    Tires look incredible on this plane. I love watching you fly the bowl and side area of your property. When you leave the bowl and head away from your home up over the trees. This size plane just looks so cool. Then the return seeing the shadows over the trees you can almost forget that it’s a model. Nothing more to say than just another incredible video by Brian Phillips RC & Camera Crew. Love it, love it. God bless.

    Hey Brian, great add ons. I added the 6" Dubro wheels for the front. Lands much better without the bouncing with stock wheels. I also made some punch rods out of wire to replace the squirrelly springs in the rear wheel. The turning is amazing compared to the springs. Good idea about the Dubro wheel in the back. Love your videos; I learn a lot. Thanks.

    I put the 4 1/2 version of these tires on my air tractor, didn’t need to add any air either. They work great and eliminate the bounce habit it had on those hard stock tires. Great video Brian thanks.

    I’ve been flying the crap out of mine and love it. I’ve blown the motor when using the reverse mode during its fifth flight. Horizon replaced the motor and the second one has had no problems. Great flying big plane. It does not need a gyro at all period. I fly off grass so the big tires don’t create any problems. I use 5000 6S 60 C paks and get ten to fifteen minutes of flights on it.

    She's a thing of beauty..I'm glad I waited for THIS model.. I m getting it next, already have the trike..looking @ 4" main & 3" nose Dubro rubber wheels .. then when I get the 150T, 6" the same.. love the valve/tool to just "equalize" air pressure for perfectly soft bush tires!

      @@BrianPhillipsRC Prices are up, but definitely worth it! I'm so happy Horizion saw the potential of the C-150, scale beauty, typical trike, as we normally see @ airports & the slick taildragger mod either w/wheel pants of BUSH MODE! The C-152 Aerobat was beefed up C-150..
      So, Horizion Hobby put out a plane that can meet 6 different expectations.. trike, clean taildragger, Bush taildragger, then those 3 forms are DOUBLED as can be flown either scale or acrobatic😁

  • @snoriverrc3842
    @snoriverrc3842 3 года назад +3

    I'm kind of amazed how small they appear. The same tires on a Timber would look huge. Scale wise, and functionality wise I think they look great on the Cessna, which usually have the small tires anyway. 5 inches will allow a plane to land or take off on grass, dirt, gravel, whatever, especially pneumatic tires. I think this plane needs the pneumatics, just because of the strut style. No springs, and hinges, or shock absorbers on that one.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 года назад

      I think 6" tires would be super nice for looks, but these 5" tires are probably a bit more realistic, and a bit lighter, without giving up the functionality.
      Honestly, the bogeys are very springy and work great with the stock wheels and tires, which are basically HARD...I was amazed at how well the mains worked, but I was not impressed with the LOOKS of the stock back wheel...looked weird...this 2" Low Bounce is light and look GREAT!

    Since this has only a AR637TA 6-Channel RX, could you assign motor reverse to channel 5 and use AUX 2 for flight modes/safe select using an NX6? The book mentions this stuff which is confusing to which channel output on the RX is used for reverse. Just a thought since I use an NX6 that 7th channel is really handy. copy/paste from the book here:
    IMPORTANT: Thrust reversing requires a Spektrum receiver with Smart Throttle
    (including the AR637TA and AR631) and a Spektrum transmitter with a minimum
    of 7 channels. The Avian ESC is also backwards compatible with conventional
    receivers (PWM output signal) for normal operation, but reversing functions are only available with Smart Throttle technology.
    Thrust Reversing Setup
    Transmitter
    On the transmitter, select an open channel (not already in use), and assign it to an
    open switch. Use a different channel for thrust reversing and SAFE Select. Motor
    reversing is assigned to Aux 2/Channel 7, by default, in the Smart ESC. If SAFE
    Select and the ESC are assigned to the same channel, the motor will reverse in flight.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 года назад +1

      I BELIEVE you can make an assignment from Channel 5-9 for Thrust Reversing. As for SAFE Select, I believe you can make that assignment to 5-7.
      I assume you want FLAPS ;)
      Here's the list in no particular order, just to show count total...
      1) Throttle
      2) Rudder
      3) Elevator
      4) Ailerons
      5) Flaps
      6) Thrust Reverse
      7) SAFE (Flight Mode)
      Should would FINE on an NX6, a far as I can tell.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 года назад

      Longer, and a BIT wider. There's always another technical challenge with every change... I might point it Just a few degrees more N-NW, but really it's pretty good, other than the width and the runway could carry a bit further (100-125 feet more). That would be a pretty penny.....but as you can imagine, that's not cheap with lets say, 6" thick, 18" on center Rebar, fiberglass reinforced, let's say 12 feet wide by 125 feet more length - that's a 1500 square feet more (28 yards more concrete)
      I wonder what it would cost...

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 года назад

      Probably just whatever size they come with stock. I think 4.5" would be about right (BUT PLEASE MEASURE SO YOU'LL BE 100% SURE YOU AGREE - I measured mine at 4 Inches). If you do, they're a LOT heavier, so please be aware of this factor. The Carbon Z Cub / Cessna 150T are both CRAZY powerful, and handle the extra weight, since they're like 3X more heavy than the stock tires. I think the Timber and the Draco both do well on the stock wheels and tires, but that's JUST my personal opinion. I do think there are some planes that NEEEEEEED pneumatic, or at least softer tires, like the MAULE for example.
      Good luck Chad!

    Is there a way to program the sensitivity of SAFE limits?

      I think you can setup the bank limits, but I never mess with it, stock always seems to work well.

      Agree to disagree about being boring. I have an appreciation for the way all these planes fly, with some exception fro the "toy grade" garbage that we end up reviewing for the very low price points ($50-100)
