Jennifer Maker, we are so BLESSED to have you share your videos for free. I just wanted you to know I am a newbie and I've followed you for some time now. Just wanted you to know that we hold you dear to our hearts. Thank you for sharing all your materials, videos and wisdom. Some of us only have YOU 💗.....
You are so welcome! But, you need to get that Maker out of its box and start creating with it! Here is a series that you can follow along with me, from taking it out of the box to learning how to get patterns to seeing some projects! Then, please think about visiting our Facebook group! You will find more creative sisters (and brothers!) there who share your interest and can help you create projects beyond your wildest dreams! You CAN do this! 😍 jennifermaker.lpages.co/love-your-cricut-mini-course/ facebook.com/groups/cricutcraftersandmakers/
I so need to come live with you for a while, my sweet friend. My husband bought me a brand spanking new Cricut Maker and I am so afraid to use it because I have no clue how to. I just want to thank you for doing what you do for others to learn.
Thank you for the great gift idea. I plan to make casserole carriers for my friends and family that love to bake. Now I can make them even more personal by adding a personalized dish as well. I have etched Heineken Beer bottles for my son when he asked his brothers and friends to be his Groomsmen. For those I added Rub n Buff in black and that made the etching stand out so much more. I think I will try that for these so the words "Pop!" I Love Etching! Appreciate You!
OMG everytime i see one of your videos i get all excited. I bought my cricut maker over a month ago and havent unboxed it yet. Unfortunately i'm recovering from a double mastectomy and i actually bought this so that when i'm stronger but cant work due to treatments, i can keep myself busy doing projects, plus it mental therapy for me. I cant wait to try this! Thank you so much for your videos
Hi Jennifer. I really enjoy your videos. You're a pleasure to watch. I just wanted to add that when rinsing the Armour Etch DON"T splash any on you faucet fixtures. I did and by time I could rinse it off (yes, just that quick) it took a bit of the finish off. Luckily it was just a tiny spot but it's noticeable. Now I rinse in the basement utility sink. Lesson learned.
Congratulations on your new Maker, Linda! We also have a new free series of online classes that show you how to set up your machine as a new Cricut owner! Here's the link to sign up: makeracademy.com/cricutkickoff
I made this today and I don't think I put enough of the cream on - which is fine. First of any craft is for me to learn and then the second will be for someone else. :) Jennifer - I love your videos - you are the best instructor ever!!
I did my first attempt at etching, I loved it. It’s a ribbon for EDS, a genetic disease. I learned so much from your video, and you gave me the info and confidence to try this! Thank you.
I hesitated etching on Pyrex because of that issue. Had no clue it was from so long ago. Will definitely be doing it now that I know that one material isn't used in making the Pyrex. Thanks Jennifer! Hugs, Brenda
To what temperature can you use to cook in the etched casserole dish and the design stays on? Also, can you put them in a dishwasher? Thank you and love your instructions!
Just wanted to thank you for this video. I was unsure if I had a Pyrex set that was etchable, because I heard rumors that some were not. After your tips, I was happy to realize that my dishes were etchable. They etched really well using your advice, especially because I was trying to figure out how to avoid the "Pyrex" wording on the bottom (mine was right in the middle and unavoidable with my design) - you were right! - my etching went right over it and looks beautiful. Thanks for the reminder to tape off the edges of my vinyl too. Normally, I just try to stay away from the edges, but it was helpful not to have to be too careful when re-brushing the etching cream. I have etched many times before, but usually on non-labeled glass or mirrors.... so I was afraid of damaging quality Pyrex. Thanks again! I was able to successfully etch 3 dishes.
It's like you looked into my soul and just knew...that if the markings on the bottom didn't read in the same direction as the etching, it WOULD drive me crazy!! Great tutorial as always, definitely going to do a few of these as gifts. Thanks so very much for sharing your talent and creativity, and making the Cricut less scary!
I wanted to follow up on this project. I ended up gifting all the girls in the family with an etched casserole dish with their last names. Struggle #1: I'm so glad I did a trial run on one of my dishes first. Struggle 2: make sure when you put the painters tape around to protect the design MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO AIR BUBBLES. Struggle 3: I wanted the last name on the side of the dish pay attention which side you want it on because one side you have to mirror. This was a super fun project and am going to be an etching fool. I have so many ideas for gifts.
I made this today!! I am so pleased with how it came out. I am very new to the Cricut world and was quite intimidated by the whole thing. I had a great time following your excellent instructions. My dish turned out amazing. Thank you so much 🙂
You mentioned not using a foam brush, but I saw someone else using one (dabbing the etching cream on it in an up-and-down motion). I wondered why a regular brush is better. Thanks for the resources!
I prefer a regular brush because it doesn't waste as much etching cream as a foam brush. There are many methods crafters use, this is the method I have found that works the best! 😀

