Pat does a great job of explaining the materials he is using and why he’s using them. The great thing about guide tied flies is that guides see so much what happens to a regular designed fly, and they will make adjustments so it will be successful. In one fishing season they probably spend more time on the water than most flyfishers do in a decade.
Thanks for watching.

Got it!!! Thanks again.
Nice tie Pat! I'll have to try that one. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching.
I believe he used squirrel tail to support the flashabou wing. I saw him tie it on some fishing show back I the late 80s or early 90s. In that version, he added lead wraps as an underbody. I tied some up, and they became my #1 crappie fly.
Thanks for watching!
Great video. I bought some commercial versions of that fly years ago from you guys and had forgotten how much I liked them. Thanks for the reminder and the excellent step-by-step
Thanks for watching and thanks for the support. Brian used to tie those himself for the shop.
That’s really cool- didn’t my realize Brian tied them. Thanks for letting me know!

Very good tutorial vid. Thanks for being specific about what you’re doing and why. I sure appreciate not seeing a super speed blurr with annoying hard rock music. Great job and please do more!

I'd like to see a montauk monster pattern. It was mentioned in the pike fishing video with Blane and I can only find images of the one from fulling mill.
Thanks for watching and please stay tuned.
How does it keel on a sinking line? Thanks
Thanks for watching. Please send your questions directly to Pat at admin@madriveroutfitters.com. He'll get back to you there. He does not monitor the comments here but will see your e-mail. You can also call him if you prefer.
The proper hook selection. Also bucktail tied on the top of the shank acts as a stabilizer wing.
What fish do you use this for?
This fly can be used for any fish that eats other fish! Feel free to call or e-mail the folks at the shop if any further questions. Thanks.
