Rosalind, I'm Amish joined 1985. They save a ton on weddings. First thry don't wear jewelry so no rings to buy. The weddings are held n the church/meeting house the younger boys n girls decorate with wild flowers n homemade stuff. Every church/meeting house has a Bishop n 2 preachers n a Deacon. The Bishop marries the couple. The reception is y Usually held at locL firehall where most males volunteer. The cake is baked by the ladies of the church. They marry in their Sunday go to meeting clothes. Gifts are pragmatic useful items from a huge jug of laundry detergent to 6 day vol work on the bride n grooms farm or house or 2 calves 1 to butcher when a steer n 1 to sell so they can get 2 more calves n Apring. Cards n such r made at home. All this saves a crap load of money it gets everyone together In celebrating the wedding. It shows love all round. A lot of couples starting out could see a lot of money and their stress level would b so reduced. Maybe they could have an Amish themed wedding bringing people together. The most expensive wedding I attended cost$250 the other married men were ready to faint. How can he afford it they said. Another man said his wedding was $103 another $89 another $76. Anyway I think it's much better this way. The average modern wedding costs $35000 then a lot are divorced within 4 years. It makes no sence. An Amish themed wedding would b much more memorable n enjoyable. Weddings like Christmas n such has become so commercialized. And if they divorce the wedding planner wouldne even remember them as its all about money for them.
For laundry; powdered detergent will save money in the long run, I've been on the same bucket of Nellie's for about two years, all you need is a spoonful per load, there's water in the machine anyway so why pay for it in the detergent. And I agree on cold water except for underwears, things that touch the tush should be sanitized. That's what I separate from the rest and do a hot mini load. Also having a drying rack to save on using the dryer is a must, especially in the winter where the air is dry anyway. The best thing I did for my wallet is learn to cook great meals and tailor clothing, I'll thrift and adjust, and I'll stretch that grocery money for a long time.
I'm a single mum who became a homeowner last year. It was a huge milestone for me! Having suffered large impact from covid ,On top of that, I'm also fortunate enough to have a pretty decent monthly income through my successful strategic investments. As a result, I have carefully planned for my retirement after my kids are done with college.
Wow, interesting indeed! Currently I'm in need of investment ideas or tips. Earlier this year I hesitated and failed to take any action until now. However, I'm determined to try some new as I am very open to various investment ideas . I want to be retired in my forties or fifties. I really wish I can achieve what you have achieved and I believe it will happen
It's essential to comprehend the complexities of investing. Having a trustworthy support system, such as a financial adviser, who can advise you is crucial, especially when choosing assets.
Thank you for your advice, it's challenging to find a reliable investment advisor here. Seeing the success you have achieved through investing I would love to have access to your investment advisor.
Generally, investing requires higher knowledge. For this reason, it's important to have a solid support structure to guide you through especially in asset picking. I operate with (ALEX MARTIN TARLOR) an investment specialist who partners with a licensed wealth management firm. For the record, his experience has been the best for my finance
Wow, I'm surprised you know Alex martin tarlor He has been my financial advisor for over a year now and not only do I receive large passive income monthly I am able to achieve 4 out 5 financial goal I have for the year
I watch a ton of frugal videos and you are the first black woman with frugal videos. I'm surprised there aren't more because many not outer moms and grandma's had to be frugal out of necessity to survive. So excited to see a black woman with a frugal channel! Subbed! 😊
Exactly! 💯 To everything you just said!!! I hope to bring a slightly different flavor and perspective to the topic! Thank you so much for commenting and subscribing!
@@jat6547 It doesn't matter what color the RUclipsr is. The vast majority of frugal RUclipsrs Im subbed to are white. I was just saying that's it's nice to see another black woman doing frugality videos because it's so rare. I'm glad she's representing. 😊
The older i get, the less i care about people's opinions. Often in the country i live, items are not priced or incorrectly priced only for us to enter the cashier and see a prize we are not willing to spend for that particular thing. I simply put it back or have them put it back because prizing their items is not my job and neither will i be embarrased at who looks at me and think whatever they want. Yes...overeating is expensive. Microwaving is okey. Wasting food is bad. Great points, dear.
Another trip, pre pay bills by $5 or more dollars a month. Stock up on panty items you use. Buy 1 or 2things a month. Buy things that only on sale or a discounts stores. You will have a great panty, save alot of money, and save gass going to food store.
I was amazed at some of the ‘frugal’ tips on here. I think they must be aimed at moneyed people, not people who are truly struggling! For instance, not eating out, cutting down on meat consumption, buying from second hand shops, cooking from scratch…..they are all the kind of thing struggling people already do as they do not have the money. We were married and bought our first house 43 years ago. aged 21 and only had items given to us to furnish house, and I made curtains. Times got harder when the financial crash made mortgage rates soar and we just had to use all our money on paying the mortgage so we wouldn’t lose the house. I only had clothes that were given to me or I bought in charity shops. Everything was made from scratch, the ends of soap were collected and grated wash clothes. We grew veg in the garden, went out walking or to library, museum etc (free entry) no food was wasted. Anything left over was used next day in soups, pies, curries etc. no clothes dryer, everything dried on outside line and finished off on a clothes horse inside. Heating wasn’t used unless it was frozen outside. More clothing and rugs to put over knees. Heat was never left on when we were out, and never over night. I’m aghast at how wasteful people are and what is considered ‘essential’ basically, if we didn’t have the money, we didn’t buy anything. There were days when we couldn’t eat.
Thanks for your comment! I would venture to say that anyone who is able to watch this video is someone who is "moneyed" or has some kind of income. And there are people who have extremely low incomes but still spend their money on frivolous wants and have very little left for their needs leading to constant utility shut offs, leans on their homes, credit card debt, etc. You made great choices with the little you had. There are people that don't know how to that instinctively and that's who this video is aimed at. Be blessed!
@@frugalcreativeliving yes, you’re right. There will always be people that can’t or won’t budget properly. Also, I am in the UK, and there might be different life expectations/lifestyle. I am proud of how my house was immaculate, as were my children. I knitted and made clothes. My Husband is a proud Man and would not have let anyone know we were struggling. People thought we were well off due to our high standards with little money. Home cooking from scratch is the biggest way to save money.
My grandmother would approve! She would use their paper napkins several times, initializing each with her thumbnail. When they got too grubby for the table, she would put them in a drawer to use for spills on the floor. No new paper towels on that floor!
"Eat less food"! Lol 😅😂 You're so right about that one! All of these thing's are very helpful. I do a lot of them already. I don't think most people even think to set a budget which is a must. Pay attention to prices ,shop sales, use coupons and don't buy unnecessary item's. Save and invest!😊
I make over 100k, but I do 90% of these. The only thing I don’t mind spending my money on is quality groceries. I can wear a $1 shirt, but no junk food. Mostly organic. Great vid.

