Hey Jen, I've been learning/using my cricut for 2+ years now and figuring everything out mostly by trial and error. Have a a couple pretty successful online decal shops and am migrating into glassware. I spent a couple of weeks working on the curved glass applications and sizes for all my logos on different glass pieces. I found your page yesterday while looking for tips n tricks, and honestly I haven't stopped watching lol. I think my cricut knowledge has more than tripled just this week, and that's solely due to you. So, THANK YOU. These videos are all amazing and you legit show anyone willing to put in the effort that its totally doable. Just wanted to say THANKS, and how great your content is. Cheers!
I’ve been a little DIYer (for fun)and Cricut owner for 6 years and I feel the same way! I’ve learned SO MUCH from watching a few of her videos. I love her creativity and how she made it so easy for us to understand. And puts things to the test so we don’t have to lol. THANK YOU JENNIFER
Many thanks Jennifer! I stumbled accross your tutorial and thought I'd give it a try after some failed attempts at etching with this product. No where on the instructions do they say to continuely brush the product on for 3 full minutes. Armour Etch basically instructs you to glob it on and leave it for 1 to 3 minutes which left me with a patchy sloppy mess. Your method left perfect clear crisp writing on my bottles ( I etched 12) and they all came out perfect!! Just a note I used some removable vinyl that I had on hand (didn't like the color) and it worked great.
Hello :) I just wanted to share with you and everyone... Armor Etch is a reusable chemical! Feel free to scrape off used Armor Etch with a small rubber/silicone spatula and put it right back inside the bottle for unlimited continuous use! :)
Well just need to rewatch for a third time. I cannot get the hang of this..All I wanted was the letters for ‘Holly’ wondered if I am doing everything backwards, which is possible..maybe I need a wine in the glass….x
I agree so much! That's why I include them whenever it makes sense. To be fair, though, I don't include them ALL, but it's only because I try super hard to keep my videos easy to follow and not crazy long. Just know that there are some days when I make LOTS of mistakes. But all those mistakes are how we learn. :)
I just watched 3 other "top ranked" videos on this and yours is by faaaar the best. Thank you for taking the time to test things and make mistakes so we don't have to. Looking forward to going through your videos!
I just discovered this. I want you to know how much I appreciate a tutorial where you have chosen your words carefully and avoid repetitive words like "I'm gonna" or "I'm just going to". It may sound silly when reading this but if you watch many of these tutorial videos (even some DIY network shows) certain words that are repeated just grate. You have a good voice as well.
This is the 3rd tutorial I've seen & once again u came through. Before when I used the Armour Etch, I put it on the glass and let it sit for 3-4 minutes. However, by working it with a brush for that time, my etching was more clean and visible. THANK YOU!
I do a lot of Armour Etching and finally bought a Cricut to make my life a little easier. I have viewed numerous Cricut instructional videos and if there is anyone better than you at explaining the how to use the Cricut, I haven't found one. I also like the video on how much Armour Etch to use.
Great video, as usual. Thanks for sharing. I have done several etching projects and have even etched my glass casseroles with no problem. I have etched dollar tree glass cutting boards for gifts that are smooth on the bottom and textured on the front. I agree that simpler designs on curved surfaces makes for easier crafting and better results. I can't imagine why anyone would give you a thumbs down!😐
This video is so timely for me. I was gifted a bottle of Armor Etch and I am so excited to try etching glass. Thanks again, Jennifer!! You are so generous with you knowledge. "Knowledge is power. Knowledge shared is power multiplied." You are empowering so many like-minded people. Love It!
If you rinse with hot water, the vinyl will peel away super easy! Also, make sure not to get ANY etching cream outside your vinyl template... it will etch immediately when it touches the glass... so you could tape the exposed edges off with blue painters tape if you want to be safe and not sorry. I have etched many things and once in a while I make a boo boo!
