It worked! Had to get under the sink, but I did it! Thanks for showing this single woman how to DIY.
Nice!
Thank you!!! I saved a plumber call by following your video! And I got "lucky" and didn't have to disconnect the elbow under the sink. It's a St. Patrick's Day miracle! I got so lucky finding your video! Thank you!!!!
Tried this and it worked. Called a plumber they were gonna charge me $150 so I decided to do it myself. Took less than 30 minutes and saved $150 thanks
8 years later and this video is still helping people I unfortunately have a slum lord and after months of him not fixing things my sink clogged and I had to wash dishes in my tub well I found this video and fixed my sink on my own thank you I even fixed the leak in the bottom
nice work!
Thank you! I couldn't get a big enough bucket under the sink so I flooded half the kitchen BUT I did manage to unclog the sink. I'll be washing towels for 3 hours but its better than paying a plumber to come out on a Saturday night!
I loved this video, I am a 60 year young grandma and I unclogged my double sink by following these simple instructions. When I took the pipes apart there was solid grease in them. I previously tried plunging but it never worked. I have been dumping water from a bucket every day when washing dishes. Thank you so much

Thank you for leaving this kind comment Cheryl! I'm really happy it worked out for you.
R.I.P
Great help- I'm an over-50 single mom and I managed to get it done all by myself. The video was clear and very helpful!!!

Came to RUclips after being frustrated with being unable to unclog my double sink. As soon as I saw you close off one of the sinks before plunging the other, I ran to the kitchen and did that and like magic they were unclogged in seconds. THANK YOU!!!!!!
5 am in the morning!...just cleared my drain before work. Thank you my friend!!!
Had a really bad clog on both sides of sink that affected bathroom sink. Your suggestion to add drain plug and plung other side of drain worked like a charm. Great video.
The ol’ “plug up the other sink so you can actually unclog the offending sink with the plunger” technique. Thanks for your help!
Dual kitchen sinks, both backed up at my house. This video provided the simple explanation and remedy I needed to see. Thank you
Yeah this just worked for me. Filled the other side of the sink and blocked it with the stopper. Then filled the clogged sink with water and then used the plunger. Thank you so much
Thank you for the suggestion! I cleaned all my lines first but, the sink still stopped up. I about gave up at this time but, decided to see what I could find on the internet and found your site. I never thought about using a plunger and gave it a try. it took a lot of plunging but, all the sudden the sink started draining. Again, thank you very much for your video.
Don’t comment on videos very often at all but the plunging technic worked perfectly thank you so much!!
I want to tell you to thank you for posting this I had a clogged kitchen drain and I did not have $ for a plumber. This saved me $. Thank you so much!! I used the first method and it worked like a charm.
My clog was also passed both of the downspouts. As you said blocking one drain and plug in the other did the trick without having to unscrew any pipes. Seems like a no-brainer when you think about it. I really appreciate it I've had this issue for a while now. I don't know how anyone in their right mind could give this thumbs down it's really good information.
I've done that with success in the past this time nothing works..
Plunger-nope. Unscrewing the pipes as you suggested-perfection! Many thanks
I had been at this for hours trying baking soda, vinegar, hot water etc...I completely forgot I had the plunger hidden somewhere. After 1 minute into this video, it immediately clicked when I saw the plunger. Found it and in 1 minutes, fixed. Thanks for the reminder 😊.
thanks dude. you totally gave us the exact instructions we needed to fix our problem. legend status confirmed
Thanks Jordy!!
Omgosh! After using the plunger, drano, vinegar and baking soda, boiling hot water, No Bueno. I plugged up the 1 side as shown in your video and used the plunger, and it worked. Thanks for saving me a lot of money.
thanks Sheila glad you got it going!
the plunger method worked. brother you saved my damn life. god bless you. this man speaks truth. yasss.
Thank you!
The first method worked like a charm for me. I went through about 5 other videos before I found this one... Thanks a lot buddy!!
5:20 unplug the pipes under the sink, and then use the sink to clean the pipes. Brilliant!
lol clogged sink inception
You are a saviour. I had to figure it out and plunging didn’t work. Got in trouble for that. Tried the pipe method worked wonderfully. I didn’t know I had so much stuff in there. No wonder it was clogged lol. Thank you. 🙏
Seriously, THANK YOU! The first I had tried before even looking for an online solution. It usually does work. But it hadn't, so quick google search and yours was the first video I clicked. So glad I did. I had to take it apart, but having watched how darn easy it was for you, I figured I'd give it a shot and damn, you easily saved me $75+ (it is Easter weekend, so probably a premium rate right now). I was able to do the job, moving very slowly being the first time and wanting to not make a mess everywhere and be back goofing off on the internet in less than 20 minutes (I drained the water really slow and still spilled and needed towels). And now that I'm confident, shoot, probably 5 - 10 mins. Awesome video and very easy to follow instructions!
