Of my 65 years, I've had cats for a total of 55 years with continuous cohabitation for the past 41 years. In my experience, it's the stray kitties who are the cuddliest regardless of their breed. They know they've found their furrever home and are especially grateful. 😻
UPDATE: I rescued a kitten from the underside of a car a couple weeks ago. Little female I named Hope because she had been in a hopeless situation until I came along and changed that for her. She's #23.

I rescued 2 eight week old half breeds (ragdoll mom and British shorthair dad) from a back yard breeder. I was very nervous initially for I really did not know what to expect personality and health wise. Honestly I don't want to jinx it but now at 5 months old I am truly thankful, actually I feel blessed that they came into my life when they did. Not only are they now true showstoppers looks wise but my 2 baby girls Sasha and Porsche (a) are truly truly gorgeous inside and out that I feel that I hit the jackpot. 😅

Just lost my male at 17 years old last April and miss him every day- his head butts, his demanding 10:00 pm bedtime, and hugging him. My female will be 18 in a couple of months and is my little prima donna. What a great breed! "Cats were worshipped in ancient Egypt and they have never forgotten this."

I have a shorthair black cat - the pound said she was a "York Chocie" but effectively a black cat with slightly longer than shorthair and when she stretches out her brown undercoat in the sun is chocolatey. Anyways she's a "Don't put me down" type and loves extended on the lap purr and pet periods. She was a stray the first 6 months of her life so its not spoiled kitten syndrome. She'll cuddle, loves to be "Shoulder Cat" where she rests her chest on my chest and her head and forelimbs are on the shoulder.
Frankly most pets will cling to anyone who regularly give them comfort and a meal, even abused ones/neglected ones once trust is built up. The latter save the worst case (like fighting dogs, extremely hurt animals) it's a day or so. Food. Meals. They pee or chew on something and the owner doesn't get a stick and beat them but talks nice to them.
So consider rescuing a stray's life. They tend to be wonderful mixes of various "Purebreeds" but the harsh life of the feral ones weeds out the genetic defects along with breeding with them that the big $ ones have. Most of the time you'll get a smart, affectionate and wonderful pet for the cost of adopting and minimal things.

    • @allcats8017
      @allcats8017  5 месяцев назад +2

Cats can definitely be cuddly and adorable! It just depends on the individual cat's personality and how they've been socialized. Some cats love cuddling while others prefer their personal space. It's all about finding the right balance!

Burmese, your conclusions might be under estimated. I love the breed so much I was foolish enough to adopt 4 of them. They are beyond affectionate. My experience for the past 11 years has been 3 things I love and are more than I expected. Affectionate is more like clingy, they talk all the time and mine like to take turns demanding to be cuddled, played with and yes hold some uncanny conversations. Oh they also tend to watch, observe and follow their humans regularly. They also dislike it when I leave the house. If you adopt one don't expect to do anything without their observation, even using the bathroom. ❤

I have never gotten a pure bred cat in my life. We always rescued our cats from shelters, and one even right off the street. Of all the cats I've ever had, only 1 was not affectionate, and that one was a very long story. While some breeds can be somewhat more predictably social or sweet, my experience is that few cats of any breed or lack thereof are super aloof and uninterested in cuddles. If a cat is socialized properly, they will almost always be loving and affectionate. Of course, when cats are pure bred, they get the socialization with humans and other cats from birth, so of course they're going to be well-adjusted, trusting, and affectionate. Yes, some cats might choose a favorite person or couple of people to be super loving to and be a bit more standoffish with others, but you're far more likely to encounter aloofness from previous strays and shelter cats with a less than fortunate beginning. Still, that being said, nearly all of our shelter cats have been very loving and sweet. Even our feral little road baby is a now lap-seeking cuddle bug and sleeps nestled between my husband and me every night. All in all, the key is respecting their boundaries and developing an understanding of how they like to receive affection. If you don't force it and you let them come to you, you'll find most cats quite receptive to love and connection.

After he died, she eventually started warming up to me. She will cuddle up with me when I sit down to relax in the evening. And now she has started getting in bed me, but she stays mostly near my feet. But she will only cuddle when she decides to. If I try to pick her up, she will try to get away quickly! But I love her!

Tough to out cats in groups. We’ve two Ragdolls and one was the stereotypical Ragdoll, you could pick him up and do whatever you wanted with him. Very social, he loved everyone. The other, who was about a year older, is the alpha male in our house. My wife and I are about the only ones he will tolerate being picked up and he only allows you to pick him up a certain way. He’s sitting waiting on me to get home from work, and if I don’t spend 10-15 minutes talking to him and brushing he gets really testy. Fascinating creatures.

My cat is so affectionate I've never even known a dog who has wanted to be so close to me, when my hand is beginning to stroke her head she almost pushes my hand to make that stroke so very long and as much force as I can muster. Then I look down and notice she's put the top of her head on top of my foot, her whole body moved around so she can show me how close she wants to be. I've had her since she was 10 to 12 weeks old as a feral kitten. She's always been scared of loud noises or anyone new. But she is the most important person in my life. She follows me everywhere I go.

