A Y61 will be my next upgrade now that the family is up to 4. My worked Navara just does t have the room for all that goes with kids (mind you I could take a lot of my weekend gear out of the tray😆 but then what if I drive past somewhere that makes me think, “yeah I’ve got a spare hour”)..probably shoot over from NZ and pick a tidy one up from NSW if the price is right. My Navara came from a fella that moved over from Aus with his Patrol on 35’s and my Nav on 33’s. Picked her up with 50k on the clock! Patrol was obviously his go to as it had 90,000 on it. Oddly enough he traded both within a couple of months of moving for a 200 series cruiser and a Hilux 🤔 before the Nav I was always a TOYOTA boy, had various cruisers, lux’s and Surfs. Now 70% converted to the dark side, NISSAN all the way
One of these days my wife and I are going to leave Perth and drive up the coast and do as much off roading as we possibly can, even if it means following others in their 4x4s . I have a 3rd generation Toyota 4runner with the 4.0 litre Prado V6 fitted and that gives me plenty of grunt to tackle most tracks in WA . Have lockers front and rear plus all the extra,s to make off road touring that much more enjoyable
I just picked up a set of 37s KM2s for my lifted Hummer, its torture having to wait for the shop to mount them up...they are a bit big for their machine....I also grabbed a set of KO2s for my daily driver and have to say I am very impressed, I cant wait to feel the difference between the M/T & the A/T. Check out my channel I will have a ton of wheeling videos coming up very soon.
I know this video is getting a bit aged now but @17:20 the comment “ only Jeeps flex like that “ isn’t entirely true. Anything with a 3 link front end can flex like that 😉. I watched again because I love it
Great vid, thanks. Just a question, is the Jeep an inferior 4x4 or is it just a more inexperienced driver behind the wheel? It's like he can't get power quick enough.
Thank you 👍 Glad you liked it. The reason why the Jeep is the way you saw it, is because it has a multi speed transfer and it was running on the lowest ratio. The Jeep is well built and modded, and the driver is very experienced.
+heroofharo No, I haven't abandoned the Jeep love. It's just that I'm having a lot of fun with the Patrol that I built for offroading adventures. I still have the WK though, need to tweak the suspension a bit, also getting a Wrangler in about a year or so for my son.
ah ok, we never got the patrols in the states, the older ones with solid axles seem like they were really cool and capable rigs. we had the xterra, but IFS, and weak front differentials on them. so you couldn't do much more to them, they came on 32's from the factory from 2005+ but that was as big as the difs would safely push. the older xterras occasionally had 4.90 gearing from the factory though.
i almost want to live in australia knowing that you've actually got more than 1 choice for a solid axle off roader. in america our only choice is the wrangler. other than that it's an F250 or a ram 2500, which are way too big to bring into the woods. that and you guys seem to have tons of places to actually go out n play. not too many here.
You won't want to be in qld with those size tyres on. Even if it's legit in NSW with mod plate etc you'll be getting the fine shortly before being sent home on a tilt tray (if unlucky). Qld is pretty shite for rules when modifying and the maximum size upgrade is 50mm diameter, any more and you're screwed. The cops are often up the glasshouse for this very reason, they also crack down on us for the lift which can only be 1/3 more than the standard height. My mate has a drone which we use to check the place out before entering now. We've spotted them no more than two kay in from the raaen rd end at wamuran, trail bikes and groups of 4 wheeler's all being written up. I've witnessed a bloke getting done for tyres, not having a visible rego plate (covered in mud) and had taken his rear lights off the tray. Pretty much turns anyone off the sport and it all started going down after captain bligh sold the forests off with all the other state owned assets. Someday we hopefully can line up with NSW and VIC, until then it'll be a quick look from the sky.
i know the video is old, but could you give me instagram or facebook so i can ask you some questions about this cherokee? or email from the owner of the cherokee

How much is that Patrol lifted? Great vid!
8 inches. Thanks mate 👍
is the ZJ yours? or did you abandon the jeep love after the WK?
+heroofharo No, I haven't abandoned the Jeep love. It's just that I'm having a lot of fun with the Patrol that I built for offroading adventures. I still have the WK though, need to tweak the suspension a bit, also getting a Wrangler in about a year or so for my son.

+heroofharo The Patrols (Y61's) are still sold new here with solid axles. They have the strongest stock driveline out of all 4x4 models.
i almost want to live in australia knowing that you've actually got more than 1 choice for a solid axle off roader. in america our only choice is the wrangler.
other than that it's an F250 or a ram 2500, which are way too big to bring into the woods.
