Another binder clip use - clip all your bills together, then hang the open wire part on a push pin on your bulletin board. Unclip the bills as you pay them (I transfer mine to a spike holder [long stainless nail through the center of an old round wooden coaster]) and you know at a glance what you need to pay. Also, those _cardboard_ (not foam) egg cartons can be cut up into individual cups, and after cutting an X in the bottom of each one, you can start seeds in them! Use an old plastic plate as a platform as they're sprouting (to catch the excess as you water them), and when they're about an inch tall, you can plant them, cup and all, in the ground (the cardboard will decompose). Another use for glass jars: There are things (like apple sauce or wet cat food) that are cheaper in cans, but it's not good to store them in the can once it's been opened. Transfer the remainder immediately to a spare glass jar, then wash and reuse/recycle the can. Speaking of cans...flat tuna cans can help you measure how much watering you are doing! Just scatter them around your yard or garden, turn on the sprinkler, and watch as the cans fill up. A full tuna can indicates you have watered one inch, which is an ample drink for dry ground (one inch of water will sink into the earth about a foot). Sorry for going all Heloise on you, but since you gave me some good ideas, I thought I'd return the favor.
I keep a small tissue box on my dryer for used dryer sheets that I use to clean out the lint trap. Ice cube trays are perfect for mixing different colors of paint for your kids to use.
Glass jars are also excellent for display purposes. Instead of having all our seashells just collecting dust on the windowsill, I've put them in a glass jar. Instead of hiding my tiny balls of leftover yarn in a box somewhere, I've arranged them in a gradient in the tallest glass jar ever. My aunt put all her spare buttons in a glass jar which not only looks cute but is also great for finding the right colour when you need it. Oh and speaking of those buttons, they're great as eyes for crochet creatures! :)
This is one of the better videos I've seen on this topic. I won't mention specific sites/pages, but I think most of us have rolled our eyes at some point watching "hacks" that end up costing more, being worse for the environment, or just plain don't work. So thank you for being a breath of fresh air with some really cute and functional ideas! Great ideas, and I like your friendly and down to earth presentation of them. 😊👍
I had a tissue box whose design and colors were perfect for my kitchen so I took it apart and flattened it out and made a photo of it for making 12 digital copies of it and cut and pasted them onto decorative cutting boards, plates, jars, tumblers etc... way easy and cool!
When I wanted a holiday design tissue box, I simply covered it with holiday wrapping paper. No need to buy one. Most of the time I use cloth hankies so box of paper tissues lasts a super long while. ( except if I have a real bad cold, then I go through Puffs fast)
I started years ago with the idea that everything that enters my home must serve at least two purposes before it goes to landill. I thought I'd gotten creative but I lift my hat to you. The best part is that once you start living by this rule you actually bring less and less single purpose items into the home 💜
I love your ideas and it's great to see people re-using and re-purposing instead of filling up recycling bins. You're setting a great example for your kids. I re-use almost all the plastic that produce comes in at the market as organizers.
I like your ideas! I'd like to add to your cereal box one. The liners inside are thick and much nicer wax paper than comes on the rolls. I cut them open and use when I am rolling out cookies or pies, making meatballs etc. I also use them in my craft room whenever I am gluing and painting. I also cut the top half of the bag off and they easily stay open to divide up hamburger or add garden veggies for freezing.
Did you ever do your laundry & find you lost 1 sock? Now you have 1 sock & don't know what to do with it. I put the sock (or at least the toe area & about 4 inches longer) over the top of a container of scouring powder, to keep the powder from drying out & turning hard, before I finish using it. If you think about it there's always a way to recycle anything, if you want to!!