I am totally in love with your channel. I decided I am going to make these as a Mother’s Day gifts. Thank you for such a clear and precise way of teaching plus you are so encouraging to people like me who don’t have too much confidence in my skills.
Love your videos so much. You have really made a huge difference... You explain everything so we'll it eased my doubts about trying new things.... I have done several of your projects... Thanks so much
Well, I finally got my first attempt done. I was excited to start seeing my design appear and did the final wipe off. My design was GONE! I used one of my Pyrex for my first attempt and it must be one of the older ones. But I feel much more confident for my next attempt. All in all, a good run :-)
You got this! If you see a note that your dish is very scratch and impact resistant, or is made to withstand rapid temperature changes, it's possible that it may not be able to etch correctly. If in doubt, take a toothpick and put a dot of etching cream on the dish to test it out to see if it will etch or not! 😍
Yes, absolutely you could try to etch colored glass, it just depends on if the glass is actually "blue" or if it's a coating. You can always do a test patch or heart and test it out!
You're so full of the best ideas! I've thought of etching glasses, for sure, but this is next level awesome! Perfect gift for weddings, house warmings, graduations, anything! 😍 So happy you're back and coming in with a bang!
Is there a way to do this using something handwritten instead of a machine generated font? Like copying something in handwriting & loading the copy into the cricut? Loved your video. Very easy method & you explained & demonstrated it really nice.

I am brand new to cricut explore air 2 and I’ve been watching your videos, you are so awesome. I truly appreciate you for all your instructions and free patterns. I just love you!
Last I checked, and it has admittedly been a few years, Anchor Hocking still uses borosilicate whereas Pyrex is fully soda lime. I haven't done any etching since working in a glass studio where we had a sand blaster, and in college classes before that. I can recall doing etched glasses with armour etch as a kid, carefully hand cutting monograms. Soooooo exhausting! Looking forward to playing with this option! I will say that going heavy and letting it sit, which is what the manufacturer has always recommended, without moving it around constantly always gave me a good result, but to each their own.🤷♀️
As a newbie Cricut Maker owner I am a recent subscriber to your channel and am watching EVERYTHING Cricut you’ve ever done. I am really keen to try etching a casserole dish for my friend’s birthday and have been looking around for Armour Etch cream in the UK. I’ve found it available for sale on several websites but they all state, very firmly, that it won’t etch Pyrex dishes but you are clearly doing it - and beautifully! Do we have different Pyrex on sale here in the UK? I would be so grateful for your advice as I don’t want to waste money on the materials or be disheartened when I don’t get the fabulous results that you do. Thank you so much for all that you do to inspire and educate.
So ... I went on the hunt for pyrex similar to that which you used in your video and learned that the PYREX we have in Europe is still made of borosilicate glass and can be identified by the different logo (US pyrex, Europe PYREX). Really disappointed as I would have loved to make etched casserole dishes like yours ... I will, however, use your technique to etch other glassware for gifts. Hope this will help some of your other non-US fans. Keep your fabulous lessons coming 😘
Thank you so much for putting so much detail in your videos. I am new to the design studio I am use to working with cartridge. But my husband recently up graded me to the Air 2. I need a tutorial on how to use the design studio.
Hi Nora! Congrats on your new Cricut machine! I have a helpful video that talks all about Cricut Design Space for desktop which you can find here - ruclips.net/video/olu2dI1hSVE/видео.html :)