@@azadehpourshams4808 , no, you can't remove it, it's like engraved to the glass (and in a way IT IS still engraving, but rather using the engraving tool and *scratch* the surface in this case it's done with chemical reaction to the glass - a *scratch* in a micro way, same thing, different technique) But, you can use your imagination and artistic skills and mask the "boo boo" with adding more "boo boo's" and make it look like it's done on purpose. First, I LOVE the idea of the illuminated base! I’ll be ordering some. I make custom bride and groom champagne glasses for wedding shower gifts. Here are two tips that I’ve learned over my many years of making them: 1. Small scrap vinyl pieces are perfect for this! It doesn’t matter what color the vinyl is. 2. If you’re making these to sell, recommend to customers that they hand wash with only soap and water, as the etching does wear off over time. Dishwashing speeds up that process by a lot!
I've been etching for 20 yrs. I have the same set of glasses I first made. They are still as bright as when I etched them. Never had any fading with a dishwasher. But every item is different.
The etching is abrasive process, using chemicals, it's like engraving on a micro way, but not too deep, so I can't see how a etched glass can wear off, unless you polish the etched area, than YES, it may looked like clear glass again, but to do this, you need to apply a lot of force and rubbing on you glasses while washing them.
Love learning from you. You are so calming & you make me feel like I *can* do anything! Q: Does the quality of the brush you use to apply the etching cream matter? I picked up an inexpensive set of 5 at a local craft store that say they are made with 'soft natural bristles'. I'm hoping they will work for this process. Also related to the brushes; do you reuse them & if yes, how many times? My guess would be to use them until the bristles start adhering to your project. Well, hopefully before they make a mess of things anyway. For viewers: do you find yourself nodding & talking to Jennifer during her videos? LOL !!! It's like having your best friend in the room with you sometimes!
The quality of your brushes does not matter, and yes, if you wash them, you can re-use them as many times as you can! :) You are just too sweet! Thank you!
@@JenniferMaker The acid doesn't eat the bristles away on the brushes? My guess originally was that acid would damage anything! Do you use a liquid soap while washing them under running water?

Thanks for the clear instructions. I was so excited to see this video yesterday. This was a very helpful tutorial! I tried doing an etching project on a whiskey decanter using a stencil made by a friend on her cricut, but I don't know what kind of vinyl was used. I couldn't get a complete seal on the glass, and the stencil ended up bubbling a bit on part of the design, so it didn't come out perfect, but it was pretty good overall and not terribly noticeable. I'll definitely try again using your tips! Thank you!!
I was looking to do a wedding gift for my niece and thanks to you I now have tbe perfect idea. I really do appreciate the time you spend on making these videos to educate and entertain us. 😊

You are by far the best and coolest RUclips cricuiter! Literally other circuit youtubers just do the basic projects and you expand the creativity, discover new things and make us all feel confident in doing things out of our comfort zone! I appreciate you so much! Thanks for everything!
Thank you Jennifer, this is the very first time I've ever watched one of your videos! Wow, you are so talented, not just in doing these Cricut things, but in telling us how to do it! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
I have watched this tutorial several times. I got up the nerve to try. Found some stencils at Michaels. Used a cleaned out clear candle holder from an Aldi candle. Got Armour etch cream from Amazon. I am amazed! So very Pretty. Also did a clear wine bottle. So many Possibilities! I am hooked.
Thank you sooooo much for this detailed and informative tutorial. I bought Armour Etch like 5 years ago and have yet to do anything with it because of fear of messing up! I’m confident I’ve got all the tips and tricks I need to be successful now.
You are awesome. I love watching you. Honestly you are the reason I want a maker so bad. So I thank you for your hard work and your creative side. I have had so many ideas and you have shown me how to make them come alive.
FYI...Some “Pyrex” style glass will not etch. Anyone want to know how I learned this? By the way, I’ve still got some of the 16 casserole pans that were meant for Christmas presents.