I love your ideas and your enthusiasm. And contact paper! I don't know what I would do without it! For what it's worth, here are some more ideas for repurposing things. Cutlery trays are useful in desks for stationery supplies. Frames are good for command stations in tight places. Those IKEA plastic bag holders that come folded are good for storing gift wrap without taking up much space. Their folded garbage containers (with the holes) are good for holding vacuum cleaner parts. I also use a magazine rack to store the bags for our trash compactor. Both these holders have lasted for years. Cut the tops of storage bag boxes, glue together, and wrap with contact paper. It looks nicer and it's easier to get the bags. I always save the mesh pouches our dental hygienist gives us after a cleaning. They make great pencil cases, cosmetic pouches, travel organizers, and receipt holders. Finally, we don't have garbage collection where we live, so I take my garbage to the dump (saves me about $1,000 per year). The bonus is what I find there. I found two very dated wooden cabinets and several plastic drawer units that I use in my garage to store things - grill accessories, automotive supplies, bike accessories, etc. I even hauled the bottom of a baby crib that was like a peg board and hung the bike helmets over the bikes! I saved $$$!
Love your ideas. I also keep and reuse resealable bags that food comes in. I wash or rinse them out and store leftovers, etc. Or, I use them to throw away stinky garbage. Seal the fish garbage in a resealable bag and throw it away!
When I was a kid ,I am old, we reused just about everything. Cool whip and margarine tubs were our Tupperware. Aluminum foil was used very sparingly and was rinsed off and reused . Shoe boxes were used to store paperwork , sewing gadgets, small toys, scraps for crafting or boxes for gifts. Jars were reused for storage for dry goods, screws, nails, seeds,or small leftovers. Clothes were home made and had a wide hem so that it could be let down to make it longer . Holes were patched ,rips were mended ,socks were darned and old shoes and clothes were play clothes. When clothes were past wearing the buttons and zippers were removed , good parts could be used for quilts and rags were made with the remaining material. We ate leftovers and what we didn’t eat were fed to the dogs or the pig. Dog food was only for when there were no scrapes . Bread bags were used for sandwiches, dirty cloth diapers when away from home and to put over your socks if your boots had a hole in them. Twine from hay was twisted to make rope for animal halters and lead rope. Any paper or cardboard that wasn’t reused was used to start fires in the wood stove.
My favorite repurpose item not mentioned here is the plastic claw type hair holders. I use them to hold my kitchen towel in the oven door handle. My favorite use is to hold back curtains, like cloth tie-backs, but much less $$.
I have recently used the small ones to help hold a blouse on a hanger. I just clipped one on each shoulder of the blouse catching the hanger as well. Clipping a couple directly onto the outer edges of the top of a hanger is also a good way of keeping a tank top from sliding off of a hanger.
This is BY FAR one of the best repurposing videos I’ve seen (and I’ve seen A LOT)!! Nothing fancy or using items that us regular folks never have on hand. 👏 👏 👏
For those who use the pod type soaps that come in large plastic bottles - they make great storage containers for small nonfood items (like craft supplies or small toys) I have also used one to protect my yarn while crocheting. I poked a hole in the lid big enough to thread my yarn through - then just drop the yarn into the container and thread yarn up through lid. I then don't have to worry about dropping my yarn or my pets playing with it. It stays clean and safe as I'm using it.
I love your creativity and resourcefulness! People pay $$ for storage items at The Container store etc but just repurposing what you already have does the job. Thank you for the inspiration!
Love your ideas. I also use the clips for keeping the kitchen towel from falling off of the bar in the front of the stove where I hang it. I just hang the towel, and then I clip the front of the towel to the back. No more towels on the floor.
What great ideas!! Evidently I'm not the only one who hesitates to throw away a cute tissue box that matches perfectly. I'm going to use that idea for sure!!
If you are fortunate enough to have a clothes line, you can use binder clips to dry “hang up” shirts and blouses that you don’t want clothespin marks on. Clip the binder clip over the clothesline, and then insert the hook of the hanger into the rounded wire ends of the binder clip. To keep all your clothes on hangers from accordion-ing together at the low point of your line, separate the binder clips from one another using clothespins. Long explanation, but easy to do.
I reuse ice trays to freeze a variety of foods : squeezed lemon juice with lemon slices to add to drinks or recipes. You could use berries, too, The same with a bag of hatch chilies. Cubes of chilies for recipes as needed.
