This fight seems close because the Miranda and Connie Refits are not balanced properly. The differences between the two classes are not generally understood. The Connie's shields should be like 50%-60% stronger and its phasers should be 30% stronger than the Miranda's regular phaser banks. I have long seen people talk about the confusion as to why the Connie Refit is supposed to be superior to the Miranda when the Miranda actually has more phaser banks and torpedo launchers. The Constitution Refit is more powerful, though not because of weapons numbers, or because it is bigger; they actually are comparable in internal volume. The Connie Refit has the edge because it has a much larger warp core and primary reactor and can generate a lot more power. A Connie Refit's shields are much stronger. The Connie can also channel more power to its phasers than the Miranda. Bigger Warp Core in the new TMP era designs, as highlighted by Cmdr. Decker during TMP = more powerful phasers. The Miranda is a light cruiser for that reason. Khan did so well because he took away the Connie's advantages in the first moments of the engagement by crippling its main energizers and putting the ship on its back foot the entire film. At full power, the Connie Refit should be able to handle the Miranda with moderate effort. TOS has often demonstrated that ships can have comparable armament, but the ship with much stronger shields can easily outclass its opponent. Generally speaking, the Klingon D-7 was not that outgunned by the Constitution Class in sheer numbers of weapons emplacements. However, the Connie could comfortably defeat 4 to 6 D-7s, according to Sulu in "Errand of Mercy," because its power generation was such that the Connie's shields were very hard to take down and it could burn right through a D-7's shields with one long blast thanks to the power channeled to the phasers. In "The Deadly Years" a 8-12 Romulan Warbirds were hammering the Enterprise and after ten minutes its shields were still up. The Connie Refit had double the power of the original Connie.
Clearly, I need to watch everything again and dig into Memory-Alpha. I know player (in BC) is typically smarter than the AI but I didn't realize the Connie was so powerful. If so, were there not as many made due to resources/cost as compared to the Miranda? I know Excelsiors are still around to fight the Dominion, especially with the Cheyenne upgrades. Where did all the Connie's go?

This is pretty typical in world navies as well. Cruisers and destroyers were built in large numbers and often had longer service lives due to being versatile in role and upgradeable. Battleships not so much. G1 dreadnoughts were obsolete within seven years! Super dreadnoughts in 10 but for the Treaty. Battleships were built in small numbers as well. Most European powers, other than Britain and Germany, couldn't afford to have more than 6-10 battleships at any one time. Any premier weapon system gets outdated quick.

I think the Miranda was also built for likely having more chance of dealing with attacks while on system system/sector patrols. The Connie was much more of an explorer, which tbh I’d think that explorers would need stronger weaponry for the possible unknown.
I am very disappointed you didn't include any clips of Khan saying his famous words, and I am even more disappointed you didn't include Kirk screaming Khan's name when you lost the first battle. 😉 On the bright side, those are some fine looking ship models you got there. 🙂
Video Idea: An 8 competitor Bracket Tournament where you put the weakest ships up against each other. Like the NX, Oberth, California, TOS Area Ships, Galaxy Saucer, all up against each other to find the strongest of the weak... Then put the victor against a Klingon Shuttle
Needs balancing, Miranda is OP here. It was never intended to be better than the Constitution. Early games like Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Command knew that Connie is more powerful and has the upper hand in a fair fight. A light cruiser / destroyer is not more formidable than a heavy cruiser. The best ship is always chosen as the flagship too. This mod even gives the crossbar phasers a different visual effect like they're more powerful, when in TWOK they are the same as the hull emitters.
They might not have intended it, but the Miranda outguns the Connie. It has every weapon the Connie has, plus 2 aft torpedo launchers and those phaser cannons.

Honestly this video shows off how the movie was really the only time we saw a Miranda actually pose a huge threat. Had the refit’s shields been up, the Miranda wouldn’t have had nearly as much of a chance, but in addition, without Kahn, the Miranda wouldn’t have been nearly as precise. He was able to almost install cripple the refit with a few blasts just under the ships neck. Had he aimed any higher, and he could have pulled a Star Trek Beyond on the poor refit. I love how at 5:45 we even get to kinda see that happen. XD
Hopefully they update this Constitution mod to have aft torpedos. It's not obvious on the studio model, but it just stands to reason that since the TOS Connie had them and the NX had them, a refit Connie would have to.

The Enterprise Refit was pretty much built from the ground up. They stripped the original Enterprise down to it's frame work in order to do the refit for the ship. Yes the Miranda class was launched later but it wasn't that much more advanced than the Connie Refit in my opinion. I was like, "Holy crap!" when it showed the hole blown in the saucer there. By the way why are the shuttle bay doors open on the Enterprise? I also never understood why they didn't include aft torpedoes for the Enterprise refit. I bought Bridge Commander from GOG but for some reason it's not going into full screen mode properly. What can I download so I can run the program properly on my rig?

I have recently had to delete bridge commander due to it randomly not working. I’ve had this issue before and don’t know what it is. Idk if my computer can’t handle the files or what but it’ll work fine one day and then the next day, redownloading it doesn’t even solve anything