Woaaah! 72 degrees??? SOOO HOT. Dress for the season. In the winter, there is no reason you can’t wear sweaters and fleece around the house. It is much healthier than keeping the heat even at 70°. What I discovered is that when I keep the thermostat low, WE DO NOT GET SICK. By low I mean about 63° during the day and 59 to 61° at night. We live in New England. If I kept my thermostat where others do, all of my income would go toward paying utilities. That is my least favorite use of my income. You get used to having the temperature lower and it is healthier. When it gets very hot in the summer, I do not use a lot of air conditioning. Just enough to keep the indoor temperature somewhat cooler than the outdoor temperature and to keep the humidity at a healthy level.
I grew up with my parents keeping the heat around 80 degrees which was way too hot for me. Then I lived with my grandmother for 8 years who kept the temp around 65 which was a little too cold for me. When I was single I kept it around 69 but that's too cold for my husband so, we have to compromise and it's still much lower than how it was when I was growing up. It's all relative. We have to balance it out in other ways. Thanks for commenting!
In my area there are little art libraries. There are often full of craft items, crochet projects, and DIY books. Learn a new skill or craft without spending money.
YES to Public Libraries!!! Also while travelling its a great sancuary because you can get help use maps, print directions, use free toilets, computers, wifi, water fountains, and bigger cities sometimes have cafes onsite. Also shade on a really sunny day and refuge on a stormy day. No time restrictions or having to buy a coffee etc just to stay.
I pay all my bills by the 20th of ea month, ahead. NOT on the 20th overdue. That meant that I had to catch up a whole month ahead. My mortgage, car payment, utilities are all paid on this date, and it is so satisfying.
Bob Ross night for date night! Sweet! Board game night is a lost jewel. Going out every night or even week, for entertainment, is over rated. Save those for special occasions and choose the venue wisely to optimize everyone's enjoyment. Good advice video. Subbed!
I'm so glad you have/had a special grandma, and you remember what she taught you and are always giving her acalades and credit to the first and most important school house, the home!
Refill hand soap with a cheap dish liquid and 2 tablespoons of alcohol. put dawn dish liquid into a pump bottles and one pump onto a wet cloth will wash all your with out the water running on water in a sink dishes and then you simply rinse
Absolutely! It took me a while to realize that even though Dawn dish detergent usually costs more than other soaps, it lasts a lot longer and is therefore a better value!