QUESTION.....I have been wanting to watch this video. I'm so glad I found this Thank you Jennifer! Today in the MerryMaker Mingle you used painters tape in place of transfer tape, Can the painters tape method work for glass etching too???
Thank you for putting the "oomph" in me to actually try this! I do have a random question. I see your protective eyewear and need to purchase them. I want to get a pair that is usable for etching and resin pouring. Does the pair you show in your tutorial do both and where may I purchase? Thank you Jennifer!
Hi I have tried this on Uk Pyrex with no success and have been informed that it won't work on Pyrex sold in the UK so a lesson learnt for me which is such a shame as I was so looking forward to doing these as gifts
Sorry to hear that! Please note: Dishes made of Borosilicate WILL NOT WORK. Dishes from Ikea and some other brands of dishes may be made of borosilicate glass, therefore, they will not work. Borosilicate glass is a tougher type of glass. If you see a note that your dish is very scratch and impact resistant to withstand rapid temperature changes, it’s possible it may not work to etch correctly. Please check the etching cream manufacturer’s website for more information. jennifermaker.com/etched-casserole-dish/
Welcome back Jennifer. I purchased a Cricut bundle with my Maker and it included stencil vinyl and I wanted to know if I can use this instead of the permanent vinyl to create my stencil? Thank you so much for this awesome video which I will use over and over and over.
There are products that you can apply to color the etched design, one being a product called Rub 'n Buff, however it is not permanent so it would need to be re-applied after time. I prefer to leave the etched glass alone so the pans can be easily washed in the dishwasher. :-)
Hi!!! I’m just find your page and I love it, I’m not really a crafty person, but I love crafts and I want to learn. So I’m happy to find this for my begging in this craft world. My question about this amazon project is, if we can add some color to the etch cream? Blessings!!
Hi There! Thanks for being here! You can't add color to the etching cream, you can apply color afterward. There are a few products that do this, one is called Rub n' Buff, however, I prefer to leave it translucent because it's permanent this way, it can be thrown in the dishwasher, etc. Rub n' Buff will eventually wear away and need to be re-applied. So just a few things to keep in mind.
Perfect!!!! Thanks so much for your response and for the tips 😉, and translucent looks elegant. Also I get my cricut maker recently, so I’m ready, step by step I’m im going to make beautiful projects. Blessings!! ❤️
i just found this video & would like to know how you did the blue background on the bottom of the dishes you had in the video so you can see the wording a lot better
It's not actually a color, Crystal, what the cream does is remove the top layer of glass to make it look like it does! So, it only comes in the one color! 😉🥰
@@JenniferMaker Okay, say I want a gold look. I would need to purchase what ever glass color such as gold to get the color look with the same effect. 🤔😆
Loved this video! I cannot wait to try this! I have only had my Maker a week and unfortunately it’s not cutting so waiting for a new blade and housing (after 3 hours waiting for customer service) haha. Ill keep watching your videos while I wait!

Hi! I absolutely love this tutorial. Are you still able to put this Pyrex in the oven?
Yes you can!💗
I've heard people comment that the new Pyrex dishes are shattering in the oven. Any info or recommendations on that?
Thanks for demonstrating what it looks like to etch over the raised letters on the back of the dish! It looks great!

Congrats on your new Maker!! I have LOTS of helpful resources over on my blog- jennifermaker.com as well as a free resource library where you can get all my SVG files for free! 😊
I was so excited to see your video pop up!!!! I know how to do this and watched anyway because I missed you! I hope this means your doing better 💜💚😎
I am feeling better Dawn! Thank you for watching and checking up on me, I truly appreciate it!