I see people post all of the time they can’t get Pyrex to etch. I have etched 20+ Pyrex dishes and they have always worked. I only leave on for about 10 minutes. I wonder why this happens. I always get nervous when I have an order because so many people have trouble. So far I’ve been good though.
one thing i learned about this etching cream is it is so strong that not only the cream itself can etch but also its fumes. ones the fumes (which is not visible) comes in contact with the glass, it will instantly eat away. so its better to turn off any fan that can blow the fumes on the side of the vinyl where you applied the cream.
I just hit the subscribe button looking forward to watching more of your videos thank you for the step by step instructions I want to do some etching now
I was researching on Google you came up. Not what I wanted but I must say your “set” looks very nice, clean, appealing to the eye. Your clothing is nice the work area clean and camera position good. Your hands are well manicured and clean. I’m sure some watchers and crafts people can do it better just ask them, but yours is a standard a lot of content creators should follow, especially the restoration people.
I have wanted so very much to do this, now thanks to Jennifer, I will be able to do so. Thank you so much Jennifer. I watch your videos everyday and have learned so much.
I have glass etched for many years. I've never stood there and continuously brushed the cream over the glass. However, I used more cream than you did. All I've ever done was liberally put the cream on and let it process. Never had an issue.
A tip I recently came across to snip the corner of the vinyl in cases like this so you can get more movement in the stencil! Going to try it in addition to your wonderful tips for my glasses. Thank you!
Hi it’s Sharon here , I bought a brother scan and cut about 10 months ago , what a big mistake . It was brand new , and cut great for a few months but now it just chews everything up , I can’t cut anything with it , I’ve started having to use my deep blade to cut anything but that still isn’t great , I wish I had got a cricut, watching this tutorial had made me want it so much more , even the program on your computer looks easier to use , thank you for sharing x
I made lights like that but I was engraving my glass with a dremel, and making wooden bases and wiring up the LEDS myself. Looked great, and more hand-crafted rather than store bought, but I am going to try using my Cricut and etching cream now
I just attempted my first glass etching after watching your video and it turned out perfect! Thank you for having such wonderful videos that are easy to understand!

Thanks again Jen! You truley are the Best!🙂
Appreciate your videos, they are always so real, showing all the things that can go wrong so we can avoid making the same mistakes. Thank you so much Jennifer!
Thanks so much for the help. Had the Armour Etch for ages and used it on a wine glass for the first time today and it worked first time despite me using a very fine font.
My mom used to etch glass using Armour Etch, but she used Contact Paper and traced designs on then cut out with an xActo knife! Soo much easier to do now with a Cricut!
Aloha from Hawai’i Jennifer. Question for you. I suppose the idea for making multiple etchings of the same decal on multiple items such as the wine glasses would require one to print out as many of the same decals as you need? You do not have a technique to reuse the same decal repeatedly right? Thank you
Not for etching because it needs to have a good seal so the etching cream does not get under the stencil but we do have a reusable stencil tutorial for other things. jennifermaker.com/reusable-stencil-with-cricut/
That makes complete sense. I have a new respect for those who create great glass etching work in multiples using this method. Thank you Jennifer for your generosity in helping many people make a difference in our lives. I am supper humbled by your timely reply, and ultimately, for your super superior talent and platform. As a new Cricut owner, I may have been too excited to ask a greater question instead to merit your attention. Alas, I have some etching to complete in 2 weeks so I greatly appreciate your time. Mahalo nui loa! Thank you very much!

I didn't not you were supposed to keep the etching cream moving then etching! I've been etching for a few years now, and never knew that. Not sure if it was changed from when I started or what, but never saw those directions. Good to know as your etching was flawless. Hugs, Brenda
Armor Etch does not say to move around in the instructions. I just visited their website because I just put it on and walk away and wondered if there were new instructions. They don't have anything new, it says to put on a layer thick enough to hide the design, wash after etching is done.
Thank you. I made my very first etching of a very detailed angel on a small mirror today while watching your video (for the umpteenth time). It turned out pretty good. Thanks again Jennifer. I love your videos. You make everything look so easy.