I thought I wanted an Abyssinian once, just because their coats are so beautiful, but when I looked into their purrsonalities I decided they weren’t for me. Like you said, they are high energy & very smart. I wasn’t up for the amount of work needed to keep their minds active so they wouldn’t get into constant mischief, lol. Also, all the literature I read said that they were not cuddly. They liked to be in the same room with their people, but were rarely lap cats.
My great aunt had a Persian cat when I was small & I never met a nastier tempered cat! I seemed to recall he was good w/her, but nobody else should dare get close if they valued their skin, lol. So he colored my perception of all Persians & as I’ve grown older, I have developed a distaste for flat faced animals, cat or dog & don’t think breeders should be encouraged to strive for such deformations. Just my opinion!
I’ve been owned by traditional Siamese cats most of my life. I’ve had Seal points, Blue, Lynx & flame points & they’ve all been affectionate from time to time, but always on their own time. None of them could be forced to sit in my lap. I think that is just the nature of all cats. It has to be their idea, lol!

It was confusing to see tabbies and Bengals mixed in with some of the breeds talked about. I've got a rescued stray who won my heart because he walked into my home and asked to be picked up. When I did pick him up, he wrapped his paws around my neck and hung on for dear life. It'll be one year next month. His estimated age was 3 years, probably a March kitten, so he'll turn a year older right after our anniversary of when he first walked in. I don't know what breed he is. The veterinarian listed him as domestic shorthair, and I'm guessing American, not British. But he looks similar to the chartreuse kitties in this video... Except I'm not sure if those video samples showed actual chartreuse or just random stock footage cats.

We had two part Siamese siblings kittens years ago who were pretty affectionate and fun loving happy cats. A brother and sister. We also had a tuxedo (not related to them) that we got a year later. He was really affectionate with me but I've always been really sweet to him especially since he seemed to be left out a bit more than the other cats I thought.
The older cats welcomed him into the family pretty well but the girl cat was mine and the boy cat was my mom's and they both got jealous and defensive when we tried to let the tuxedo in our rooms. They did not mind him at all in the house and would let him steal their food. But when that happened we would give them more food so they knew they would never go hungry. I would try to give him extra attention but then my cat disappeared one day in our new neighborhood a year after we moved, he pretty much became mine. But there were some crazy people in my neighborhood who stole cats and all three cats disappeared over a period of 6 years. And my last cat I got during covid was ran over by some reckless speeders so we haven't had cats since. And probably never will in this house. Hopefully I will soon again in my new house. I sure miss having pets.

I'm genuinely worried I might someday adopt the perfectly cuddly and affectionate lap catwho reads minds. The cat is a Rag doll/Munchkin with blue eyes and she turns out to be so cute it causes me physically explode the first time we head-butt.

In my experience, siamese are the most affectionate but all cat breeds are affectionate towards me so i want to say all breeds but there have been a few stand offish cats but that was more indicative of the environment they were in before i met them rather than based on the breed

The only downside of the rag doll I’d say is that they pinpoint one particular owner. I used to have a rag doll and and the it ONLY liked me, apparently this is a thing with their breed that I found from later research. They MAY pick one person and gravitate towards them. He acted terrified of everyone except me lol a lot of hurt feelings from family and friends, I never forced him to socialize though

I've owned 3 Ragdolls and mine never showed disdain for others. The latter two were like velcro cats, always stuck to my side or whatever room I'm in.

The most affectionate cats would be cats that are rescued from horrendous living conditions. Why does it have to be a particular breed? There are tens of thousands of cats looking for a loving home. Why do people need a particular breed? Isn’t it about love? What cat could love more than a grateful cat!??

Thank you! I just took in two homeless kittens. I had never had a cat before, always a dog person. One runs from me always but when I catch him he will allow me to hold and cuddle him for a long time. . I always let him down when he starts squirming. The other one always allows me to pet him and follows me around but doesn't want to be held at all, so I don't. I've had them for a couple months and absolutely adore them. I knew nothing about cats but with the good and the bad I wouldn't trade them for anything.

I understand what you mean bro, but cats are not humans, they are driven by instinct and don't have critical thinking ,they have different temperaments, a cat doesn't understand or comprehend what gratefulness is.
Different purebreds will behave differently and some are more affectionate than others. In a perfect world all these cats would have a nice home, but too many people adopt them only to give them away later, or let their cats have too many kittens without thinking who is going to look after those kittens and it sucks

All cats will love you back if you show them kindness and care ❤ Still, I'm very partial to the Chartreaux , having cared for one for almost 15 years until it passed some six months ago. Some day, when my family gets over his passing, we will have a Chartreaux again and another kitty, a rescue.