Love this! Thank you for all the cool ideas 🥰 another one I love is covering cardboard boxes to use as organisers in the linen closet to stop all the pillow cases and washcloths falling all over the place. I use medium size boxes, so diaper boxes from Walmart and some delivery boxes from Amazon. I get my contact paper from the dollar tree too! I recognise the print 😉✨ I use old glass jars in the pantry too! Love it
I love your ideas. I'm very much like you-- I repurpose as much as I can. Another GREAT idea for cereal boxes is to use them to make picture frames. You can either cover them with nice wrapping paper, contact paper OR, if you want to be ambitious, get some batting (used for making quilts) and some pretty fabric and cover it in puffy fabric. These are pretty enough to give as gifts. Using a hot glue gun, it's really easy. Love your idea of using an old eyeglass case to store little things when you travel, too.
I do a lot of these already but got a few new ideas like the pt holder to bangle holder 😊 It is also is nice to see someone else reducing waste by repurposing. For tissue paper holder actually since tissues are expensive I put a toilet paper roll that I use only as tissues in the pretty box.
"Helps you tap into your creativity." I like that. Very encouraging. I've watched, and enjoyed lots of repurpose videos, and have gotten some good ideas. A lot of the ideas you shared are new to me and I'm looking forward to giving them a try. I love repurposing, and your video will allow me to do even more repurposing. The magazine holder ideas... seem so obvious, yet I didn't even think of them. Using large tissue boxes for drawer storage... cool idea. The cereal box ideas... oh yea. I'm gonna have fun with that one. And the list goes on. 😀 Thanks for the great ideas.
Great ideas! I use the binder clips and the Dollar Tree transparent shower curtains to cover my outdoor furniture from the elements in the summer. Works great to hold those curtains in place... to keep my kitchen towels from falling to the floor from the oven bar, I repurpose the wire ties that come with produce... i just tie up the corners together... i cut up the old 100% cotton tshirts into ties for my garden, they will biodegrade by the next year... best!
Well done! We'd all be better off if we re-purposed instead of bought more. When my son was an infant, I had my husband cut paper towel roles in 1/2 and put them in an empty wipe canister and made my own baby wipes. Binder clips are the bomb!
Wow, I love these ideas! You solved the sock drawer problem, the craft supply problem, and so many others. I will be busy making a bunch of these, thank you!
In 1977 I covered a collection of boxes and knocked curtains with contact paper. They were oversize building blocks for my first nephew. In 2021, my first grand nephew played with them. Greatest thing ever.
Omg I love so much the movie night snack tray for the kids!!! I think even the big kids would dig this! I just love repurposing things and I have enjoyed your ideas for things i'd not thought of!
Love the binder clips for sweaters idea. I avoid open cardigans for that reason. Though I run into so many that I really like. Coupling them with colored binder clips sounds like a great idea.
I use a small hair clip to hold my open fleece vest closed. I use the tiny clips that come on orchid plants to clip my too long bangs out of my face. I've also used an earring to close a crochet vest.
Great video! I love the idea of repurposing what we have instead of buying new stuff. I never thought of using a magazine holder for plastic lids and bottles, and I definitely have both that problem and a couple of those hanging around not being used, so I'm going to give that a try. Thanks. :)
I love your ideas! I am a new subscriber. I love to repurpose things and have gotten some great ideas here! I like the pace and clearness of your speaking voice. Keep up the good work!
I really love the idea of reusable tissue boxes, I know that it sounds so "xyz", until you find one that is so artistic or the colors and patterns or phrase is so uplifting that u don't want to part with it 😊 I don't know if anyone else has used mod podge before, they make a dishwasher safe gloss version orange pink and blue label. It's a water-based sealer, glue and finish. I've used it for all kinds of things, not necessarily to to put on the tissue box to make it more durable and to maintain the quality and appearance of the cardboard, but I think that would be a great idea. Your video inspired this trip to the store to give it a go, so thank you for sharing your beautiful and inspiring ideas they really make a difference!!