One thing I notice is that NO ONE mentions to make sure you clean your sink out very well after rinsing your project after using Amour etching cream. IT WILL ruin a porcelain sink if you do not clean it well afterwards. I know this from experience. I thought I rinsed it out enough, but recommend CLEANING it very well. I love watching your videos Jennifer Maker.
I made my first design with the help of this video, thanks!! I just want to say tho, that I put green painters tape around my vinyl stencil and the armour etch etched through it. So I'd suggest something else, or double up the painters tape! I did leave the etching cream on for about 20 minutes, so I'm assuming that contributed as well.
SO glad I watched this BEFORE making my project. I THOUGHT I knew how to use etching cream as I've used in the past.....obviously way long ago. LOL I also had bought stencil vinyl....NOPE, not using it!! THANKS!!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Just got a cricut joy xtra and waiting for my Armour Etch to arrive sunday so i can start on this project. Also I'm watching ur other video on using my Android Phone with my cricut so thanks for that video as new well. Such a wonderful teacher.

We usually have about 10 people that attend crafts Do you sell the stencil on the transfer tape? I am just totally lost! I thought we would try a very simple thing for Valentines Day. I want to get the small square class planters from Dollar Tree and may be etch, one large hard and two smaller ones. Please let me know if you do or if not, where I can get these! Thanks!
So glad i came and watched this video. I had just watched another video and the stuff they used they said donr soak in water, dont put in dishwasher ...pretty much just for looks. And they used screen print ink to add more color because theirs didnt show up much. All around not good! I kind of scratched the idea of trying this until I saw your video! So thank you!

Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
Wow. I never knew this was possible without an etching machine. Thank you for showing us how to do this! 💕 Your projects came out so beautiful!
Yay! Glad it helps! :)
I was looking to do a wedding gift for my niece and thanks to you I now have tbe perfect idea. I really do appreciate the time you spend on making these videos to educate and entertain us. 😊
You are so welcome!
Oh YAY!! Love your videos!!

Thank you for helping me with your creative ideas as well as your tips and tricks!!
I can not tell you how much you’ve helped me with my projects!
Thank you so much for sharing, this helped me IMMENSELY!! Just started using armour etch yesterday and I let it sit and see A HUGE DIFFERENCE when you kept brushing it on. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
I just found you on YT a several days ago and I Love,Love your tutorials! By the way, you look so cute in your apron! I will be watching a lot. TY and blessings!
You are by far the best and coolest RUclips cricuiter! Literally other circuit youtubers just do the basic projects and you expand the creativity, discover new things and make us all feel confident in doing things out of our comfort zone! I appreciate you so much! Thanks for everything!
Thank you again, Jo Jo! 😍
Nicely done video. Thank you for showing the do’s and don’Ts.
Thank you Jennifer, this is the very first time I've ever watched one of your videos! Wow, you are so talented, not just in doing these Cricut things, but in telling us how to do it! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
You are so welcome! 💜 I am glad to hear that!
Your videos are always soooooooo helpful, easy and fun. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the video I think i will give it a try for weddings gifts
Thank you sooooo much for this detailed and informative tutorial. I bought Armour Etch like 5 years ago and have yet to do anything with it because of fear of messing up! I’m confident I’ve got all the tips and tricks I need to be successful now.
I love love this you make it look so easy i haven't tried etching so maybe it is 😉 you're the best Jennifer!!
You are awesome. I love watching you. Honestly you are the reason I want a maker so bad. So I thank you for your hard work and your creative side. I have had so many ideas and you have shown me how to make them come alive.
Aww! Thank you so much Laura! I'm so glad you're able to find my resources helpful. Thank you for making my day! :)
I've never etched anything--but now I will! Thank you!
Jennifer, my Maker bestie, this is my next breakthrough “bucket list” technique to learn !
Oh, thank you! Can't wait for you to give it a try! 💗
Fantastic!!
FYI...Some “Pyrex” style glass will not etch. Anyone want to know how I learned this? By the way, I’ve still got some of the 16 casserole pans that were meant for Christmas presents.
