never been shopping on the Goldhawk Road! Liberty however I adore and just love a wander around it - I used to just mooch around when I worked in London and had time to spare. I hope Pieper enjoyed his mini vacation. Take care of yourself.
Rachel, thank you for taking me down memory lane. I lived in London in my younger years ( stockwell and Harrow on the Hill ) with a short period in Milton Keynes before moving back to Denmark. it was so lovely to revisiting fracthments again, as i have not been back since 2016, i only go back for long weekend breaks now ;) And Libertys .. oh my word !!!! i think i could dissapear in their fabric section LOL ....i was pleasently surprised to see that you still can buy books from a bookshop in London, my favorite bookshop was WHS, here i would stock up when ever i had the chance :) thank you again, it was awesome to " be back " All the best Anette
Thank you for sharing your special time away with us . Visiting the UK is right up my bucket list and of course London. It was ever so interesting to see V and A museum and all the other sights. Fingers 2023 will be my year of travel. Look forward to seeing your makes with your special fabric purchased .
Dont worry about you working it has to be done. It is very tiering especially long hours you do. London vlog was lovely. I loved the silk from Gold Hawke Road. It is absolutely stunning. I have just finished the Etty its a quick make and beautiful. Instructions are very good. I have made it longer to go under a see through dress. I did it in white satin. xx
Btw..I love Dead Can Dance..tell Martin he has impeccable taste in music..I saw them about 2.5 years ago at Hammersmith..My girlfriend,Rachael..is the sewer..very very talented..but as the partner of a dedicated sewer/maker..I have learned to love a princess seam,a good helpful toile..etc..we both enjoy your vlog..looking forward to the sewing bee..like many
Thank you for taking us along on your trip. Oh, and thank you for letting Martin go since he entertains us, lol. I enjoyed it all, especially your fabrics.
Thank you for taking us all along to London. I was there 100 years ago and it was so nice to see. I've never been or even seen inside the Ritz and that was so special. Great to see Martin too since haven't seen him since Christmas time. Your vlogs never disappoint Rachel. sorry you've had to work so much - before and now after your break. Looking forward to your sew along. PS: I do enjoy your fabric hauls so don't stop showing us what you've gotten!
Thank you for taking us along on your trip. I've never been to London, or Yorkshire for that matter, but now I definitely want to go. And I'm a huge DCD fan. So glad you enjoyed their concert.
I enjoyed your video very much. London is such a beautiful city and I would like to visit sometime in the future. The Ritz is so nicely decorated and you as well as Martin were dressed very well for afternoon tea. The fabrics you purchased are very beautiful and I look forward to seeing them made into garments. Thank you for sharing. Have a great rest of the day!
That was so fun to watch! Gorgeous fabrics you chose, such a treat and they will no doubt make amazing garments. I can see the Deer and Doe Magnolia made up in the silk fabric.
That was absolutely wonderful Thank you for sharing your trip to London You were on a lovely getaway to relax and enjoy just relaxing And you took the time to film a little for us that was above and beyond Thank you so much From here in Canada 🇨🇦 Going to London is on my list of places to visit for the history and of course the Royal family museums Castles and history love it all The liberty shop was fabulous That is on my list should I ever get there You don't have to apologize for being busy with work and life is busy Looking forward to the sew along You take care Thank you again that was fantastic God bless you both
Thank you for sharing your trip to London, tea at the Ritz looked amazing I don't think I'd ever get my hubby somewhere like that. I don't blame you for splurging in Liberty that fabric looked so beautiful
I haven't been to London for many years. Had a chance to live there, but couldn't stand the traffic, wait lines for everything and after a year headed back to British Columbia, Canada, and here I sit on the beach till the end of my days. I do enjoy seeing everything again in your video. Kensington was, and I expect is today, way too expensive for me, but fun wandering around for a look The Ritz tea is delicious, but another one of those ungodly expensive things. Nice for a special treat. We used to go to London for a week every couple of years, to take in the shows. As many as we could pack in. Theatre is great in London. I like it much more than New York. Glad you had a great time. Your video was a fun watch. You can thank Canada for the lovely gates. They were a gift from us to the Queen, so called Canada Gate.
