This was played for the 92 Olympics, “Barcelona” That was her home town. Freddie was going to do just one song with her, she had other ideas she said let’s make an album.😂
That Freddie was able to write an entire opera album to fit his & Montsy's styles together astounds me. Especially considering that rock was his expertise and opera only a personal listening enjoyment for him until Barcelona. He actually named Montserrat as his favorite singer and said in a tv interview he would love to collaborate with her. She saw the interview and the rest is history.
Freddie wrote Barcelona and it's about his first meeting with Montserrat. As he went on to write the rest of the album, he would sing Montserrat's parts and send them to her for her approval. One of these was produced and put on one of his solo albums. It's called "Exercises In Free Love"! If you thought Freddie couldn't sing opera, just take a quick listen, and it will change everything you thought you knew about Freddie Mercury! Love your reactions!! Thanks!
This is the thing about Freddie is that what he does, he does very, very well. It's no exaggeration that he's tagged as being a legendary performer.

I love this album. I adore Freddie and his voice. What a collaboration. Rock and opera fusion.. utterly fantastic. Two different worlds of music meet. They were both each enamored with the other.
Forever Magnificent! And, Freddie fulfilled his dream. This song was performed and was the theme song at the Olympics in Barcelona...after his death. I cried buckets.
They had a deep love and respect for each other and it shows.
Beautiful reaction and yes the sound quality was deeply appreciated this end as well .... and no, I can’t think of anything that Freddie was involved with that was not epic. Everything he did was GGP ... genius, genuine and passionate!

Would I have listened to her without Freddie? Probably not. I am glad he fulfilled his dream of singing opera with his favorite opera singer. She has the voice & he did too. Opening another door for fans. He had excellent taste. Thank you for doing this song. What a surprise! Loved it!
