Freddie was always a lover of Opera and a fan of Montserrat in particular, and it was arranged that they would meet. He recorded a demo tape for her, Exercises in Free Love, which eventually became Ensueno on the album. Freddie was so nervous about meeting her that he smoked 2 packs of cigarettes while he was waiting for her to arrive at the hotel. "You always think opera divas are going to be austere and very sort of frightening - but she jokes and swears and, you know, she's a human being. She doesn't take herself too seriously. "Her and me together is so ridiculous when you think about it. But if we have something musically together it doesn't matter what we look like or where we come from."
I love your comment and Freddie quotes. I've always admired how Freddie respected Monsey. Would all rock stars have not cared about looks or age difference and been as desirous of appearing live with her? I don't think so. Freddie looked at the heart and soul and at the music and found a kindred spirit.
Omg so beautiful tears down my cheek. This should bee the opening-song to the olympic summer game in Barcelona in -92. Freddie told Monzy as he called her that then I dont come to be here, I think that he told her in -89. When -92 came I think she song with him on a screen who was back her, she had said to the arrangment of the olympic, that she would not sing that song with anybody else. Only with him....so they arrang it. I think she sang it for some footballgame who was there too. Freddie had told her that he had AIDS so she knew it when he said he not come to bee here. 🥺😢
I'm so glad Freddie got to do this, it made him so happy. Montserrat and he really cared for each other. There are several interviews of each of them about the other and at least one of them together.
Not sure if you know, but this is part of an album called Barcelona. Its duets. Freddie composed the music specifically for the two of them. Its absolutely amazing & was above suc cess. This song was the theme song of the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona in 1992 , the year after Freddie died. They were close friends & fans of each other. He told her about his health issues & she kept his secret, as a true friend. Theres a lovely picture of her with his family at the dedication of his statue. Also, she did a few interviews discussing Freddie & their experiences together & their relationship.
Yes, there's a 30 minute or so doc on MC and Freddie's meeting, friendship and the construction of how this (Barcelona) and the album came together before he got too sick 💔 its beautiful and heartbreaking aswell. It's on RUclips
Nice reaction again! Most of the reactors become speechless from this song for the first time, never mind it. Montserrat and Freddie were ARTISTS not only 2 singers. They've become true friends and she was really sad, that Freddie was who passed away earlier. Please, check out one of Montserrat's interviews about their collaboration.
Montse, Freddie, at Ku Club, San Rafael, Ibiza. It just doesn't get any better. Now called Privilege, it is the world's largest nightclub according to the Guinness Book of Records.
I apologise now for all my comments! firstly thankyou for reacting! they compliment each other while staying true to who they are,I love them working together so glad he had the chance to do this
Towards the end when he grabs her hands she said he was crying because he knew or realize that it was going to be one of his last performances watching that after hearing her interview always brings me to tears he was such a gentle soul, gentle, generous, shy and loving man and it breaks my heart to know how sad he was great reaction I'm so glad you enjoyed it
I feel terrible even stepping on Freddie, the GOAT'S toes... but for REAL! Check out Pavarotti and James Brown "This is a Man's World!" Pavarotti had this album (80s?) where he invited other genre singers to join him (he, himself an OG like no other!) all the performances were gold, but if you want chills like this just provided, I PROMISE you, watch the number I mentioned! I never knew James Brown was so smooth himself! I love always learning the diversity of all singers! Again, you brought magic into my day! Thank you!♥️😘♥️
My good man, this is Freedie in his full vocal range. Monserrat is an spanish opera singer and they meet there in Barcelona. This song was ment to be the anthem for the Barcelona Olimpic Games in 1992, but saddly Freddie died a few months before by the end od 1991. I think this is the first time I see you not pausing the video and that means you were really into the performance. By the by, did you notice Freedie did not use a microphone?
Bevor Montserrat Caballe sing together with Freddie she say it cant be difficult to sing with a Rocksinger. After she say it Was one of the greatest Emotions ever for her and his voice a surprise
Freddie was highly educated in a private school who had a great education and a love of arts. His family moved to the U.K. How thankful we are to know Freddie who’s so talented and a lot of people don’t know he worked these sons. If you want to see a tribute go to green day London.
Sorry for being picky, but that typo could be corrected. Her name is Montserrat (not monst...). Known as 'La Superba', she passed in 2018 and was one of the last great operatic divas and was from Barcelona. For a real treat, listen to more of their music together. Those two titans of music were meant to sing together -- it's just wonderful!