Ahhh...so enjoyed this vlog Rachel.... always love a trip around London 🇬🇧💂. You fit in such a lot ...got to be done when in London, but tiering though 😉. Fantastic fabrics bought and great plans for them 👌💞. Hope Piper was ok with your kind friend who took him in and that he behaved himself 😁🙏🐾. Hoping to catch you tomorrow evening 👍💝😘
London looks fabulous - although the closest I will ever get is that my son lived in England & Scotland) for 2 years. - and didn’t even bring me back a souvenir from Goldhawk Rd!!! Certainly a dream of mine to visit the UK. - one day. The fabrics you bought - the Liberty floral is gorgeous and I love the silk floral too. Looking forward to seeing them made up. Tea at the Ritz, what a wonderful experience & memory. Good that you finally got to the concert - yes, I’ve def. Heard of the band. Lisa Gerard lived/lives in Gippsland and one of my friends who i attended Gippstafe (technical college) with where we studied fashion, had made a couple of garments for her .
Thanks Rachel for a great vlog and sharing your London trip with us. Glad you had a good break. I can't wait to get back there for a visit - my last time in London was November 2019 (pre-pandemic world !!) and got to Liberty and V + A - so lovely.
Thank you for sharing your London trip Rachel. It looks like you had a wonderful time and it was so nice to see London. It has been quite a few years since I was last there. Such a treat getting to go to the Ritz and Liberty. You certainly found some beautiful fabrics and I look forward to seeing what you make. Hope to join you for the Sewalong tomorrow 😃
Rachel - YOU are an amazing woman - have I told you that lately? You exhaust me with all that you do. The London trip was so special for me as well. Thank you so much for that glimpse into the Ritz! Wow. I relived much of my last trip to London with you and Martin. You know you’ve bought a lot of fabric when you purchase a giant suitcase AND ship a huge box of fabric back to the states as well. Gold Hawk Road was so fun AND I have just sewn up both pieces of Liberty Tana Lawn fabric into two blouses. Just need to do the buttons/buttonholes today! I used it for button plackets, cuffs, collar and pockets. Love it so much! Good to know that Classic Textiles has Tana Lawn for less. Your fabric purchases are wonderful. Hugs and loves from Oregon…
Great vlog 😊. A word of advice on your Etty cami. I made this during your sew along eve and followed the instructions to the letter. The fit and scallop edge was lovely, but the finishing on the inside is untidy. Definitely use your skills to finish the inside beautifully with that precious fabric. 😍
Looks like a great trip. Love the V&A. Those dresses are exquisite. If the Union Jack is flying above Buckingham Palace instead of the Standard, The Queen is not in residence
Rachel so lovely to see you again on your channel with your husband in London. The Riz and Liberty are my favourite place to visit so vintage and well looked after. Yours Martin is right about the flag at Bukingham Palace Queen is in if the flag is put up down/ half way when the Queen is out. Happy sewing beautiful fabrics as always ❤ 😊 ❤
I live in the USA, in Kansas, which is the midwest. England is one of the countries I would love to visit. I'm also a Licensed nurse and do the 6p-6a shift in a psych facility, so I know how you feel. I love all your videos but enjoy seeing your countryside as well. It looks like you had a wonderful trip!!🙂
That 2nd fabric looks like it should be called "visions of the California coast" to me; I see the Griffith Observatory in LA, I see Palm trees, surfers & well Basketballs... all lovely fabrics, fun video!
I loved getting to see your trip. Thank you so much for sharing! I'm in Pennsylvania in the US, so it was nice to see all the sites. Your fabrics are all gorgeous!
Lovely vlog. It's really nice to catch up with you and Martin. Don't worry about the vlogs - it will all get done eventually and it's all a bonus. No pressure. I made a Frida from Tana Lawn. It is lovely. As well as being a very luxurious fabric and a really easy one to sew with, it's also very hard wearing so anything you make from it should last a long time. Another justification for buying it, though none is needed. See you tomorrow!
Can’t thank you enough for the “tour” of places in London that I’ve read/heard about but will probably not be able to experience. It’s definitely the tour I would want …V and A (those dresses!), Liberty, the leisurely stroll by Kensington. Loved it. Added bonus: my granddaughter quietly drifted off to sleep (it was her nap time) to the beautiful music ☺️
Heading to Liberty - why are people walking in the street and not the sidewalk? I really enjoyed this tour. A lot of bicycles it seems. How often does the guard change? Good thing their right arms work Hope you had a special time with your husband. He dresses up nice. What did you have to eat for dinners and breakfast? I'm a sewer but also a foodie. I LOVE the music you chose for background.. Can't wait to see your fabric choices. I feel like I just took a vacation! Is liberty fabrics considered high end? Love, love the blue print = Tamlin would like it also! She likes astrology it seems. The silk looks like a dream and will make a gorgeous summer dress. By the way, blazers are my favorite item to make. No way can I wear mine out in the time I have left. Thanks for sharing
Rachel, I enjoyed this video, and was saddened to see your sew-along had to be postponed. I, along with your legions of fans/friends are hoping you are ok. You have a channel filled with people who care. I wish you the best.
