I've found them wonderfully entertaining (Natsuki brings me to joyful tears!), informative and inspiring. My trip to Japan is only one week away and these videos have made me even more excited, which I really didn't think was possible. Brilliant.

I'm going into my junior year of high school, so of course it's a long ways away, but now it's something to look forward highly to for the next few years, and a great motivator to keep me working hard! I plan on going to an engineering/computer science school there, since they have some of the best in the world. Thanks for not only enlightening me on Japanese culture and everyday life, but also making me laugh with every video.

I took a Japanese language course with other international students through EF's program for 6 weeks, and stayed with a host family. I met some awesome people, and really felt like I had a truly authentic Japanese experience! It was humble, and beautiful. My host mom would make me a tasty tamago sando on weekday mornings, and on weekends she'd prepare traditional Japanese breakfast - rice, seared fish, umeboshi, & miso soup. On week days I would head out of our tiny house at 8am and walk to the train station with all the commuters, and hop on the 45 minute train ride into the bustling center of Tokyo. I'd get off on Shibuya station every day, because my language classes were in Shibuya just a couple blocks away from the scramble crossing. So it was really fun actually walking through the scramble crossing every morning to get to class! By commuting every day for a long period of time, I was able to relax in the morning, enjoy the beautiful suburbs turn into the bustling tokyo lightscape as the train whizzed by. On top of that, the commute made me really feel like I could live there! I honestly enjoyed every second of it. Don't even get me started on the food. The Japanese convenience stores are honestly the most miraculous things in the world. They're just heavenly. And that's just the cheap stuff. If you can explore around any city in Japan, and follow locals you can find some great restaurants that are very affordable. For instance, when I visited Kyoto with some friends, we were getting pretty desperate and hungry. Sure, there was good food around, but we'd eaten plenty of ramen and the usual food you'll find on travel guides and main streets. So we just decided to look around until we found a place where only locals were eating. Eventually, we stumbled upon smaller road, where a few elderly people were walking towards a building away from the main street attractions. We decided to follow them, and entered an awesome restaurant filled with only older locals! We got a delicious meal for around 800 yen that had udon soup, sashimi, tempura, 3 kinds of pickled vegetables, and a bowl of rice. Plenty to fill me up, and I've got a monster appetite! And all really high quality too! What I love most about Japan isn't the temples, the Shibuya Crossing, or Mount Fuji or anything like that. What I love is the little things. Hi Chris, I really enjoyed this video. You and Ryotaro looked like you guys had a blast. I would like to try Paragliding except I have a crippling fear of heights. Snaggletooth 75 Oh man, i hope you are dealing okay with your pain. Lucky Chris keeps putting out quality content for all of us :^) Wishing you the best, dude
In my city in Germany, in the more rural areas we also have those shops where you can just take the produce (mostly vegetables) and put the money in a box and it seems to work pretty well. Especially in october they sella lot of pumpkins. :)
I'm doing a ton of research before going to Tokyo and after watching a BUNCH of videos of these Tokyo vloggers, with their happy music and super enthused, over-the-top personalities, this channel is really refreshing. It has a Bourdain-vibe to the Zimmern vibes from the other channels. Glad to have seen this, and I hope to awkwardly meet you by chance at Shibuya Crossing.
Plot twist: The dinner Ryoturo made was an assassination attempt. He's trying to make Chris have a heart attack. That's why he kept asking for his weight. Ryoturo was trying to decide how much food he needed to kill Chris.
Hi, I wanted to thank you for the great videos. I've started learning Japanese a few weeks ago and I am overwhelmed what Japan has to offer regarding all that cultural stuff. I am really enjoying watching your videos. ;)
6:18 "It takes a degree of trust to be able to do this." I've thought about this. Trust has to be earned. It's not a one way street (though, that's how it often times begins). I may be romanticizing it a bit too much, but that's one of the many things that I love about Japan. The respect they have for other people. If I remember correctly, some japanese even leave their cars unlocked at the gas station, or their bikes unlocked for a quick jump in the grocery store. Meanwhile, I have to carry my bike up to my appartment, because I already had two bikes stolen from me - first time with an average lock, the second time with quite the expensive lock on it. To be fair, at least they left me the expensive lock lol Anyways, it's those little things I really enjoy in Chris' videos. The scenery & activities are always great, but these little things... they make it just special. Well, this and Chris (& co) of course.
I'd add that these unattended farm shops exist in the countryside in the UK as well - I've come across them in Wales, for example. Completely unattended, you just turn up, pick whatever you want, write down in the ledge what you took and put the money into a box (often left unlocked so you could take change). Those shops remain completely unmolested from what I've seen.
Diversity and multiculturalism drive down trust and a sense of community. British is a minority in London already. But only thing that matters to the liberal governments is profit.
Veggie stands are also pretty common in rural parts of the US. I grew up in Wisconsin, near the Great Lakes region, and spent summers driving around with my dad going to thrift stores and yard sales. And on some small highways near farms an hour or two away from any big cities you could usually find a farm stand like that. We'd usually stop, get some snacking veggies or fruits, and eat them while we drove. They'd have the same trust box for the cash and veggies picked that morning out for sale. They usually weren't so nicely wrapped though.
So I came across your channel like a few with the missile warning waking you up. And while commuting to work I’ve really grown to enjoy your channel. Same type of humour, same age and all round good bloke. (The editing is great sometimes I feel I’m watching a programme on tv) Keep going! 👍👍👍
You went for a high five and Ryotaro smacked you in the stomach. He truly respects and understands British culture. Yes! British sausages are the best; Lincolnshire,Cumberland or be it your standard supermarket pork sausages these are all great choices.
This video is amazing. The thumbnail / title combo put me off for a long time but I'm so glad I watched it now. The pace is RIGHT, the sense of humour is 💯 (and the music enhances it), and Ryotaro's UMA t-shirt puts the icing on the cake. Chris could've appreciated the sausages more, though. 🙊
The more Ryoturo is featured on this channel the more I would love to actually go do things with him. As he is portrayed, it seems he has a sense of adventure that I sadly dont get much of in the states.
Moth Turtle yup, I've seen loads in Lincolnshire! I've bought quite a bit from a much smaller one down the road from me in my small town (BTW if anyone was wondering what a zucchini is, it's a courgette in UK).
I don't know about the UK, but here in the Netherlands you see a lot of "do it yourself" vegetable stalls around the countryside aswell, though they do sometimes get vandalized by edgy teenagers. I think it's a pretty common farmer thing to do around the world.
Maarten van Rossem Lezingen I’m late, but it’s the same thing in Canada. There are booths all over where you can just drop money into a jar and buy vegetables, jam, etc. I’m sure they get stolen from sometimes, but I can’t imagine who would do that.
I saw one of those in a village near Zurich, Switzerland. Russian origin myself, I was very amazed by the amount of trust people have in each other in developed countries.
In the UK you do get some stalls occasionally in the countryside, but it's really uncommon, there's no trust in anyone.. (I know this as I lived in a rather rural area) Sometimes there were little stands selling eggs or something like that, but that was it. Its rather hard to get local vegetables actually, because even farmers markets often use vegetables imported from elsewhere, and the stalls aren't run my farmers themselves often

