Amazing!!! This is gonna be a reference for a lot of people!!!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Appreciate that! 👍
Pressing a pad should still show you the waveform of the sample on the pad, regardless of it not being destructive. Why wouldn't it?
The non-destructive chopping is great! This is the first place I've seen it demonstrated. I feel like this should have been mentioned in the initial marketing.
@@cloud_noises thank you, yeah I think there has been a bunch of useful stuff not mentioned in the official videos! 🙂
@@nervouscooks they should’ve had you on there haha
@@relative_vie 😂 appreciate that 👍
@cloud_noises The non-destructive chopping is how Logic's audio regions refer back to the original audio file for 25+ years. The same.
These companies feel they don't have to. They let the RUclipsrs do the work
Man, extremely well done. Definitely appreciate the amount of detail you cover in these videos.
@@BeatsAndGuitars thank you! 👍
This machine, in one year after some updates, will be massive! It can perform really simple tasks that will definitely make it better than the DT2 and the OP-1 at least for hip-hop. Devices that cost two to five times more. While the DT2 is great for house music, this one will excel in that genre as well but I think this workflow will be faster and the continuity in Live if you need more you feel that this machine has no limitations. It's great that you are educating people who still believe this is a limited machine; it is, in fact, a monster in the making.
@@0x2049 yeah I’m hoping Ableton step up and keep updating it frequently 👍🙂
How long will the battery last?
I almost passed on this device, Ableton should really get you to do these videos
I like your videos, thanks for your efforts. Loving my Move.
Thank you 👍
I’ve enjoyed your last couple videos on the Move and like your delivery style. Subscribed 👍🏻
@@antennatrees thank you!
Nice video. This is a good way to slice until they update. Thanks for your work!
Yes indeed let’s see what firmware updates bring 🙂
Nervous got me fuckin up another check on gear.
This is exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you. The manual is pretty unhelpful.
Did you do this in one take. Made for RUclips
Yeah but it’s got its little hiccups, not too many though I hope 😂
Appreciate this so much. Really was curious about the sampling!!!
@@justinjones2595 you’re welcome 🙂
Been waiting for a video covering exactly this! Thank you. In case you need more ideas for videos: would also love to know more about the playback effects and see them in action.
This is such a helpful video. Thank you!
@@michaelcibula9552 you’re welcome! 👍
THANKS! 😁🙏👊

@@thekeysman6760 nice! You can do the same on the MPC, I’m just surprised that it works this way on this particular device with some of the other limitations. Definitely glad it’s here though 👍🙂
Shift+Decay is your 'end point' for chopping
I’ll try that! Thanks for the tip 👍
Great vid ! Thank you!
Great video again! 🙂
@@db_030 thank you 👍
mate, have you tried holding (not selecting) multiple pads at once and transpose while holding those? i think i saw in one of the videos that been mentioned as a feature... great videos btw, you've nailed some curious points nobody else did yet
I haven’t, I’ll give it a go and see if it works! 👍
Interesting work through videos, keep them coming.
I'm still on the fence about this device but it does look interesting. Shame I'm more on Bitwig than Ableton nowadays though.
@@billB101 thanks 👍
Thanks for this.alot of great info. I feel so many ppl jumped the gun with 4 tracks etc. with your two videos you showed 4 tracks are enough ..ans I believe they will add more in a firmware update like the Note app.
@@createmusiktv very possible indeed! Time will tell 👍🙂
Not exactly part of sampling, but Ableton is now allowing you to create “custom presets” in Ableton Live and move them over to the Move.
Have you tried that yet? Looks pretty interesting
@@relative_vie I haven’t but I’ll try it for sure 👍👍
I’m sold
@@SimonPhoenix3 👍
thank you so much.
@@paulfobogadtke7568 you’re welcome! 👍
Hi! Thanks for this! Curious if there’s a way to reverse sample on the device. Thanks again!
@@chrismariner13 not at the moment sadly
Only 1 choke group is going to be my 1st complaint about this. Not really set up for fingerdrumming how id want. Drums on the bottom with an open closed hat on one choke group the samples chops up top with its own choke group. Damn 🤦♂️
@@LiftedNoise yeah that’s a fair point! It is limited that way. I’m just not sure how much they have planned for firmware and I can’t see them adding too much to it but you never know. 🙂
When you sampled with the mic, it auto-finds the transient and sets the start point.
When you sampled with line-in, that first pad didn’t automatically move to the first transient. Is it because you recorded over multiple pads? Or. Is line-in recording always going to set the start time to beginning of the sample and leave in the initial silence? Even when recording a one-shot onto one pad?
A huge selling point of this for me is I can sample drum/percussion sounds I make on my hardware synths and not have to do any real sample editing. I was hoping it would “just work” like it seems to with one-shot sampling from the mic.
Hello, do you know if the channel eq is 3 band or just single eq? I want to pair this up with my s2400 so just tryin get more insight of this device. Thank you and big ups 🔥
8:30 I suspect it is auto-muting the internal mic when it detects a line input to avoid feedback? Not sure. 18:00 in addition to being able to correct a start point, is this only using 1 sample file, just spread across the eight pads? It appears that hitting an additional pad while sampling is not starting a new sample, but just placing a start point in the existing sample. Saves on the number of sample files being created and held in memory. 20:10 With Sets and Notes on this device, manual says to press and HOLD to select multiples. Press and HOLD multiple pads, then turn the transpose knob? Thanks for your videos, my unit should arrive today.