I'm very interested in etching. Why did you choose permanent vinyl over the stencil vinyl or craft plastic? Thank you so much!
Permanent vinyl has a stronger adhevise to avoid bleeding.
This is great! I have a wedding coming up and this will be perfect. I think I will also make your porch welcome sign for them as well.
That's an excellent combination for a wedding gift! Love it!
QUESTION.....I have been wanting to watch this video. I'm so glad I found this Thank you Jennifer!
Today in the MerryMaker Mingle you used painters tape in place of transfer tape, Can the painters tape method work for glass etching too???
You can always try using painters tape instead of transfer tape. Sometimes it may not be sticky enough though. 💕
@@JenniferMaker Thank you
I like your demo. Is it possible to wash your dish in the dishwasher after etching?
Yes you can but hand washing is preferred.
Thank you for explaining about older pyrex!!! I can't wait to do this!
Hope you like it!
My sister-in-law makes casseroles for her church events. I’m going to personalize a few. ❤️
That would be a perfect gift for her, Misty! She will be getting all her dishes back from now on! :)
Am sooo glad to see this tutorial. I think these are fabulous and would make great gifts...even to myself!
Nancy, we all deserve to gift ourselves every now and again!
@@JenniferMaker Amen sister!
I love this... going to make a few for Christmas Gifts.... Thank you so much.
You are so welcome! 💜
Good to see you back!
It's GOOD to be back!! Thank you!!
Wow! I did not know that you could also etch with a Cricut! Makes me want one even more!
There are SO many things you can do with a Cricut!
This was awesome. You made it look so easy. I will be trying this today. Thank you for doing this video for us.
You are so welcome!
Great timing and so glad you're healthy again! I was just trying to think of a housewarming gift for my niece and this is going to be it!!
Thank you, Jodi! It is so awesome to feel good again! Your niece will treasure your gift, I am sure! :)
Great video thanks for explaining step by step clearly.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for putting the "oomph" in me to actually try this! I do have a random question. I see your protective eyewear and need to purchase them. I want to get a pair that is usable for etching and resin pouring. Does the pair you show in your tutorial do both and where may I purchase? Thank you Jennifer!
For resin pouring, you want a full face respirator -- see this video: ruclips.net/video/QTAEFJfl1v4/видео.html
Oh wow that is such a great idea. Would make a wonderful hostess gift
Yes, hostesses (and hosts!) would love it! :)
I 💕 this idea. I have an older Cricut that uses cartridges. I’m hoping I can find a design similar to yours in my cartridges.
I'm sure you can! 😀
Have you ever tried to color the etched part? What do you use if you have? Thanks! Love your videos!
I have not tried yet. However, I'm sure there is a way to color the etching maybe with something like Rub 'n Buff. Thank you for watching! :)
Never thought bakeware !! Thank you 😊 I’m excited to do all mine and daughters !
Thank YOU! Would love to see them! Post pictures if you can! :)
Welcome back Jennifer. I purchased a Cricut bundle with my Maker and it included stencil vinyl and I wanted to know if I can use this instead of the permanent vinyl to create my stencil? Thank you so much for this awesome video which I will use over and over and over.
I'm very happy to hear this!
Can you do a video on how to make the recipe cutting boards or plates? It doesn't look like its made with vinyl or etched but maybe printed or burned?
Sure! We have a blog post and video right here, LaChondra! 😍

I loved this video, am new to cricut but you have given me so many ideas. Thank you.
Wonderful, Jackie! Welcome to the world of Cricut! Can't wait to see everything you make!
Perfect timing for a perfect project. Curious if there is a way to etch in color?
Blessings!! ❤️
i just found this video & would like to know how you did the blue background on the bottom of the dishes you had in the video so you can see the wording a lot better
that is just card stock behind it to see it better in the photo. jennifermaker.com/etched-casserole-dish/
Hello Jennifer, Does the etching cream comes in color or only the frost look?
It's not actually a color, Crystal, what the cream does is remove the top layer of glass to make it look like it does! So, it only comes in the one color! 😉🥰
@@JenniferMaker Okay, say I want a gold look. I would need to purchase what ever glass color such as gold to get the color look with the same effect. 🤔😆
Loved this video! I cannot wait to try this! I have only had my Maker a week and unfortunately it’s not cutting so waiting for a new blade and housing (after 3 hours waiting for customer service) haha. Ill keep watching your videos while I wait!
Why, thank you, Cathy! You are welcome to visit our Facebook group, too, at facebook.com/groups/cricutcraftersandmakers/ !😉😍
Jennifer Maker i joined, thanks!