Hi Chris, I really enjoyed this video. You and Ryotaro looked like you guys had a blast. I would like to try Paragliding except I have a crippling fear of heights. I wish I could visit Japan and meet you Chris, Ryotaro & Natsuki. If I could meet you, Ryotaro and Natsuki I would meet you guys at a bar and buy you guys a beer.
I've been a subscriber to your RUclips channel for about a year now. I really enjoy watching your videos. I have 2 chronic lower back pain conditions, Lumbar Spinal Stenosis and Degenerative Disc Disease and Osteoarthritis in both of my knees and in my hips. I can't sleep most nights because of my chronic pain so I binge watch your videos. Binge watching your videos helps me get through the sleepless nights and helps me forget about my pain. Thank you for making your videos, You fucking rock dude!!
Crazy Canuck get some medical marojuana
Snaggletooth 75 Oh man, i hope you are dealing okay with your pain. Lucky Chris keeps putting out quality content for all of us :^)
Wishing you the best, dude
I'm sorry to hear that. I heard applying heat and cold helps.
"Chris and the sausages" is my favourite yaoi.
You two are good together! Great sense of humour both of you! I hope to see more of you two!
This is like a reverse click bait lol, the rest of the video was more interesting and fun than the title and the thumbnail😭😭
I like to call that ideal clickbait.
In my city in Germany, in the more rural areas we also have those shops where you can just take the produce (mostly vegetables) and put the money in a box and it seems to work pretty well. Especially in october they sella lot of pumpkins. :)
quarkbaellchen95 same in Canada!
I am gonna visit Germany just to validate that
We do in the U.K too, in some places it’s a way of using traditional unused telephone boxes 😁🌹✌🏻✌🏻🇬🇧
honesty box stalls - quite common in NZ too
Same in small, rural towns in the US. :-D
Will someone get this man his second coffee!
Mate u got half million subs
I'm 1/20th of Jake Paul!