I learned to cut my hair on tube. I really like this. It is not as scary as you think. I've been doing it for 10 years. Do one section at a time to avoid cutting something you didn't mean to. I'll never go back to a salon.
I like your suggestions. I already do most of them. May I add a couple? Avoid using paper towels. Just use cloth napkins and wash those. Go solar if you are a homeowner. If it’s available in your area, invest in solar panels and save on electric bills. (I pay $20.00 a month for heat/ac.) Reuse holiday and special occasion gift bags. Learn about amortization tables if you are a homeowner. Use it to pay off your mortgage years earlier by avoiding interest.
Back when my boys were little, I learned how to do basic haircuts. Fast forward 30 years and I’m still cutting 2 of my “boys” hair and my husbands. I also trim my own and only get mine professionally cut maybe once a year or so. That has saved probably $1,000 or more I’ve the decades. 😅
You have a wonderful channel. Never a wasted minute and basic ah- ha advice. So often the littlest action can make the biggest difference and you help us remember that fact.
Great ideas! I change into OLD clothes while at home, but put on nicer clothes when going out. Love the capsule wardrobe idea! I keep clothes until they completely wear out, then use them for cleaning rags. I've also made my own cleaning solutions, and use cold water for laundry.
I was taught this as a small child. You change out of your "school clothes" into "play clothes", just the same as you do when you change out of your "church clothes" into your "play clothes". Now, in addition to the church clothes change, I do the "work clothes" change to "play clothes".
Instead of dryer sheets, rip off a sheet of tinfoil, crumple it up into a ball, & throw it in the dryer with your clothes. It demagnetizes clothes without the strong perfumey smell that dryer sheets have. The bonus, u can reuse the same tinfoil ball over & over! 🙂
Good ideas! I believe everyone should Live below their means" adjust your lifest, be frugal, budget, save and invest. This helped me out as a 6 figure earner. I've grown over half a million in retirement savings with this method

1. Sanitize a 32oz mason jar. 2. Put a used, or new bar of soap, in your choice, in the mason jar. 3. Fill the mason jar up, shy of the rim, with distilled water. The soap will loosen over weeks time. This homemade body wash can be refilled with distilled water, untill soap no longer lathers. 4. You can mix two teaspoons of solid form of coconut oil (in the jar kind) and two drops of tea tree oil together, and add to mason jar of soap, in order to keep soap from fungus and bacteria. 5. Close jar, with your color choice of plastic mason Jar lids.

