You can lazy chop through resample as well. So say you load one of your samples up go to resample in a drum rack and lazy chop from there. just press the original pad to start chopping.

OK, after almost a week of resisting temptation, I caved. I bought an Ableton "Capture" this afternoon. Normally with all my gear, I wait for a few OS updates etc, but the pull of being fully into the Ableton ecosystem, I decided to just go for it. I recently bought a 2nd iPad air and I bought Note last week, so the idea of the seamless workflow is everything I've ever dreamed of. Let's hope that it turns out that way.

@@johnviera3884 capture is really fun and whilst I agree that Koala on an iPad is awesome, it’s just not the same feeling using a screen as it is on hardware with pads. You can use a midi controller with Koala but the Move is just a great little all in one device. It’s all about choice though, it’s just whatever works for you. 🙂👍
@@johnviera3884 it’s just a little joke. Some others have said that the Moves best feature is the midi capture, so said that the Move should have actually have been called Capture. I use Koala and like it so much, I’ve bought it for both Android and iOS. But maybe it’s my age, but I can’t help but have a more enjoyable experience with hardware. Not that it’ll stop me from continuing to use Ableton Note and Koala on the iPad though.
@@billpayer3745 i sold my MPC1000. all I need is Koala and Logic Pro for now. but I am looking for a controller that works for me. I think once I add the MPC key 37 as a main controller with Koala as my skethpad and Logic as my workhorse. I’ll be set for life
Thanks for another video! I saw in your other video you using the hold function to set the length of a sample…I don’t have my Move yet but I saw someone on reddit say you can shift + decay knob to set lengths…check it out I hope it works! 🤞🤞🤞
@@vertigev a firmware update might see auto chop. The SP404 mkII wasn’t that capable until version 3.0. Check back in time as it will undoubtedly change. 👍

@@nervouscooks I mean thats a classic sampler method/ approach. Good to know... hopefully you can make a video showing. Then you can capture all the ways to chop on this box.
@@gregorybissell4255 technically yes but that means starting the sample as it needs to be playing to resample it, then quickly jumping into resampling mode. I found it tricky.

@@nervouscooks So is it really necessary to change the loop count on the track, if you’re not actually engaging “play” when you go to chop the balance onto subsequent pads?

@@braelighty6212 nothing, I love Koala but I lean more towards the tactile experience of hardware vs a screen or a screen and a midi controller. It’s just a personal thing. 👍🙂

set recording to resample , Play the original sample and use the pads to record slices directly to the different pads

I don’t know what Ableton capture is. But if you have an iPad and koala that’s all you need. and you can airdrop straight to Ableton

I tried hooking my phone up to the Move via USB to record samples into the device, but it appears this isn't possible. That's really pretty annoying.

Would be way easier if you could just copy sample to multiple pads, and change start and end points. Is that possible to copy samples to pads?