You're 1/20th of cancer?sucks bro
Sooner or later, it'll double or triple because deserve it. :)
Tohoku is my city!
Honestly Ryotaro is the Japanese James Bond, i'm sure of it
I'm doing a ton of research before going to Tokyo and after watching a BUNCH of videos of these Tokyo vloggers, with their happy music and super enthused, over-the-top personalities, this channel is really refreshing.
It has a Bourdain-vibe to the Zimmern vibes from the other channels. Glad to have seen this, and I hope to awkwardly meet you by chance at Shibuya Crossing.
Did you guys notice Ryotaros shirt? UMA! I can't stop laughing
pot8oman fjcfhg whats funny is that UMA means horse
was searching for this comment ! thank you !
Ethan Dienert that's the joke ...
Heh...Uma Thurman
I was thinking of Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Hayato Gokudera is obsessed with UMA (unidentified mysterious animals).
The owner of the vegetable stand was actually using his zucchini camouflage and he was watching you the whole time
I found the perfect name for Ryotaro;Ryotaro the failed assassin.
I can safely say this is the most binge-worthy channel on RUclips.
Chris, "I..uuuh dunno..." Ryotoro pushing him on the zipline: "Shut up and die"
A japanese bloke with a demi-british accent promoting german sausages ? - The joke of the century.
Plot twist: The dinner Ryoturo made was an assassination attempt. He's trying to make Chris have a heart attack. That's why he kept asking for his weight. Ryoturo was trying to decide how much food he needed to kill Chris.
This guys bromance is exactly the kind of thing everyone should have. Your best friend should always be trying to do something that kills you. Always.
Hey Chris, this is actually my favorite video of you so far! Two men in Japan doing sports and being brotherly nice to each other what a blast :D
4 years ago today. Still one of your more delightful videos. It's been a great ride so far.
Hi, I wanted to thank you for the great videos. I've started learning Japanese a few weeks ago and I am overwhelmed what Japan has to offer regarding all that cultural stuff. I am really enjoying watching your videos. ;)
Does anyone else wait to see whatever random introduction comes under Ryotaros name 😂 always my favorite part
**Chris is potential injured or killed**
**Ryotaro's Mutley laugh ensues**
+ZenkaiSlip it's the most Mutley laugh ever
The editing and production of this video was amazing
Your friend is amazing. It was a pleasure to watch what fun you had together during this trip. I would like to watch more of that.
Just found this channel. I'm now subscribed. Thank you and keep up the quality content!

6:18 "It takes a degree of trust to be able to do this."
I've thought about this.
To be fair, at least they left me the expensive lock lol
Anyways, it's those little things I really enjoy in Chris' videos.
Ryoturo is for real the happiest man in the world he makes my day every time I watch one of these
9:04 ryotaro is really planning to kill chris after all
Just realised the cleverness of Ryotaro's shirt.
Ryotaro is such a good friend. It makes me happy.
Ryotaro is so cool! I love when you guys travel together :)
So I came across your channel like a few with the missile warning waking you up.
And while commuting to work I’ve really grown to enjoy your channel. Same type of humour, same age and all round good bloke.
(The editing is great sometimes I feel I’m watching a programme on tv)
Keep going! 👍👍👍
Love watching you. Your charm and humor make it a good channel.
You went for a high five and Ryotaro smacked you in the stomach.
He truly respects and understands British culture.
Yes! British sausages are the best; Lincolnshire,Cumberland or be it your standard supermarket pork sausages these are all great choices.
This episode should be called "Ryotaro tries to kill me in many ways"
Rotaro's shirt is the best pun and I'm proud I get it.
Ryoturo seems like truly an awesome person to travel with, a lovely bike and breakfast and ADVENTURE. So awesome!!
The more Ryoturo is featured on this channel the more I would love to actually go do things with him. As he is portrayed, it seems he has a sense of adventure that I sadly dont get much of in the states.
Where I live in the UK (Yorkshire dales) there are some honesty boxes
Lots of rural areas in the UK do this. I haven't seen one with such a large variety as the one in this video though.
Moth Turtle yup, I've seen loads in Lincolnshire! I've bought quite a bit from a much smaller one down the road from me in my small town (BTW if anyone was wondering what a zucchini is, it's a courgette in UK).
This happens in the South of the United States as well.
definitely doesn't happen in multiethnic areas
They have them here in PA as well. It is most likely a rural thing as opposed to a country thing.
I needed this after having such a bad day
Absolutely loved watching this and most likely will come back. Thankyou Chris for such great content
When he said "you sound like you're smart but you're not" and saw your facial expression, I really felt that.
There's one right down the road from me in the U.S. I agree, they're probably common all over the world, just not in most cities.
I saw one of those in a village near Zurich, Switzerland. Russian origin myself, I was very amazed by the amount of trust people have in each other in developed countries.
Probably a bit late but you do occasionally get places like this in the uk it just tends to be in more rural places
I love how Ryotaro's accent gets more and more British throughout the day
The scene with the farm was very heart warming. Also 8:40, Ryotaro saying that made me spit my water, wtf hahaha!
Ryotaro is one of the most awesome human beings I've never met.
👏🏼👏🏼
Wonderful video!
I love this video. He looks so genuinely happy and smiling and I think he really enjoyed this. 😁