Looks like you had a fantastic time, especially the tea at the Ritz😍 I too am a country girl who loves London, the V&A & Liberty(although the only thing I’ve bought from there is a Christmas tree bauble!) I think we all need a city visit from time to time so we come home & enjoy our countryside even more
Hi Rachel! Loving all your fabrics. Your trip looked brilliant, I was in London with my sister a few weeks ago and we went to the V&A too. I loved all the vintage dresses, and we walked past Liberty's, but we didn't go in because I'd just spent over £300 in All Saints on a bag and a scarf! 😆😆 Good luck with your silk dress. 😃😃 Lynne
Thank you so much Rachel for taking us along with you. Love all the fabrics, just gorgeous. The very last fabric the one you are making for the retreat visit is so, so beautiful. Will you line it with a black fabric? I just know you are going to make something stunning. Martin made me giggle in the Ritz pouring out his tea from a silver teapot, :) He looks like a bag in a mug kind of guy... LOL So lucky to see the changing of the guard! I always think that when having been away even for a few days, you need a few day to recuperate after. Take care and look forward to seeing the Liberty Makes. Love to you both :)
I am glad you both enjoyed your trip. The Ritz is so beautiful,I'm surprised that they allowed you to film but I'm so glad they did.I loved the silver tea set, what tea was Martin drinking as it looked pinkish. The fabrics you bought in Liberty were gorgeous and you so deserved them. I also loved the Goldhawk road fabrics, the embroidery is fab. The silk you bought is so unusual.it will look outstanding.Instead of lining it have you thought of making or buying a flesh coloured maxi(or whatever length dress you make)slip? The fabric would then keep its diaphanous look. How did Pipier enjoy his break?
OMG, The liberty store is incredible.........the dress you thought about recreating is stunning.......is that fabric a vintage liberty print or can you still buy it? I love how the front almost looks quite prairie and the back is very now!!
Thank you for showing us around London. Lovely to see you and Martin together. He is such a laugh.
Thank you for sharing your break in London with us! So beautiful!
I really enjoyed watching this. Thank you for taking time out of your vacay to film so we could enjoy it too!
Can't wait to see your gala dress!!!!! I also, love London. I have not, however, been to Kensington., Liberty, or Gold Hawk Rd. I will definitatly make it a point to go go these locations!!!!!! Thank you and Martin for sharing your trip.

Lovely to see you both in London. I am off to the Goldhawk Road in May - can't wait. Love all the fabrics. I hope that real work calms down soon.

Don’t change anything about your vlogs Rachel. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your trip. I'm from Illinois and have changed planes at Heathrow, but have seen none of London.
Lovely vlog. It's really nice to catch up with you and Martin. Don't worry about the vlogs - it will all get done eventually and it's all a bonus. No pressure.

Amazing vlog Rachel! Thanks for sharing your trip to London with all lovely sights and all that amazing fabric! I need a trip to Liberty's 😄
They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace. Christopher Robin rode down with Alice.

What a great trip! I live in the US but my dream is to visit London someday. Looks like you both had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely sightseeing. Weird watching this for the first time after the death of Queen Elizabeth.
A good starting point pattern for the Liberty dress you want to recreate is the Estella dress by Papercut Patterns.
Looks like you had a fantastic time, especially the tea at the Ritz😍
I too am a country girl who loves London, the V&A & Liberty(although the only thing I’ve bought from there is a Christmas tree bauble!) I think we all need a city visit from time to time so we come home & enjoy our countryside even more
LOL
So lucky to see the changing of the guard!
That’s a great idea!
It was Passion Fruit and Orange Tea.
OMG, The liberty store is incredible.........the dress you thought about recreating is stunning.......is that fabric a vintage liberty print or can you still buy it? I love how the front almost looks quite prairie and the back is very now!!
A blouse for 37.50 is hardly expensive. You can’t beat the quality from Liberty
🐯
I forgot to ask is your nose piercing new as I'm only just noticing it .
It is yes
