    People need to keep in mind, people have been talking about the dream of a $20k EV forever now. In 2008, when battery prices were almost 10x higher, $20k would be almost $30k when you factor in inflation. But hey, if they can bring it... bring it! I don't care if it's Chinese. Ha!

      I care if it's Chinese, they have horrific quality control.

      @@dl2839 there are a number of Chinese EVs with solid quality. Not all, of course.

    Why are there STILL subsidies for oil companies?

    The incentives are picking winners. Emotorcycles/autocycles are more efficient (in the case of Aptera way more efficient) options for those that they work for but are made less competitive by giving discounts for the competition. The IRA EV incentives also disincentivizes other green options like walking, carpooling, transit, ebikes and keeping reasonably efficient ICE cars rolling. A 15% tax on new ICE cars would be far better than handing out money and after that (offsetting the external impacts) the free market should be allowed to decide.

    I find it absolutely amazing that so many EV enthusiasts are Trumpers. Trump is the antithesis of clean energy.

    I came in midway but I wholeheartedly agree that the 2-parties have moved too far apart to effectively govern. I am truly sorry you felt you had to leave rather than work for change. Electric does not currently work for my everyday drive vehicle. Our drives are at both extremes either daily driving at ~400 miles a month or 700 miles a day. We I cannot park a vehicle on our property where we could fuel an electric vehicle at home. Electric-fueling stations are more than 5 miles away and slow. My time would be wasted waiting for a charge. Petro-fueling is a 10 min stop clean the bugs off the windshield then go. Trading/selling my vehicle to buy an electric one would not help the environment since it is likely that the next owner’s daily drive is likely to be more than my current one. Currently fueling location and wasted time are the main obsticles. We will re-evaluate when it is time to retire the current vehicle. By that time there maybe a moresuitable vehicle available, such as the Aptera.

    We have 100% tariffs to protect our overpaid union workers and bad auto company management. So our car prices are too high. I am waiting for prices to drop.

    • @freethinker4991

      Gee you have been brainwashed the 100% tariff is not protecting auto it put in place to crush China dumping of excess production in there country. Sales in China have dropped so the Government in china is encouraging sales to other countries i.e dumping.

    Yes, the AVERAGE car is 50,000. There are entry level cars. The Corollas, Kona, Escape, Civics etc are common. Also. The more expensive car has a higher down payment. The down payment is the major barrier for the first time buyer.

    Not within the President's power to reallocate funding. That would violate the Constitution. Only Congress has the power to tax and spend.

    Yes, oil companies get subsidized but the fact remains that petroleum does so much more than just power transportation. Its used in literally everything and super important. I like DJT's all of the above approach. And by the way, most of the worlds major emission sources do not even come from the United States. Its called transcontinental pollution.

    In Houston and a Lariat Lightning owner. will be in Thailand in March/April. Hope you have a get together while I am there for views/fans.
    I think they will be the same. Trump will give money but not restrict it as much to appease the unions or cap it for higher price cars. So even if it is less per car it would be more per car. I do agree with many that the bigger advantage would be cars that get more miles on a charge. I have a lot of people I know who ask me about he car and trips I take and the magic number I think would be 550 - 620 miles. That would mean 475 highway miles. If you can charge that battery in 30 mins I think that a lot of people would be ok with that car.

    Their stand on 'EVS does not matter... People will just not have the money to buy EV even with government programs if Harris wins.
    You can see that in europe, EV sales tanked alot when the economy went bad.
    also Mandates are horrible for EV. they need to compete in a fair market or they will never make it.

    Joining you from Australia via RUclips, I think Trump will be good forTesla, perhaps the other brands not so much. Tesla profitable without subsidies and incentives the others are known to be struggling. China is teslas main competitor so tariffs will only help Tesla to the detriment of the US consumer I think.👍

    • @Stash186
      @Stash186 2 месяца назад

      In Q3 2023, Tesla’s revenue from carbon credits reached $554 million, which represented 29% of Tesla’s net income for the same quarter. They have likely been making it without subs for a while.
      Also take a peek at Tesla production in the Shanghai giga factory, it 51% currently of Tesla’s automotive production.
      China will be a competitor but Europe is now increasing restrictions on Chinese cars and the US currency has severe restrictions on Chinese cars, and no subsidys on Chinese batteries.
      Cheers from Bangkok

    With regard to the difference an American president can make, my mind jumps immediately to Bush Jr. and Iraq. Those million or so Iraqis who were killed over there during the American occupation might have a rather strong opinion on that. I wish I could look at an alternative timeline where Gore won to see how he would have handled 9/11. What would have been particularly telling is if it never occurred in that alternate universe.

    The way he just flatly said it out in the open is amazing though. The only thing more amazing is how unsurprising it was that he did so.

    It's not $8B for 20 chargers... duh. The rollout is just going to be on a bell curve, and those first twenty represent the first trickle; the outliers before most of them start getting constructed around a year from now. Imagine the process leading up to just allocating the funds to the states. Then the process after the states get the funds... the committees... the approval process... choosing locations... rebuttals from citizens. Then once they finally have a location, they need to get it bid out... and then the permitting process takes place, which alone can take forever. Some of these states have never been in charge of building chargers. Keep that in mind too.

    • @nox5555
      @nox5555 2 месяца назад

      Is there even a need for so many fast chargers? slwo charger are much cheaper, fast to install and do the job very well. who cares if it takes 9 hours if your car is on the office parking lot anyway?