Ok now you are talking! Already in the first few ideas I found food for thought! The speed and clarity are excellent! I will try some other videos here due to the worth of this one. Thank you.
I come from another video of yours (my first) and I was happy someone understood that you can optimise money without being cheap. Yet in this video you suggest leaving paper towels to dry for reuse, peeing in the shower or not flushing every time you pee (for example). it's a lot more drastic than frugal or cheap.
I use powdered clothes detergent. Using up to the number one line on the detergent cup. I also have a tap water selection on our machine. I use that, tap. The cost per load is so much less. Also use vinegar in your towel load. I don't know why but our towels feel better. Hang your laundry out to dry. $$$$ saved when you use the sun and and a breeze.
This is a really good video. I've been doing most of these for years and we lived on one income. We gave away between 10-15% of our income. My husband is getting ready to retire and finances are looking pretty darn good. The interest on our investment income will be paying for long term care insurance as well as vacations. I need to work for 6 more years for health insurance and went back to work after the 2 oldest kids were out of high school & went back full time last year. I did make all my own baby food as well which is ridiculously easy and saves a ton as well as breast fed the kids. I always made their birthday cakes and decorated them myself which saved a ton of money. My grocery has a meat mark down and it's where all our meat comes from. They also have an almost expired mark down produce rack where they bag produce for $1. I often get 3 or 4 colored peppers for $1 or 6-8 apples for $1 or a whole bag of zucchini. We make a lot of neat gifts and repair a lot of our own stuff. I learned how to do simple alterations and was able to take used school uniforms etc and alter them to fit. Saved a ton of money over buying new.
I love those ideas, Susan! I often get the "reduced for quick sale" meats but I need to see what my grocery store may offer for produce! Thanks for sharing!
I part my hair down the middle and grow it long. I have a cheap cut (using a coupon as well) once a year or once every two years. I shower once a week, thus saving on shampoo and conditioner as well. (I wash up from the bathroom sink in between showers). There are many ways I save money. (I am going to try a no spend month this January. I enjoy trying to find saving ideas that I haven't heard of before. I have been able to help my Son's and Niece financially because of my being frugal. I share food and meals with others. For me that is the greatest blessing from saving money. I enjoyed this video, thank you.
im a gamer so i play a lot of games. having a pc is a money saver. i always get games on sale and have games with replay value. i always watch anime a lot and have a way to watch movies for free
Hey also if you use aluminum foil you can reuse it as well just wash it with dish soap and let it dry but don't reuse it if you had fish or chicken wrapped in them also if you use storage bags or freezer bags reuse them as well 👍😊
These were some good ideas, but the soap in a sock and splitting the kleenex and paper towels was a bit much lol. Also thrift stores are just as expensive as buying new as far clothes go these days
Tip on growing your own food: if you are not going to grow everything, put an emphasis on the things you love which are expensive to get from the store. For me That means growing tomatoes and strawberries. Both are very expensive around here. I also like cucumbers but they are cheap to buy and they take quite a bit of space to grow…
#31 - electric blankets could be a fire danger and use electricity when you just need a hoody, wooly socks, hot water bottle and a cuppa tea. whats wrong with hotwater bottles or diy rice/oat socks?
I appreciated the concise delivery of a bunch of tips. Not everyone will use all of them, but I think there were quite a number of nice ideas. You got to the point and moved on so I was motivated to watch the whole piece.
I dry everything in a drying rack. Sometimes I'll start really wrinkled stuff in the dryer for a few minutes. Helps get the wrinkles out. Then on to a hanger or rack. Keeps the house more comfortable in the summer too.
What a lovely young woman you are ! I’m in my late 70s and all the things you suggest are great, pretty much like going back in time. I still do most of them, but of course didn’t know about not charging my phone overnight 😁 . Keep up the good work, it’s how a lot of us oldies/boomers got through hard times.
Love this video as its common sense for most of these saver tips. I buy refillable hand soap and and just use half in a re-usable soap pump and add water the rest if the way. That lasts me months. This way I save time to grocery store, money, and less plastic bottles for the landfill.
+THANK YOU I JUST SUBSCRIBED. YOU MAKE SO MUCH SENSE AND I DO ABOUT 30 OF THESE THINGS ALREADY! I LEARNED A LOT AND THANKS FOR NOT USING PROFANITY LIKE SO MANY OTHERS DO. IT'S FAMILY FRIENDLY AND CHILDREN CAN WATCH AND LEARN TOO. I EAT LESS FOOD AND IT REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN MONEY AND WEIGHT LOSS! I HAVE 2 MEATLESS DAYS AND IT IS AMAZING HEALTHWISE AND MONEY WISE. YOU ARE SMART AND NOT CHEAP! THANKS AGAIN!
Here I am finally seeing the light on budgeting. I was raised by a single mom and I remember a few times our lights were cut off and sometimes our bare necessities weren’t met. Now here I am a single mom with no guidance besides online help to figure out how to budget properly. It is a process 😅 I’m 100% confident in my budgeting now. The easiest way I budget is separate everything into three categories. Income | Expenses | Total I do this for every single week and I’ve budgeted everything for the next 10 months. I plan on teaching my kids this technique. It’s the easiest way I’ve learned on my own. Thank you for this video! You are so helpful! ❤
Thanks for sharing! No matter what our beginnings are, we have the ability to learn how to do better and the best we can do is apply it and pass it on to someone else, so - Good Job!