I love that you tried this very different duet. The wonderful thing I noticed was your shirt! It highlighted this “odd pairing” and it’s mixing 2 styles and respect for 2 musicians of different cultures and different genres

Freddie the Great! yes totally agree with you, those volcanic voices🔥 just wow 101%. Their voice meant for each other!
as always , nice reaction 💛
Thank you 🙏🏽🤗
As a Queen/Freddie fan from the start, I love seeing young people react and hear MUSIC>....
THANK YOU>
❤️ Freddie the great
Not sure if you know, but this is part of an album called Barcelona.
Freddie, Freddie, Freddie! What a duet. The entire album, Barcelona, is really good.
It's stunning💛Freddie wrote this.
He wrote it with Mike Moran who I believe contributed significantly to the entire Barcelona album.

I think mike was prodiminantly music and freddie lyrics
But Freddie gave the theme, tone..of what he wanted and of course tweaked it!
Didn’t know that. Even more impressive
Yes, there's a 30 minute or so doc on MC and Freddie's meeting, friendship and the construction of how this (Barcelona) and the album came together before he got too sick 💔 its beautiful and heartbreaking aswell. It's on RUclips
Monserrat Caballé maravillosa siempre. D.E.P los dos
Freddie really could do it all!!! :)
Freddie the Great indeed!
❤️
It looks like he wants to jump out of his tuxedo. 😂
Love him! ❤
Yes Exercises in Free Love, you'll hear Freddie's high soprano voice. Great reaction.
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Nice reaction again! Most of the reactors become speechless from this song for the first time, never mind it. Montserrat and Freddie were ARTISTS not only 2 singers. They've become true friends and she was really sad, that Freddie was who passed away earlier. Please, check out one of Montserrat's interviews about their collaboration.
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Montse, Freddie, at Ku Club, San Rafael, Ibiza. It just doesn't get any better. Now called Privilege, it is the world's largest nightclub according to the Guinness Book of Records.
My favourite version.👍👍👍
Two of the world's greatest talents sing "Rockpera" Absolutely FANTASTIC!!
My...God....goosebumps every time!
I apologise now for all my comments!
firstly thankyou for reacting!
they compliment each other while staying true to who they are,I love them working together so glad he had the chance to do this
Lol never apologize for comments i read them all and enjoy doing it.
Freddie wrote this song and a hand in the music!!,
Truly awesome performance. Yes you buttered the names. No problems
Wonderful song for a Wonderful City.
Fantastic song they were so good together
She performed this at 92 Olympics with Freddie as a hologram💛
Sounds emotional
No she didn't,she say's that she Will not sing(performed)without Freddie, because nobody could replace Freddie
Here I thought I disliked opera but I have goosebumps everytime I hear it. But these two changed my mind
I can see why
This is eternal!
Freddie was a big opera devotee and he wrote Bohemian Rhapsody as ‘opera inspired’.
This song opened the Barcelona olympics.
This never fails to give me goosebumps and bring me too tears. Love your reaction!!!
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Towards the end when he grabs her hands she said he was crying because he knew or realize that it was going to be one of his last performances watching that after hearing her interview always brings me to tears he was such a gentle soul, gentle, generous, shy and loving man and it breaks my heart to know how sad he was great reaction I'm so glad you enjoyed it
That’s actually really sad
If you think this was great, watch "The Golden Boy" by the two of them, mixture of Opera & Gospel....absolutely fantastic!!!
Kinda Stunned, I'm glad on this one you didn't pause and break the Flow, I'm right in line with your reaction 😇🙏❤
Thank you!♥️😘♥️
this was the first opera crossover
Pavarotti was critical at the time
but from 92 to 2003 he did charity albums with various singers
Brown was 2002
Thanks Debbie! I will definitely do this for you 🤗
My good man, this is Freedie in his full vocal range.
You are right! I had to risk the copywrite strikes with this one. Didn’t deserve to be paused
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Was a good choice
Bevor Montserrat Caballe sing together with Freddie she say it cant be difficult to sing with a Rocksinger. After she say it Was one of the greatest Emotions ever for her and his voice a surprise
Wow 🥰 loved your reaction please more Freddie Mercury with Montserrat caballe 😍 thanks liked subscribed 😁
Freddie was highly educated in a private school who had a great education and a love of arts. His family moved to the U.K.
How thankful we are to know Freddie who’s so talented and a lot of people don’t know he worked these sons.
If you want to see a tribute go to green day London.
The greenway crowd? It’s on my channel 🙌🏽
Didn’t even notice it. Thanks for pointing that out
Montserrat i miss you my lovely xxx
I love that you tried this very different duet. The wonderful thing I noticed was your shirt! It highlighted this “odd pairing” and it’s mixing 2 styles and respect for 2 musicians of different cultures and different genres