Tried plunging my clogged sink before watching this video. 30 minutes later, surprise...sink was still clogged.
I watched this video and 'learned' that I need to place a stopper in the other side of the sink when plunging. DUH! Needless to say, in just a couple of minimal force plunges and about 20 seconds of my time, sink was unclogged.
Not only was your video helpful, it saved me from having to pay a stranger way too much money to come into my house and show me his ass-crack. Thanks my man!
Thx Joshua
Same here , you're not alone. it's not that obvious.
@@leksicon Is there an issue/technique/preventive measure for using a plunger if my dishwasher is also being flooded?
That's why a plumber says to do not have a garbage disposal. great video!!!
Thank you so much for teaching me that I had to cover the disposal sink while plunging the other sink! That worked! Thank you!
Thank you! My sink was clogged and this helped me!
This definitely saved me money. I get to the pipes and whaddayaknow, rice! Lesson learned.
Thank you for this video, my husband put a bowl a rice down our sink too. 😊 I appreciate your help!!!
Wonderful!
Thank God you made this video. I just replaced all my pipes under the sink and it still did not work , tried the plunger trick and it worked 100% you saved me a ton of time and money. Easy Sub
Thank you for making this video to how people unplugged in my step sinks
That worked for me, thanks.I even had to stick an auger in to clear it up more but I wouldn't have made it even that far without your advice.
A nice video. Only comment I have to make is: The direction in which you wind the plumbers tape (actually called thread tape) should be in the same direction as tightening. You went the wrong direction. Tape can unwind when screwing the fitting together.
sounds good thanks for the tip
I can't believe how well unscrewing the pipe and just dumping the contents out worked. Thanks for the guide! I would only suggest to use gloves though because it gets incredibly messy.
Thank you! You just saved me the plumbing fee. The plunger worked wonders.
We had really bad grease that clogged the sink, tried the vinegar/hot water/sodium hydroxide methods but all failed. After all, the simple plunger method unclogged it all! Thanks so much!
Thank you!!! Your video was extremely helpful. I have never done anything to do with plumbing and I got this done in about an hour. Excellent job!
Thanks for the video. I poured boiling water down mine, felt how far the hot water reached the pipes before getting cold. I then used a massage gun lol on the cold pipes to free the clog
thank you! I had previously tried the plunger with no success, but did it again the way you showed and it worked great!!! Thanks!
Thanx for the tips...Just did the plunger thing and it worked like a charm...Whewww...Didn't want to have to mess with pipes to unclog...
Thanks! My husband was out of town, so I had to fix it! It worked! Thanks!
Thank you. Your video helped and my sink is no longer clogged
Genius !! Plunging worked for me 😊bless your soul 😊
2022 the methods shown here do work and are possible by nearly anyone.
The blunger trick worked, thankyou so much🎉
Thanks! My husband was at work, it was my day off and instead of finally sleeping in, I get to thank you for this really helpful tutorial. I had NO idea what to do other than to just go out for a walk and never come home again. I don't smoke, so I can't say I'm goin' out for cigarettes. It's so ICKY and yucky and STANK STANK STANK. Just light the whole thang on fire and call it a day. Thank you for helping me when I had no one in such a ewww moment in inevitable life. Unlike me, you kept it short and simple. Yay.
Thank you so much for posting this very informative video! I know nothing about plumbing! 🤣
Thanks to you I feel so empowered! Done it ALL by myself!!!!💙
Late night spaghetti clogged sink. Lifesaver sir. You just don't know.
This method worked for me. used the plunger several times and splash some nasty water all over butting end it worked.Thank you!
Plunger worked! I was doing it on the wrong side. Thanks!
Great. The first method worked for me. Quick one. Saved me some dollars! Thanks
First method worked for me! Easier fix than i'd think, thank you!
this just saved my life!!! thank you!
omg the plunger worked! But it took a ton of tries thank you so much
First and second method did not work with my sink but taking the elbow pipe out and taking some junk out and a half dollar sized inch think slab of fat did the trick. Thank you so much for the tip...saved us a plumber call and some money. Appreciate it!
if the water flows between the sinks, then the clog is not in the straight section between the sinks. It is usually in the p trap side or further in towards or in the wall on the p trap side. Use a plumbers snake or compressed air or baking soda and vinegar a few times. A tip to help prevent this sort of thing is to use a slotted drain cover on both sides, keep stuff like a chopstick from going into the sink in the first place but allows water to flow. I never have liked garbage disposals they always cause problems, throw garbage food waste in your garbage not disposal.
Agreed 👍 👍 I can't see why if the water flows between the sinks would it be clogged?