Vera Yancey I learned that just as you did! 😩
Oh no!
What happened!?
Mackenzie Oster
Nothing happens. It doesn’t etch at all. I left the etching paste on for over an hour and nothing.
Thanks for the information!
I’m sure some watchers and crafts people can do it better just ask them, but yours is a standard a lot
of content creators should follow, especially the restoration people.
Wow, thanks!
Hi, can you link the light up stand from amazon? Thank you
I'm glad I got to watch this. You taught me I don't have to use as much product as I have been. Thank you. Jennifer
YAY! Glad to help!
I love your videos!! Thank you for all the details and tips!!! ❤️❤️❤️
We tried this and the results came out perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your creative abilities with the world.
You are so welcome! I'm so glad to hear that! 😃
I love glass etching. I was always bored with the patterns they offered and taping it out and cutting...what a pain. This is so much better.
YAY! Happy to help!
I have wanted so very much to do this, now thanks to Jennifer, I will be able to do so. Thank you so much Jennifer. I watch your videos everyday and have learned so much.
YAY! Best of luck on your etching projects!
I have glass etched for many years. I've never stood there and continuously brushed the cream over the glass. However, I used more cream than you did. All I've ever done was liberally put the cream on and let it process. Never had an issue.
Great to know!💗
A tip I recently came across to snip the corner of the vinyl in cases like this so you can get more movement in the stencil! Going to try it in addition to your wonderful tips for my glasses. Thank you!
You are so welcome! 💜
Sorry to hear that. Thanks for sharing.
Your explanations are always so easy to follow and makes it easy to step out of my comfort zone and look forward to trying new crafts.
Awww...thanks so much! :)
Glad I practiced on a wine glass I didn't care about first-I made a huge mess!! Re watched the video and worked out great the second time! Thanks.
Excellent! That is a great way to do projects! I won't tell you how many of mine haven't worked the first time! Or second! Or third! 😂
I made lights like that but I was engraving my glass with a dremel, and making wooden bases and wiring up the LEDS myself. Looked great, and more hand-crafted rather than store bought, but I am going to try using my Cricut and etching cream now
Go for it!
I just attempted my first glass etching after watching your video and it turned out perfect! Thank you for having such wonderful videos that are easy to understand!
Yay!! I'm so happy it turned out great🥰
Thank goodness I watched this first before buying some stencil vinyl! Thank you!!
You are so very welcome!💗
I used stencil vinyl and from Hobby Lobby never again, Jennifer is the best
Stenciling vinyl "I discovered" is great for flat surface's, Only.
Thanks so much for this video! I just finished up my etched champagne flutes for my wedding and they turned out perfect!
Awesome! Glad to hear that!
I used to purchase the stencils to etch glass, and am SO EXCITED to use my Cricut to create customized designs. Thanks for the great instructions!
Have fun!
I love how you show different options to see what works best. Saves everybody time and money!
Jennifer Maker! I just love how you make everything seems to easy to do. I love You.
Thank you so much!
Just wanna say thanks for the video..my project worked perfectly I had one real tiny leak through but you can't even notice..I was worried because it was quite large 🙌🙌🙏🙏
Nice work! Thanks for watching!😊🌻
This video was awesome! I’m going to make a set for my nieces wedding . One niece in June and the other one in September. Thanks Jennifer for such a great project!
Wonderful! Thanks for watching!😊🌻
Thanks so much for sharing this video Jen. I've watched two other videos by someone else and the out come was a major fail for etching glass. Your video was so full of info the other youtubers left out. I should of followed your tutorial in the first place. Thanks to your tutorial in etching glass my project came out awesome. Thanks again Jen! You truley are the Best!🙂
Glad it was helpful! 🥰
Appreciate your videos, they are always so real, showing all the things that can go wrong so we can avoid making the same mistakes. Thank you so much Jennifer!
I appreciate that! Thank you so much! 😊
Thanks so much for the help.
Had the Armour Etch for ages and used it on a wine glass for the first time today and it worked first time despite me using a very fine font.
