- Опубликовано: 4 июн 2024
- This is a beginner guide on how to engrave patterns into a glass cup with a Dremel. Engraving glass with a Dremel is very simple and everyone can do it.
In this video, I use a Dremel Stylo+ 2050 to engrave. But you can also use any of the Dremel models that can use the flex shaft. Like the Dremel 4000, Dremel 3000, Dremel 8220, Dremel 8260, Dremel 4300 and so on.
We are going to use circle-shaped diamond bits to do the engravings
I am 100% sure that anyone will be able to do engravings like these. ¨

honest, genuine and a great tutorial. Thanks.
Thank you!! Great tutorial!!!! 😍😍😍😍
Thank you for sharing ❤
Can't wait to try this!
Yeah. It is so simple to engrave with a Dremel. The most exciting thing is the endless amount of patterns you can choose from.
Thank you ,this was easy to follow. I'm just starting out.
Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for posting! I enjoyed seeing how easy this was. Now subscribing and looking forward to making some little gifts for family and friends.
Lovely to hear. These engraving makes for great gifts :) good luck.
Very informative, I learned a lot!
Nice to be able to learn from others mistakes
Yes, I agree with RP, this is a great video. Good job!
Thanks so much :)
Good Work, thank, hello from Colon. Panama.
Thank you. This helped a lot.

Liking this so much better than the average music backed sped up confusion. You got my like, and Im binging on your videos. You may just get a sub, whic isnt something I do lightly.
Thanks. I'm glad you like it, hopefully i will earn your sub :)
Super 👍
Tusen tack :) ❤
Not bad, thanks
Thanks for watching :)
Excellent explanation - I think calling it a "simple rotary guide" would be as applicable because you are clear and straightforward in explaining how to do this. The results are marvellous!
The only point I think that is worth emphasizing more would be the ventilation and protection: inhaling glass or any kind of silica based particulate can have devastatingly bad effects on lungs - pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (aside from being a long word) is, in the literal sense, a disease of the lungs due to microscopic silicone particles that have been formed into amorphic structures.
Do you have specific mask recommendations to combat this? Looking to start something similar but obv keen to avoid any health impacts.
I think a simple mask is sufficient. I'm not a medic, but these medics are always exaggerating with possible dangers. People living in sandy deserts all have silicone particles in the lungs. They don't die from it. We have mucus to capture most of the particles.
Can you go back with like sand paper or something to smooth it out? Or use a different bit to get that smooth factory finish ?
Maybe the sandpaper would work yes. There has to be a way to get those clean lines. But in this case i did not want to do to much because it would close the gaps between the shapes. It is easier with connected shapes. But yeah, i bit more practice in my case would also help I guess :)
Could you do an abstract wood art that goes through the wood clear with Dremel?
Draw it on paper or print it then draw it trough carbon paper to the wood
#RotaryCrafts thanks for the lesson! Please do something with flames and dragons! P.S. you should be wearing nitrile gloves...glass is painful in the skin. Btw...you might want to look into acid wash for glass engraving. You place your template on the outside and paint the acid wash on...then wash it off. You must wear gloves for it.
You need to keep the engraving wet, you can burn the glass with diamond burrs but if you are using cheap glass no problem but please don't do this on crystal you will ruin it. Water keeps the glass cool and damps the glass dust down to slurry easier to wipe away and less to inhale even with a mask on. The other thing I would say is there is not light and dark shading it is just flat I think to improve your skill you need to be looking at shading it opens up a whole new aspect of engraving
Some solid tips there, what bits do you usually use for doing the shading ?
Excellent points. I'd also recommend *not* to use your hand to wipe glass dust, since ground glass is really no fun at all.
Jane, whats your wetting method of choice?
The diamond small bits aren’t making a mark in my glass. What could I be doing wrong? The only marks showing up is when I use the green bit. My dremel is at 35.
@@sunflowergrowing then you are not using diamond, diamond is harder than glass in Mohs scale, it should scratch it. Maybe you are using a wood cutter or you have worn out the diamond coating.
If it is diamond it will scratch even without power
@rotarycrafts8760 the art of shading is not done with a tool, rather its an extended understanding of contrast and how that contrast is created by utilizing space ( both in, and around an image ). Take a look at a portrait, study how artist use shadows and shading to create contrast in the lips, nose and eyes. Sometimes a single line either dark or white can give a lot of depth to an image or drawing
Veldig gode videoer, forresten!!
New dremel
Anyone trying this at home should know that glass dust is not good to breathe in. you need water dripping over the glass as you engrave it to keep it from getting to hot and cracking as well as keeping the dust to a minimum
Yep. Follow this advice! Good advice. :)
I'm surprised you don't use a magnifier on a clamp arm. That is what helps me see small details. There is also a clamp that can hold a dremel, if you want to move objects by hand. But I never tried that.
The magnifier with a clamp seems like a good idea. I will try that sometime.
@@rotarycrafts8760 get one with a light on the magnifier. and maybe a 4-6 arm dock that can hold objects for painting/crafting. those are used for action figures and miniatures. it looks like Doctor Octopus' tentacles with tiny clamps at the ends.
For better results, just put the pattern on top. You could easily cut through paper and it will be more accurate. You just need to start with parts inside so you don't cut whole thing out.
I have not tried that. I just figured the paper would shred fairly quickly. But I will definitely give this method a try :)
@@rotarycrafts8760 For _even better results_ , use this method (link'd vid) to transfer your printed image into the perfect stencil for your future glass engravings! Booyah
ruclips.net/video/6owiLD9I6Wk/видео.html
and to add you can use spray glue or glue stick to attach your stencil to the glass
What about engraving a name?
Good idea. I'll add that to the list of videos to make :)
🥱🥱🙄🙄👎👎
Okay. That was necessary?
this looks rather rough. all the strokes should be in the same direction. north & south, or east & west, or catty corner. takes a lot longer but makes a better finish.
Yeah. I agree. But doing the perfect lines takes a little bit more practice and time. This is from a beginners perspective, just a quick guide to get you started. You can probably achieve better results than you see in the video if you take the time. :)
Hi, have you tried any Proxxon tools ? i have been wanting to start this but can't decide which are better.
Ho. I have not tried proxxon. But I've seen them around, they seem like good rotary tools. But I don't think there are that many attachments for the proxxon tools. ( They can't use the same attachments as the Dremel as far as I can see). But if you are mostly going to rely on bits, proxxon might be just fine.
