This was the first live stream I’ve ever done in public and it was insanely intense but a lot of fun. It was also quite literally "Abroad in Japan on Ice". I definitely plan on doing more in the future - I noticed some commenters felt i was rude towards the awesome viewers we bumped into on our journey through Sapporo and it’s got me feeling sad if that’s how it came off. For some context, I was struggling to strike a balance between hosting and interacting with the 2,000 viewers watching live and chatting with people in real life as it requires so much concentration to pull it off. It’s pretty nerve-racking - especially in the freezing cold and whilst walking on ice. During my 3 days in Sapporo I spoke to well over 100 viewers, and I loved every minute of it, hearing their stories and chatting about their travels. I may play a bitter sarcastic persona on camera but off camera I’m just a normal guy and I always chat with every amazing viewer I’m lucky to bump into. It’s one of the best things about making videos on RUclips.
You handled it in quite a normal and respectful way. I hope you know that you did fine Chris. I am sad those comments upset you. You engaged a perfect amount. And I am saying that looking at it objectively. As I get more into the film industry, you start to see things from both the perspective of a fan and as the "celeb". And walking that line, you handled things perfectly. ❤ sending mental hugs. Was neat to see the snow festival. Seems the appeal is the snow sculptures, drinks, food, and walking around enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and the cold. Might check out the snow festival myself sometime.
Actually your genuine concern for the negative comments shows the people who couldn't join that you're really reacting to feedback but in this special case I would say that you can't please everyone! And there is a lot of positive feedback as well... Therefore another try would be reasonable not only for the sake of improving but also for you to see if you can take it or rather if you're even keen of it despite the negativity from certain viewers... For the sake of diversity I would strongly appreciate this new form of video material on your channel! But at the same time I'd also like to see the abroadinjapan like vids where you do all your explaining and editing. Hope I can help you with this kinda feedback :)
Don't worry Chris, I got the impression that you were very friendly and you talked to several viewers while juggling a live show! Probably just a loud minority that was complaining. Love your videos, you are the best!
What an absolute legend - I’d liked to have chatted with him more but it was an awkward situation where I didn’t just want to ignore the live stream (especially given it was my first one). It’s quite intense doing a live stream and it requires a heck of a lot of concentration - well at least for me.
Plot twist, the title was actually "Chris forces his cohorts and viewers buy him drinks so that he may fund his illicit activities to become the drink kingpin"
@@grubbybum3614 Read the situation. He's already been recognized a bunch and he's tipsy doing a live stream, you don't know what you'd do in his position. Can't believe I watched this whole thing, he's surprisingly entertaining. Glad it didn't get bogged down by 100% viewer interaction, it was a good balance of content. With twitch streamers a lot of the time they either ignore everyone, or spend too much time on them and it gets boring.
O wow! One of my favourite places made in snow! Beautiful! =) Greetings from Warsaw, Poland, 15 minutes from the Lazienki Palace and the Chopin monument you captured there.
Watching this in April of 2022 and him answering the question about Covid… Man, those were different times. Had to cancel a trip to Japan and two reschedules for it and as of right now, still not open. 😔 Either way, we need more live streams of Chris being out and about, I loved this and brought me life
We have an amazing Ramen ya from Sapporo in Germany (Düsseldorf). It is called Takumi and I tried all base soups and I loved the Sapporo Miso the very most. Amazing place
Umaimon and Takezo are definitely superior to Takumi. I am still not quite sure as to why Takumi is the most popular near the main station. To be fair, I dont particularly enjoy Miso Ramen, so that might lower the value of going to Takumi. But still, try the kara shoyu ramen from Takezo. Definitely worth a try and only 200m down the street ;)
Chocolate banana is amazing. Where I live is pretty traditional in markets during summer ( I live in Chile) we also have chocolate strawberry, pineapple and apple. Sapporo Festival looks amazing. I loved your live stream :D
Hi Jackie, Natsuki, Peter, Sharla and Chris. Hope you enjoyed your refresh, cool like Elvis ice festival. Looks amazing. Wish we had snow like that sometimes but then I was told about chilblains. Hope youre looking after yourselves.
First live stream and you serve it up on ice. You sure know how to add layers of complexity to life. Lovely as it gives you more opportunities to punctuate the feed with your intermittent curses. Love that. Great fun.
I have been to the festival today (9th Feb) - gutted you were not here too! Let Pete know I would have gifted him a hamper of coolish! Sapporo is great but having travelled from 35c Malaysia, it was quite a shock to he system. Great vid!
This livestream was awesome! I would love so see more like this. As someone who wants very badly to travel to Japan and likely never will this was like getting a taste of what it’s really like to be there! Well done!
Watching this in Singapore at 12.15am drinking tiger beer after a mid 30c day with high UV and a week before I go back to the UK great job guys... I have some friends in Osaka and Sendai love Japan.
I can't believe you were there! I visited the festival this year myself. It's amazing to think I was in the same place as you! I wish I could've met you and said hi. I hope you all had fun at the festival!
holy crap, this is for real recreation of Warsaw Łazienki Palace. And also there was a Chopin Statue replica from ice. Japanese army is amazing! Frick me. Yeah, i`m from Poland
Was there same time as y’all but had such a bad head cold I had a hard time doing the festival. Got to get back to it sometime maybe in 2023 and also get the ice/snow shoe things from Donki I can attach to my shoes. Learned my lesson. 🤣
I was scheduled to fly to Sapporo this Friday, but unfortunately had to change my plans. It would have been my third visit to the Yuki Matsuri, it's always amazing. Make sure to also check out the Susukino area with the ice sculptures, and the Tsudome area for some good old fashioned snow fun! And for something different, consider also visiting nearby Otaru for the Yuki Ikari no Michi. And while you're on the train, you might as well visit Yoichi for the Nikka Whiskey Distillery (free tasting!). Hokkaido in winter is amazing!

Chris, Pete and Natsuki. What a great combo. Would love to see more Livestreams in the Future
Also Chiaki

It’s definitely on the cards
I never knew how entertaining it can be to simply watch Chris roam around a snow festival while asking for beer every 2 min lol
"Too much cold." Pretty well sums up winter. I whole heartily concur.
This was such a great video that I've watched twice so far. It was great to see almost all of the entire Abroad in Japan crew all in one place.
This put me in such a good mood after a long day at work, thank you
I thought Walter was dead..
This just makes me even more excited for when i'll be in Sapporo in 2 days!
Think we have all missed an important question. Where did Pete suddenly get a scarf from?🤔🤔
Pete in a Natsuki voice: "YeaH! Poccket TIME...!"

15 minutes in and Chris has demanded people buy him stuff a few times already 😅
