Driver positions are great if you want to work your life away. They get paid good and it's "relatively" easy work. I just didn't like signing my life away to be a driver for 60+ hours a week. I enjoy free time and want to continue my education. If you are fine with being worked to the maximum then its a gig for you.
If you worked 60 hours a week then that's on you. The union is there to protect you, use it. After 50 you can say absolutely not and there ain't a thing they can do about it.
I worked at ups when I was 18. 1998. I was convinced to leave my union position after a year or so for a supervisor position in the early am. I was 18 and 130 pounds. No one wanted to hear shit from me. I ended up leaving with my tail between my legs. Moved out west, did ecstasy too much got sick of myself and joined the coast guard. I learned a lot while at ups though and was able to draw on those lessons in other positions in life. It was an experience I was glad to have.
The worst thing you could do, is let them convince you to become a sup😂 they tried that with me, but I knew better. Nope, just give me that driver position😂🤣 it's not worth the stress and headaches

5+ years, actually working in the area of XR building simulations for new employees. UPS is a big company with many opportunities to go in different directions. Pilots, Drivers, Programmers, etc. One of the few companies that try to keep you if you are good at what you do.
You must work at another company than the UPS , my daughter works a ups warehouse and she don’t don’t get any benefits for “9” months before she get any benefits. Also she only gets 18 to 23 hrs. A week
I have worked there for 2 years now and I have even done package delivery to so yes the company pays medical but if you become part of management you have to pay cuz you know longer can be in the union.

Be wary of the Teamsters pension especially from the western states that holds the Local 435 pension. It's been sending out mailers that unless they get a Congressional bailout they have a good chance of insolvency.
I was told I would get health benefits after 400 hours. After I hit my 400 my manager said oh wait it’s 9 months so I left to go to Amazon where I got my medical and paid time off on day 1 plus paid holidays. Ups can’t keep employees because it takes so long to get medical, time off and holidays! Ups could keep the good / great workers if they would offer more on day 1
UPS WHERE 60% OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE PART TIME.. THEY ARE EXHAUSTED,DISGUSTED AND BROKE..NEVER MADE MORE THAN $31K YR AFTER 12 YRS..DONT BELIEVE THE HIGH WAGE HYPE..UPS IS AWFUL
Just started working there this week, they raised the pay rate for part time package handler to 22$/hour which is great, but for me first week is really tiring, I basically load the trucks with heavy packages up to 70lb. or more, a lot of bruises on my forearms, some cuts at the back of my hand, and after the first two days everything hurts and sores, I had to take pain killer the next day in order to continue working, but that's probably because I never exercise before and just get into this job certainly, I was supposed to load at least 300 packages per hour onto the trucks, but I was really slow since most of them are too heavy for me. I learned to bring gloves and I'm thinking of long sleeves but it was too hot for that because there was no air conditioner or fans or anything because I think the building I work at was an ancient one so it's really old. Wouldn't recommend for someone who never exercise and skinny like me(I weigh only 120lb.) but since the pay is good and with a lot of benefits I'll have to endure it, maybe I'll get use to it in a couple more weeks or so, once I built up more of my stamina.
Hi sounds like your hub or preload ? If preload i was poo then became great . Did it for 1 year & a half . It’s a lot of work but being agile and knowing where your gonna place the packages is always a go too . Also try stacking some small ones together to bring in at once . STAY HYDRATED it’s definitely hot , also stretching and even try getting there a few minutes before start time so you can get some work done before it gets hectic just some tips . 💪🏾🥇
@@UchihaVengeance- Hey thanks for the tips, I've gotten used to it now after a little over a month, some of my muscles are still sores and my legs are still hurt from all the walking standing and climbing, I don't know if it's preload but they called us PCM. Question: Do you know what the exact pay rates are cuz when they let me fill in the union membership application they told me to fill in 22/hour but when I got my paychecks it was only 21/hour so idk which is the correct one, if you know please let me know.
@@sambatphu806 not sure what pcm would mean . As far as pay rate in my area stating 14 and some change. Once your there for a year you start to get a raise every august I’m pretty sure . I had to go to my supervisor and ask ya know might be different for you.
Yes! Not sure exactly how warehouse managers choose who is at which station, but there was 3 smaller females doing "small sort". Where they assemble 3 - 10 tiny packages into a larger zip up container. It kind of looks like an oversized pencil case. They weigh less than 5 lbs when full for sure.
Hi. Heavy packages aren't that much of a big deal. Of course, anything heavy will be on the bottom and depending on the size of the package, and how close the rollers are positioned near your wall, any heavy can be rolled to the floor then pushed to the wall. (This is what I do....unless it's a hazmat or fragile)

In Michigan, the buildings were heated to 40 degrees but in the winter time they opened all the doors for semis and so the building was 5-10 degrees. I was paid 22k a year for part time work with vacay and health insurance. Its a good part time job for high school education. However, I found it to be a toxic working environment. You just summed it all up in a single paragraph. The first day that I ever went out to train with an on road sup doing the driving he stopped for lunch at 6pm and did paper work for about 30 minutes on the "lunch hour". However, the money was always good along with the benefits.

UPS sets young sups up for failure when they send them out to direct employees who’ve been doing the job for 5-10 years. A lot of them are successful.
