    Rupert, Idaho. And I’m in the process of putting a 6 lug 14 bolt semi float rear axle in my 86 k10. It’s going to be on a 6” lift and 37x14.50 on 15x14 Bart wheels. Going to make a good mud truck just a slow process.

    Tallassee Alabama. My last rock crawler was a K5 with M1008 axles, 6 inches of suspension lift, 2 inches of body lift, and 44 inch TSL's. It did require quite a bit of fender clearancing with the sawzall. Truck worked awesome on the trails. I ran a 454 on propane with a th400/203 range box/205 doubler setup. Being able to do a front only dig to bring the front end around can be a huge advantage on the trail.

    Looks killer. I’m doing 5” lift on my 87 suburban right right now. But I went with the tension shackles instead of the shackle flip. I’ll probably stick to a 37” or smaller, I don’t want to cut my fenders if I don’t have to. When you ordered your springs, did you do stock location? Your fitment seems to be pushed forward on the front axle a bit. I ordered 1” forward for the front springs and 1” back for the rear on mine.
    I have a 6.2ls, 6L80E, NP205 and one ton axles I’m swapping in also.

    • @PootsGarage

  • @peytonmathis7460
    @peytonmathis7460 Месяц назад +1

    What gears are you running for the 40s? Would mine be ok with 4.56 and 40s kind of a daily drive won’t see dirt but occasionally it’s already trimmed up for 38.5s 5.3 ls slight cam turbo 400 transmission and np208 t case and 14 bolt rear Dana 60 front

    • @PootsGarage
      @PootsGarage  Месяц назад

      @@peytonmathis7460 mine is 4:56’s too. It actually drives real good around town and cruises at freeway speeds. I’d prefer lower gears for off-road, but my granny gear transmission makes up for it.

    • @peytonmathis7460
      @peytonmathis7460 Месяц назад

      @@PootsGarage I’m really debating going to 40s just for the heck of it I gotta get tires anyways and my axles need rebuilt as well so I’m also debating going to. 37s and 4.10 but not really sure which way I want to go, 40s + axle seals and leave gears = badass looking truck and still practical but probably would need to trim more. Or 37s + 4.10 gears = no cutting still looks badass just not as much and still be more practical. Both would probably come out about the same price so I dunno

    mesquite nv were did you get the cross over steering?

  • @steelmill
    @steelmill Год назад +1

    I have a feeling that those tires are way to big.I have been restoring these Square Body trucks for over 35 years and had every tire size known to man.37 13.50 on 17 in wheels seem to be about perfect with minimal Body trimming. I Always trim the front fenders below the side marker lights.Come up 4 inches from the bottom of the fender and slice.This is just my 2 cents worth.Oh yea now it won't get through the garage door.

    • @PootsGarage
      @PootsGarage  Год назад +1

      They are definitely too big 😂. But I’ve always planned on lots of fender trimming, so we’ll make ‘em work!