@@frugalcreativeliving lol full disclosure I actually ended up watching another one of your videos while "getting ready to go to the store " the one that you make natural house and body spray, and I actually had those ingredients which was serendipitous so I made that instead and it turned out fabulous thank you for the video I'm a visual learner so the step by step details and explanation for each thing was so helpful! Appreciate it
Hello from Australia! I just found your channel and I really like the idea of using file tray in your food cupboards...this is an idea I will keep in mind especially the next time I move as I will have to downsize.
Three more ideas: Amazon bubble padded envelopes (blue and white) - turn inside out and use for your own padded mailer, OR turn inside out, roll down the top a couple inches (helps hold shape open) then square the bottom and have a handy little trash can for crafting. (you will have to demonstrate how to make a flat bottom for your viewers, easy, no cutting, fold bottom corners into triangles that meet in the middle, tape is optional!). #3: save the zip close bags your dry foods come in to hold garbage, then zip and trash. Your trash won't stink and be gross anymore and you reused a single-use item!
I've always been the creative type but now even with prices on everything rising. Your useful tips is going to save me a ton of money. Great video. Subscribed!
Just subscribed, you're so creative and loved your presentation. Some of your ideas I have been doing for awhile. I'm frugal and a "save mother earth" older person so am always looking for new ideas.
The sanitizer wipes container. I use it to hold the toilet bowl brush. I also use them, cut down, to start vegetable plants. Thank you for such an informative video.
All great ideas here =D We just moved from a different state and haven't brought all of our belongings yet. I've been saving all of my odd boxes and jars and such to repurpose into storage and other uses. These are great motivation to get me started! Thank you!
Some great ideas! I love the magazine rack for lids. I use empty tissue boxes for desktop trash. Everybody be sure to paint or vinyl paper all surfaces of repurposed cardboard. Naked cardboard attracts spiders.
Thank you for all the wonderful and creative ideas! I have always been fascinated by any kind of re-purposing. I have also figured out that a lot of talented and creative people had to be involved in the original item we use to re-invent. We are just taking (in a good way) advantage of all that engineering process. 👍☺️👏
Thanks for the great ideas. Some of them will actually work for me. I usually watch hacks (I hate that word. It sounds like what a cat does when hacking up a hairball) because you never know what you can pick up. I need to watch this again so I can write down the ideas. My room is small and pretty messy. It’s difficult to clean when you have health problems but I keep working at it. Your ideas are definitely going to make a difference! Thank you!!
Wonderful! I know what you mean about the word "hack". I used it on the thumbnail of my most recent video because people know what you mean when you say it, but the word is annoying to me too, lol.
I've been reusing a tissue box for many years.👍🏻 I do exactly what you demonstrated for the exact reason you stated. And I really do need to replace the plastic sheet that covers the opening ..it's rather shabby at this point.🥴
Really wonderful tips! I use some of these, but you found ways that I never even considered. Thanks for the great information!! Also, thanks for making a video that was not only packed full of great ideas, but concise in length!
I am 72 years old and thought I was the queen of repurposing and frugality. You, young lady , are a genius!!! I turn over my crown to you😊❤
Wow, thank you! 😄
@@frugalcreativelivingI agree you are a gem🌸
Awe, that's so sweet ❤
LOL - You are very cute! I am 74!
I was just going to post the very thing. I’m 69 and love these ideas plus this young lady is absolutely adorable.
So glad to see someone repurposing items like I do. There is so much waste. We can all do this to help the planet and save money.
Absolutely!
I like her channel because she doesn't use expensive tools and re-uses common everyday materials.
Amazing ideas! Thank you so much!
I keep a small tissue box on my dryer for used dryer sheets that I use to clean out the lint trap. Ice cube trays are perfect for mixing different colors of paint for your kids to use.
Great ideas! I'll definitely do the ice trays for paint mixing!
I love these ideas! I love to Crochet also and have a hefty collection of buttons so I will definitely be trying these our! Thanks!
I have a glass jar filled with colorful (mostly vintage) buttons.