Subbed! 😊

Absolutely!
I actually like making meals at home.
Me tooooo! ,😊
You are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your tips.
Amen, 🙏 lovely video❤
Great tips, I do most but good reminders. I think this is for everyone, even if you have $$$, it's good to be aware.
My grandmother would approve! She would use their paper napkins several times, initializing each with her thumbnail. When they got too grubby for the table, she would put them in a drawer to use for spills on the floor. No new paper towels on that floor!
😄
Our mom would cut the (already cheap 😂) paper napkins in half😉
Use a towel or sponge, wash it later
Love "the eat less food"
The biggest tip i have is stay home as much as possible. Limit trips to the store. Dont sit in drive thru lines wasting your gas.
Staying home definitely makes a difference!
Yes! Just something that simple. Some people feel like they HAVE to get out. A walk does the trick and it's free.
Don't shop on line.
Love this Bob Ross example of a painting night with dollar tree.
Good tips! I was laughing at the tip of “eating less.”😂 Most Americans especially need to take heed!
Right?! 😁
Blue construction/work paper towels can be washed and dried many times. They actually get softer and more absorbent.
My husband gets those from Home Depot sometimes! You're right! They are very durable.
I use fans and open windows during the summer. Close the faucet if no using water and dry clothes outside or hanger

This has been my lifestyle for ever!lol
I always keep.the heat between 64-66. We live in WI. Everyone wears 3 layers inc a fleece hoodie and slippers. Everyone is warm and cozy!
I pay all my bills by the 20th of ea month, ahead. NOT on the 20th overdue. That meant that I had to catch up a whole month ahead. My mortgage, car payment, utilities are all paid on this date, and it is so satisfying.
I know how that feels! Peace of mind!

Avoid using paper towels. Just use cloth napkins and wash those.

Great ideas! I change into OLD clothes while at home, but put on nicer clothes when going out. Love the capsule wardrobe idea! I keep clothes until they completely wear out, then use them for cleaning rags. I've also made my own cleaning solutions, and use cold water for laundry.
Thank you so much for commenting!
I wear an apron when cooking or cleaning too to save my clothes.
I will have to try that one for sure! Thanks!
Reusable dryer balls last super long and work just as well without wasting foil! 🫶🏻

1. Sanitize a 32oz mason jar. 2. Put a used, or new bar of soap, in your choice, in the mason jar. 3. Fill the mason jar up, shy of the rim, with distilled water. The soap will loosen over weeks time. This homemade body wash can be refilled with distilled water, untill soap no
longer lathers. 4. You can mix two teaspoons of solid form of coconut oil
(in the jar kind) and two drops of tea tree oil together, and add to mason jar of soap, in order to keep soap from fungus and bacteria. 5. Close jar, with your color choice of plastic mason Jar lids.

I come from another video of yours (my first) and I was happy someone understood that you can optimise money without being cheap. Yet in this video you suggest leaving paper towels to dry for reuse, peeing in the shower or not flushing every time you pee (for example). it's a lot more drastic than frugal or cheap.
The you gotta use Xtra disinfectant $ to clean piss out shower
I found that using only 1 tablespoon of my generic powdered clothes detergent in my top loading clothes washer cleaned a load of laundry well.
Me too. I only use 1 heaping tablespoon dry laundry detergent.
@@kathyressler4764 Thanks, Kathy!😀
What generic laundry powder do you use? Does it fade clothes?
Your pipes will not freeze if your house is a little below 62F. 45F is generally safe for pipes, 50F is plenty of a buffer.

Hey also if you use aluminum foil you can reuse it as well just wash it with dish soap and let it dry but don't reuse it if you had fish or chicken wrapped in them also if you use storage bags or freezer bags reuse them as well 👍😊
Also plastic bags that 3 bags of milk come in

Also thrift stores are just as expensive as buying new as far clothes go these days
Incredibly practical and good advice. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That makes sense! Thanks for the tip!
I like your ideas. You are presenting your frugal living tips in a positiv way. Very nice.

I dry everything in a drying rack. Sometimes I'll start really wrinkled stuff in the dryer for a few minutes. Helps get the wrinkles out. Then on to a hanger or rack. Keeps the house more comfortable in the summer too.
I've done this as well! The dryer also helps to get that extra lint off the clothes, but the line drying preserves the clothes better.
I love it. Lots of very blunt, straight-to-the-point frugal tips.

Love this video as its common sense for most of these saver tips. I buy refillable hand soap and and just use half in a re-usable soap pump and add water the rest if the way. That lasts me months. This way I save time to grocery store, money, and less plastic bottles for the landfill.

Here I am finally seeing the light on budgeting. I was raised by a single mom and I remember a few times our lights were cut off and sometimes our bare necessities weren’t met.
Now here I am a single mom with no guidance besides online help to figure out how to budget properly. It is a process 😅
I’m 100% confident in my budgeting now.
The easiest way I budget is separate everything into three categories.
Income | Expenses | Total
I do this for every single week and I’ve budgeted everything for the next 10 months. I plan on teaching my kids this technique. It’s the easiest way I’ve learned on my own.