Great to hear that! 😃💜
I just ordered my cricut to start crafting for my little sister’s wedding and I’m so excited to try this! Thank you for sharing your information!
You are so welcome!
My mom used to etch glass using Armour Etch, but she used Contact Paper and traced designs on then cut out with an xActo knife! Soo much easier to do now with a Cricut!
I agree! 😃
This was a great tutorial! All your tutorials are very thorough and well explained! I really like that you show us how different products vary with different projects in your videos. This is very helpful for people like me who are visual learners. Thanks for your hard work! You inspired me to start my blog and craft channel!
Glad it was helpful! Have you checked out our Facebook group for bloggers, Blog What You Love? A great source of information and support from people who are walking the same journey you are! 😍

Thank you! I just joined!
I tried this today following this video step by step and it's fabulous to do! I can't believe I was so nervous. Thank you Jennifer
You are so welcome, Heather! 😍
I was about to buy stencil vinyl because I’ve been wanting to etch some glasses, but I am so glad I watched this video first! Thank you so much ☺️
You are so welcome!
Great video!
Snipping the vinyl, but not too close to the design, is another good way to have the design lay properly around the curve.
That's a great idea!
Thank you. I made my very first etching of a very detailed angel on a small mirror today while watching your video (for the umpteenth time). It turned out pretty good. Thanks again Jennifer. I love your videos. You make everything look so easy.
YAY! Glad you tried it! Thanks so much for watching! :)
Jennifer, you are amazing! I love when you test and compare different methods and different products. Than you!
I'm happy to help!
Thank you! Noted! 😃
Your voice is so soothing. It's so hard for me to focus on your videos! You should make crafting ASMR videos!
LOL! Thank you for your very kind words! 😍
My first video of yours and I really enjoyed how calm you are and how you made it look so easy. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
I appreciate you taking your time explaining the different options. Awesome video!
Glad it was helpful, Janelle! 🥰
You are so welcome! Good to know.
SO glad I watched this BEFORE making my project. I THOUGHT I knew how to use etching cream as I've used in the past.....obviously way long ago. LOL I also had bought stencil vinyl....NOPE, not using it!! THANKS!!!
You are so welcome!
Glad it was helpful!
Oh good, I'm so happy you find my videos helpful! ❤️
YOU make it look so easy!
I work 8 hours a week at a low income senior apartment community and the tenants LOVE crafts
Two of the ladies started talking about etching and then everyone else chimed in and they all want to try it. We usually have about 10 people that attend crafts
Do you sell the stencil on the transfer tape? I am just totally lost!
I thought we would try a very simple thing for Valentines Day. I want to get the small square class planters from Dollar Tree and may be etch, one large hard and two smaller ones.
Please let me know if you do or if not, where I can get these!
Thanks!
All of my SVG's are free for you to use in my library. 😊 Here is the link. jennifermaker.com/resource-library/
Perfect for gift giving. Can't wait to start this project.
Glad to hear that!
Thank you for this! I'm curious.... what if you just left the Armor on without constantly brushing it for 3 minutes?
The longer you keep it on the darker your etching will be.
I am so glad you found my video helpful!
As of this posting, 1.9% of responders have zero appreciation for ingenuity and fine craftsmanship. These are the people whose stereo cabinets are made of 2x8's and cinder blocks that they use to blast "Free Bird" all day long. Go brush your tooth.
Awesome video, Jennifer! Yet another project I never realized a Cricut could be instrumental in creating.
Thanks.
This video was great...I really appreciate the time you took to talk about various sizes, time to leave it on and brushes/strokes to use. I also like to see the bleeds and how to smooth the vinyl. Thanks! I am going to try it right now. :-)
Thank you! I hope you see awesome results, and have fun! :)
My wine glasses turned out amazing!!! Thank you for such clear directions.
You are so welcome! 💜
Love you I saved material Thanks to you. Stenciling on wine glasses permanent vinyl 100%
Glad I could help!