I had a tissue box whose design and colors were perfect for my kitchen so I took it apart and flattened it out and made a photo of it for making 12 digital copies of it and cut and pasted them onto decorative cutting boards, plates, jars, tumblers etc... way easy and cool!
Wow! I like that! Thanks!

My favorite repurpose item not mentioned here is the plastic claw type hair holders. I use them to hold my kitchen towel in the oven door handle. My favorite use is to hold back curtains, like cloth tie-backs, but much less $$.
Great ideas!
@@frugalcreativeliving thank you!
I have recently used the small ones to help hold a blouse on a hanger. I just clipped one on each shoulder of the blouse catching the hanger as well. Clipping a couple directly onto the outer edges of the top of a hanger is also a good way of keeping a tank top from sliding off of a hanger.
Great ideas using claw hair holders!
This is what I do. So glad to find a young person with GREAT ideas!!!!!

Yes I agree 👍
For those who use the pod type soaps that come in large plastic bottles - they make great storage containers for small nonfood items (like craft supplies or small toys) I have also used one to protect my yarn while crocheting. I'm a crocheter also and this sounds like an idea I need to try! Thanks!
Great idea!!
Excellent ideas and video. Liked the pace. No wasted stuff and no wasted time either!
Great ideas. Happy to see someone young is repurposing items the way older people do often but in a more creative way. Thanks for the new ideas.
Thought I was the only one to save tissue boxes that match my decor! 🤣
Great ideas here, Sis!
I love your creativity and resourcefulness! People pay $$ for storage items at The Container store etc but just repurposing what you already have does the job. Thank you for the inspiration!
So true! Thanks for watching!
I’m a pretty good re-user, but you’ve blown me away with some of these fresh ideas- even 2 years later. Guess I’m going to have to subscribe!
Thank you!😄
Love your ideas. I also use the clips for keeping the kitchen towel from falling off of the bar in the front of the stove where I hang it. I just hang the towel, and then I clip the front of the towel to the back. No more towels on the floor.
Ooooo! Great idea! I needed that one! Thanks!
Thank you! That never crossed my mind 😉
What great ideas!! Evidently I'm not the only one who hesitates to throw away a cute tissue box that matches perfectly. I'm going to use that idea for sure!!
I re-use large jars for my grains, beans and pasta.
Nice idea!
Good ideas. Can also use full size tissues, usually cheaper, fold in half place in cube boxes
I've been doing that for years!
Wow, I could totally use each of your tips without spending any extra money because I already have everything. Great ideas. Thanks!!
I reuse ice trays to freeze a variety of foods : squeezed lemon juice with lemon slices to add to drinks or recipes. You could use berries, too, The same with a bag of hatch chilies. Cubes of chilies for recipes as needed.
This video was actually really good! Sometimes you tubers recycle the same content over and over but these were original and things I'd actually do!
Thanks!

Wow, I love these ideas! You solved the sock drawer problem, the craft supply problem, and so many others. I will be busy making a bunch of these, thank you!
And, you didn't waste my time. Subscribed.
GREAT IDEAS!! Thank you for taking the time to share!! 😀
In 1977 I covered a collection of boxes and knocked curtains with contact paper. They were oversize building blocks for my first nephew. In 2021, my first grand nephew played with them. Greatest thing ever.
Wow! That's amazing! I love contact paper lol!
@@tilly9749 I've used paperclips when I've lost a button and didn't have a safety pin.
You have a new subscriber. Your ideas are good and your presentation style succinct with good photos. Thank you for the ideas!
Thank you and welcome!
Great video! I love the idea of repurposing what we have instead of buying new stuff. I never thought of using a magazine holder for plastic lids and bottles, and I definitely have both that problem and a couple of those hanging around not being used, so I'm going to give that a try. Thanks. :)
Wonderful!
You just answered my prayer. I need a lazy Susan. I have the marbles the tins. Thank you so much..
Perfect!
Sensible, practical and fun advice. Thank you.