@@aloharay someone else suggested hold but then said it didn’t work. I haven’t had a chance to look into it yet. 👍🙂
@@nervouscooks My unit came in and it was one of the first things I tried. Nope, couldn't select more than one pad on the Drumkit mode. Hooked up my Hydrasynth for midi controller and some sampling. This worked fine for controlling non-drumkit parts, such as the wave or drift synths. But, in drum kit mode, even with the 16 note mode on the right, it would not play the chromatic notes of the selected pad through midi in. Seems the midi in will only trigger the pads individually in the drum kit, not one pad chromatically. hmmmm. Now playing with using the manager feature with my phone wifi network for easy file renaming. Also looking for a way to apply gain to the sample file, not just adding volume to the pad afterwards. This way if I use the sample in other sets it is already loud enough. May have to edit externally and reimport through manager.
I still wait for my move to arrive but I was thinking … why u don’t just record one sample choke and duplicate it to the others 16 pads and just move you initial point and hold on every pads..so u can transpose it before for example only on the first pad and it will be already fine on the others
@@doublebreasted2251 that’s an interesting idea. I’ll try it out and see if I like it! Thanks for the tip 👍 🙂
@@nervouscooks hope it will work.. I think it can save some times ☺️I don’t see any sense on pressing multiple record buttons as they do in the ableton move tutorial , knowing it won’t be triggered in the right way and I still have to change everything manually .. duplicate multiple tracks of the first record looks more easy … but I still can’t test it.. mine arrive on Monday 🥲
@@doublebreasted2251 let me know how you get on with it once it arrives! 👍
Actually sampling starts at 8:51
There definitely doesn’t seem to be a way to pitch all slices. No option to filter all either. They’ll absolutely fix that.
Could a workaround be recording in your sequence, playing it, pitching & then hitting midi capture? It captured when I manually scanned through a Wavetable sample I was using…
Interesting, I’ll try that! 👍🙂
Just tried. It doesn’t work. You still have to select the pad to effect. It doesn’t select them as it plays through. Get your timing right & hit the pads again whilst tweeting the pitch eh. Ha!
@@jaytatt 😂 shame I thought you might have cracked it. I know Ricky Tinez had mentioned it wasn’t possible as he wanted to the same but filter everything. I’m really hopeful we’ll see that in a firmware update. Thanks for testing it though 👍
This might be a crazy question but can you “lazy chop” while it’s resampling?
@@BeatsAndGuitars it’s a good question but I’d have to try it. I hadn’t thought of that but I’ll give it a try tomorrow 👍🙂
@@nervouscooksYeah, this would be cool if it works as you could load in a sample from storage, resample, and chop rather than always having to come through the external in. I’ve been trying to find that information too.
Great content by the way. This is my first time seeing your vids and you’re killing it on the Move.
Can you set (per step) and send out MIDI CC and other MIDI messages on the out port? And, more importantly, can you route the external synth to the audio in and then through the selected MIDI track internal fx and back out to the master... or is the audio input only for sampling? The Novation boxes allow for audio routing this way.
I’m not sure, I’ll have to dig further into those functions 🙂
From what I have seen on my unit menus, Midi options through the USB port include: Midi in only, Midi out only, Midi out track X, where X is a specific track number 1-4. I have not found any Midi through options, nor any Audio over USB features yet. I suspect it has very limited routing options at this time.
@NervousCook$ for pitching everything to the same pitch at the same time, i think section 11.5 of the manual answers your question.
@@americoperez810 you get an A for effort but unfortunately it doesn’t work. That only works for instruments. It doesn’t transpose samples in a drum rack. Even if it did you would still need to record your chops in then pitch them which isn’t the best workflow, but it was a great suggestion and I was excited to at least have a workaround until the update it but unfortunately it’s a no go. Thanks for the idea though 👍👍
@@nervouscooks that's ridiculous lol
@@nervouscooks what if you created your own drum rack preset with transpose set to a macro then uploaded that to Move? Importing Preset's are still an experimental feature for Move but maybe this could work. The RUclips channel "Cursor to XYZ" just uploaded a video showing how to create, export, and import your own Preset's.
@@americoperez810 awesome I’ll check it out and try it. Thanks again 👍🙂
@@nervouscooks let me know what you find. I ordered a Move today. So I'm eager to know if this works too lol
Can you add LFO to the filter?
Is it possible to chop an imported/pre recorded sample via the resampling function?
Does this thing have patterns?
Yes it does. It's called session. It's just like the session view in Live
It has clips as they are called in Ableton so yeah that’s the same as patterns on something like the SP404 mkII or certainly similar. 👍
This device 24 bit or 32 bit?
Is there reverse?
@@pdelonn not that I’ve found so far.
And forward and reverse loop.
@@billB101 I need to look into it further but I think I might have seen at least a looping mode! I’ll come back to you on that. 👍🙂
Pull that sticker off the screen.
is there a release time to get a little fade at the end?
@@justinjones2595 I’m assuming decay would do that. 👍
This “ lazy chopping / non destructive “ is actually all you need for the sampling chopping process “ 😂
@@relative_vie yeah if they don’t add an auto chop I wouldn’t be upset. 👍
For samples from Mars that are basically “high-pitched”, short one-shots synths, what’s the best mode to use to play the sample back at its true tone/sound?
Zzz...
