⛵Today, I'll be demonstrating how I created a second layer of side planking for the Santa Maria ship model hull. I'll be sharing my approach to planking, as well as the tools I've made and use to make the process easier.
📺🍔🍟So sit back, relax, and enjoy the video as I guide you through the steps and techniques I used to accomplish this project.

In this video series, I am constructing a model of the Santa Maria sailboat - the largest ship from Christopher Columbus's 1492 expedition. The model is based on a 1/65 scale kit from Amati.
As Amati ship model kits are often simplified for easier assembly, I am making significant modifications and corrections to certain elements.
To gain a better understanding of how to revamp these construction elements, I am utilizing various resources, such as ship modeling materials, online information about 15th-16th century sailboats, and Xavier Pastor's book "The Ships of Christopher Columbus. Santa Maria, Niña, Pinta" from the Anatomy of the Ship collection, etc.
However, due to the limited evidence available regarding the appearance of Columbus's ships, I am allowing myself some creative freedom when building this sailboat model.

Great job on this video! I really enjoyed watching you construct a model of the Santa Maria, one of the largest ships from Christopher Columbus's expedition in 1492. I appreciate that you've taken the time to make significant changes and corrections to some of the elements in the Amati kit, which are often simplified for ease of assembly. It's clear that you've put a lot of research into the project, drawing on resources like ship modeling materials, online information about 15th- and 16th-century ships, and even Xavier Pastor's book "Ships of Christopher Columbus. Keep up the great work!
Thank you indeed:)
Super ! ❤
🤩
Absolutely one of the best videos on building a beautiful ship replica. Production was excellent, music sweet. Love from America, God bless and God speed, Shalom.
Thank you very much!
nice!
Thank you!
Great informative video, your planking is very neat and precise, this is the first of your videos I have seen, will definitely be checking out your others. Interesting tools you make to assist your build.
Thank you very much and Welcome aboard!
That’s a great planking tutorial. 😊
Thank you!
Great! when are you planning the next video?
Thank you. Everything has its time;)
How to get drawing.?
I use drawings from the kit, illustrations from books about replicas and reconstruction. For some details I made models in Fusion360. But I did not do any “general” drawings.