I love your ideas! I am a new subscriber. I love to repurpose things and have gotten some great ideas here! I like the pace and clearness of your speaking voice. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Great ideas especially the large tissue boxes in the drawer and the ice-cube tray.
Glad you like them!
That's an excellent idea! I have some Mod Podge too! I'll give it a try! Thanks 😊.
Appreciate it
Great! So glad it worked out!
Very useful and simple! Thank you!! Love, from Athens,Greece🇬🇷
You are so welcome!
Love it!
I love recycling old household items! Thanks for sharing yours!
We should all be doing these. Always repurpose. Great video! ❤
Definitely!!
The plastic ice cube trays are great for separating the parts that come with furniture you put together........
binder clips are good for sewing too. they hold fabric together without putting wholes in them
Good idea!
Loved the paper towel/bracelet holder idea, it could also be wall mounted for them saving dresser space!
Absolutely!
Totally love these ideas 😍 I have been using a small, clear plastic bag to listen to music in the shower for years!
Love love love your ideas .. thank you for the ideas to start saving money and keeping everything organized.
These are such great ideas! I will have to try the tissue box for my socks and underwear drawer.
Great tips! love being creative AND organized!
Girl you are a creative genius
I love your great ideas and that you are reusing things that normally just get thrown away.
That marble hack blew my mind. TY!
Some good ideas, thanks. I particularly liked the uses for magazine holders as I seem to have lots of those hanging around.
Lots of great ideas. I really liked your idea of using the old glasses cases.
Great!
I love those lazy susans with the pans. I made several yrs ago.
I've always been the creative type but now even with prices on everything rising. Your useful tips is going to save me a ton of money. Great video. Subscribed!
Thank you and welcome!
Just subscribed, you're so creative and loved your presentation. Some of your ideas I have been doing for awhile. I'm frugal and a "save mother earth" older person so am always looking for new ideas.
Thanks! We can save money while we save the earth!
The sanitizer wipes container. I use it to hold the toilet bowl brush. I also use them, cut down, to start vegetable plants. Thank you for such an informative video.
Great idea!!
Amazing rather than throwing away you have found creative yet simple ways. Thank you for sharing
All great ideas here =D
We just moved from a different state and haven't brought all of our belongings yet.
Hmmm... I didn't know that about the spiders! Great point to keep in mind. Thanks!
I love your ideas! I plan to utilize many of them. Thanks!
Thank YOU!
Thank you for all the wonderful and creative ideas! I have always been fascinated by any kind of re-purposing. I have also figured out that a lot of talented and creative people had to be involved in the original item we use to re-invent. We are just taking (in a good way) advantage of all that engineering process. 👍☺️👏
Absolutely! The beauty of one person's creativity is that it can give birth to the creativity in someone else! Thanks for your comment!!
Hanging shoe organizers are so great for so many thing.
I’m new to your channel. It was a RUclips suggestion 🎉 In the first 2 mins. I knew I’d love it! I love to repurpose items. Ty
I've been reusing a tissue box for many years.👍🏻
I do exactly what you demonstrated for the exact reason you stated.
And I really do need to replace the plastic sheet that covers the opening ..it's rather shabby at this point.🥴
Great video. I love that these are practical cost saving ideas in a real, lived in home.
So glad I came across this channel
Omg I use shoe organizers for stuff like that too😁
Super useful 👍🏻
I love your ideas! Empty Plastic egg cartons, one cleaned out, make a wonderful place to hold earrings!
Great idea!!
I use egg cartons to organize jewelry for sale at my yard sales but use ice cube trays to store my own earrings and pins.
Really wonderful tips! I use some of these, but you found ways that I never even considered. Thanks for the great information!! Also, thanks for making a video that was not only packed full of great ideas, but concise in length!
Thank you!
Great ideas! I use glass jars for leftovers. They take up less room than plastic containers.
Thats true!
And they don't absorb the smell of the foods, or stain!
Wow… some really great ideas here. Thanks.
Loved the plastic bag for phone/tablet in the shower-idea!! 😄 That was really new to me. Thank you.