Thanks I use the plunger and it really works I'm so glad you post this⚘
I watched about 15 videos showing us how to fix a clogged sink that has a garbage disposal in it, well I used a jug of Mistre Plumber I had in my pantry the seal was unbroken so it was new but a few years old... I also used LA’s totally Awesome Drain Opener. Both were said to be ok to use with a garbage disposal and plastic pipes. The directions said to use hot-boiling water after the fluid had gone down in the sink... I also used 1 cup of Dawn blue dish soap in the mix of ingredients to open my double sink......Good News all of this worked!!! And I used the plunger also
I couldn’t say which ingredient did it, but I told you which ones I used so I hope this helps you. One thing, check the label of the drain opener product, some say not to use them if you have a Garbage disposal also plastic pipes in your kitchen
I need to return a box ofDrano KitchenGranules and a generic opened jug, this jug of drain opener that says not to use if you have a garbage disposal.
Thank you so much for this video! Never knew rice could do this, but that was exactly what my clog was as well. Will make sure we throw that away from now on. D:
Thank you Rummycaek lol!

Instead of turning off the garbage disposal, I left it on and continued to plunge down the flooded side. It took a while, some water came out from the sink while plunging, broke one of my plungers, but eventually, the water was going down little by little until finally, it was completely drained.
Nice work, all it takes is some elbow grease.
Thank you its was real, straight to the point no BS! I did it!
First Method worked in less that one minute! Thank you so much 🤗
Awesome Yazmin!
The plunger worked wonders. Thanks man!
Thank you very much for the plunger idea! It totally worked. Genius!
Second method worked! Would’ve been a five-star success if I’d remembered to plug the sink drains while I loosened the pipes 😣
Rice was the culprit in my sink disposal as well. Fortunately the plunger got it through. Thanks for saving me time.
jumbosilverette mine is turkey fat. *sigh*
Plunger method worked like a charm. Thanks!
4:51 Thumbs up for the chopstick's grand entrance alone! Sounds like the handywork of an experimental child (if you have little ones).
Thank you so very much, my mother was killing me by nagging about her clogged sink and we tried the plunger but it didn't work. but when I clogged the other sink hole and kept using it. it worked like a charm . no plumber needed :)
omg - the plunger worked, since my sink is connected to dishwasher I was sol & of course it's sunday so a plumber was out coordinating both hands was tough but I managed and it worked! Big Thanks.
LIZ LUV RUclips hey thanks for sharing glad it worked out for you!
The first method with the plunger worked perfectly for me. Thank you so much!!! :)
It's easy for me to unblock drain
where do u get a tool like that?
William Rustrum same for me
I tried everything and it didn’t unclog. Did this and it worked right away. Not joking. One plunge
Bout to give this a go. Bless you for the work you did so many years ago 😂
Praise the Lord! In helped in my emergency
Thanks again! Plugging one side and plunging worked for me! 🙂
I used the plunger and it worked, thank you so much
Thank you! Husband doesn't have to come home to a clogged disposal now. And I can do the dishes. 😄
I like your bright, sunny disposition, really. I honestly wanted the hubzy to do it because quite frankly, it's "THE MAN'S JOB" even though us "WIMMINS" needs to get back in the kitchen and bake him his PIE >,< Oh, I wanted him to do it for me because it smelt so unholy. I thought he farted sewage and didn't warn me. He said he didn't and I got on him, as usual. It's cool to see someone not man bashing. It'll help me not bite his head off for nutrition and survival. Thanks!
Oh, after failed repeated attempts of doing the exact same thing with the exact same results, I took a long, luxurious shower with my new Dove foaming body wash. Then I got my arse BACK in the kitchen and the smell took my appetite for destruction of breakfast away. I could smell it all the way from in the living room where I eat heartily in front of tv while ignoring living things around me.
Thank you saved my life, plunging works!
Thanks for the advice. My first time encounter with this problem and that did the trick. Thanks a lot man.
Quick and easy based on the plunger idea. Use a plastic dishpan and fill it with water on the side without the trap. Now use a plunger on the trap side without having to hold on to the drain stopper. Better force for a quick and easy solution.
Thank you this helped right away with the plumber stick
Yo dude thanks so much for this video, just saved a lot of money unclogging the pipes myself. Cheers !
+Positive Soul hey right on!
I bought a drain snake from homedepot but it’s too large cannot put into the sink. It costs me 22 bucks.
After watching your video! I’m lucky! The first method works really well although it takes me some time. I feels like it saved me more than 1 hundred bucks....
Thanks so much!
Thx!
The snake will go into the wall after you unhook the 2in pipe.
Thank u, the plunger worked. Glad i didn't have to dismantle lol
Great video. followed along and saved myself a couple of hundred bucks! Thank you!
that's great thanks for sharing
OMG 😳 thank you so much for this video. I used plunger and water wend down 😊
