Yes! Google assistant is the best in the game right now. It finals and responds the fastest. Bixby is frustrating to use in the phone, it's even worse on this watch.
The Galaxy watch Quick Start Guide includes a disclaimer about Bixby being limited when the watch is first introduced. Hopefully it will be improved in the future. I think your complaint about the screen resolution is not justified. I've never seen any other complaints about that. I own a Gear S3 and Galaxy watch, and am very happy with the screen quality & resolution.
Yes, I agree that Bixby is limited. It's just frustrating to have it as your only option as a voice assistant. Siri works well on the Apple Watch. I wish we had that counterpart. As for the resolution, Samsung is the pioneer of display technology. I just want to see the resolution bumped up a bit. They've spoiled us with excellent smartphone displays.
Watching this in December 2019, after more than a year from its release. I fell into the Black Friday trap and bought one, thinking it should have improved in all this time. I just couldn't stand bixby, worse than on my phone, and the app selection was trash. Researched the waterproofing, if it fails, warranty is void, and they want you to go swimming with it (samsung health swim tracking). I returned it after a week.
What do you need higher ppi for you dont hold it it close too your face like a phone nor do you read a book on it no you just glance over it too see your time notifications ext.
Honesty, it's a great watch. I only had 3 complaints about it. For me, screen resolution is still important even on a tiny watch face. Its all about making this look a realistic watch. And to simulate realism, the pixels density should be high enough to where I cannot see them. Again, this is just my preference.
Are you ready to pay for the higher resolution by the battery life time? I'm not. I prefer to keep current resolution, but increase battery life. And another thing is the compatibility with huge amount of watch faces in the Galaxy Apps Store -- different resolution will kill the back compatibility.
It's a double edge sword I'm aware of. Sacrifice battery for resolution. I can manage the battery drain since I charge it every night. I'd be bummed if we couldn't use the thousands of awesome watch faces!
Have heard/seen you can get Google Assist & apps through Samsung's third party app thru your Samsung device, like S9+, begins w/ a "Tisen" as I recall...
5'31 Bixby is not trash, but your connexion. I just try "set timer 5 minutes" 5 times and Bixby on my galaxy watch give me the timer for 5 minutes in ONE second. And i have no issue with bixby. I use it a lot for calling a contact.
For me, and my watch, it responds very quick, so there is 2 options : your watch got a problem or your connexion. I did just try it again to see and the answer is always fast. I tested with "weather today" and got the answer immediately after my request.
He's 100 percent correct, Bixby is a complete joke,in the phone too. Why can't I just set it to use Google assistant?? Stop samsung, either spend the $$ to make Bixby work correctly, or let us use Google. Stop forcing us to use your crap sw
I still have the Note 4 which was released back in 2014 and its exactly the same resolution as the Note 9 released this year. In fact, the pixel density on the Note 4 is higher than the Note 9.
Hi! I bought the watch about a week ago. I'm still discovering the features on it. I have the same thoughts about the Google apps missing on the watch like music and maps. My girlfriend is an apple girl and she owns an apple watch. I hate that mi Samsung doesn't have a camera controller. She can see on her watch the phone camera. To me, that's a great feature that also is missing on the galaxy watch. If you know about any good app for the galaxy with that feature, please let me know! Thank you and I love your vids!
Hello TechJungle I have the 42mm rose gold one withe the LTE AND BLUETOOTH VERSION. I thought about sending it back now I turned off the LTE VERSION I think it lasted longer and I also turned off a lot of functions to make it last so if you can tell me what to exactly what to leave on and what to leave off I'll try it.
How much do you use it watch without the phone? If you always have both together then I suggest going with the bluetooth only version instead. The 42mm had pretty good battery life if you charge it every night.
As for the Google Apps -- you have to complain to Google, not to Samsung. Tizen OS is open for everyone to write awesome apps, but Google does not want to support the Wear OS competitor. I wish to have Viber and Telegram messengers on my Galaxy Watch and a lot of other apps, but let's be honest -- that's not a Samsung's issue.
I understand. I'd wish Google supported this watch because it's the closest competition to the Apple Watch. I guess my major complaint was the lack of 3rd party support. Thanks for the comment!
It's a very nice looking watch, but the software is just junk. Bixby is a joke, there are very few apps for the watch and the fitness tracking is very basic. You can not even set high heart rate alert on this watch. Functionality wise, it is not even close to the Apple watch. It is not a replacement for dedicated fitness trackers like Garmin either.
It really is a great looking watch. It's the way I'd prefer a watch to look with it's rounded display. When you have it for a while, you start to notice it's deficiencies. I want a sharper display and Google support. The health portion is pretty decent for my usage, but Apple is definitely leading in this category.
I agree about the resolution, my galaxy s8 is much sharper, I wish the watch had the same pixel density display as the s8. But the software makes things even worse - the heart rate for instance is displayed in such a small font that it I can't read it while cycling. There is no settings for high rate alert, which is a basic feature in every fitness tracker. There is no detection for irregular heart rate as in the Apple watch. It is a shame because all the hardware is there, but the software is very limited in functionality and the UI is poorly designed.

This is the 42mm. I returned the 46mm because I wanted the blacked out version. I charge it every night because it's a habit. I still think Bixby needs work. Google Assistant is much better imo.

44mm Series 4: 448 x 368 pixels (326 ppi density) 46mm Galaxy Watch: 360 x 360 pixels, 1:1 ratio (278 ppi density) It's a noticeable difference. Don't believe me? Wait next week and compare the two in store. Samsung is the display technology leader. They need sharper dislpays then everyone on all their products period.
@@TechJungle All things aside, I do agree with you that being Samsung they should have definitely bumped up the specs. Ultimately I think they chose for the longer battery life vs. sharper screen. 44mm Series 4: 448 x 368 pixels (326 ppi density)
46mm Galaxy Watch: 360 x 360 pixels, 1:1 ratio (278 ppi density)
It's a noticeable difference.
If I remember correctly the battery was one of the biggest complaints for the Gear S3. Shame cause they are, like you said, the industry leaders for crisp screens on their devices, and they could do a bit better.
And I'm actually impressed with the batter life on both sizes too. The 42mm lasts me all day with about 40% to spare. Hopefully we'll get the best of both worlds on the next version. Thanks for the comment!
Im taking this watch back b/c Playstation app. Isn't on it.
Somebody plz. get this guy the entire Alien wear dest top set so he can wear it around his wrist and be happy, this guy is comparing pixle density on a watch to a phone. Worst review I have seen.
😂😂😂 This really isn't my full review. Come on back and check out the real review. I think it's a great watch by the way.
Then don't get the damm watch!!
This watch is a disgrace. It cannot accurately count steps or calculate calories burned or HR-esp while working out
Have you tried any other fitness trackers out there that you do like? Just curious.
Tech Jungle yes, the Apple Watch. At least it works 100%. Please test the step counter
This talk and stop is quite annoying. 9 minutes wasted.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll work on it, just getting started. Come back a few vids later and give me an updated critique. 😎
