Well done you two for sorting those issues out. I love doing bits like that. No need to take it to a dealer and spend hundreds and be without your vehicle for a week. Thanks for sharing. Graham
Thanks Graham in an ideal world I would have liked the dealer to show some interest but of course that was a dream. Often self help is the answer 😁 Trev
My father in law once sold a car because of a persistent rattle. I didn’t realise at the time how annoying it could be. I hope yours goes away. Thanks so much for watching. 😀 Trev
Thanks for that Trev, very informative. I'll keep an eye (and an ear) out for that rattle on ours. As you know, it looks like Swift adjusted the door stop on the Kon-Tiki Sport so it doesn't hit the locker door, but it does mean that the door doesn't open as wide.
Hmmm that’s interesting. It’s clear that Swift are aware of this issue and I am sure that it would cost an enormous amount to redesign and reset all the manufacturing tools etc, but surely that’s what they are good at ? It doesn’t take away the fact that the kon tiki is an amazing vehicle and still a leader in my opinion. 😀 Trev
Top job Trev & Sue, that noise would have driven me mad! A bit of internet research and thought and you've got it sorted. Now people with a similar problem will be able to learn from you, great stuff. Unfortunate about the dint but these things happen. Take care, Martin
Yes, thank goodness we found it. The original dealer certainly didn’t help. We have since found a better dealer which is extremely helpful 😁 thanks for watching 😉 Trev
Awesome , rattle on my swift motorhome deflector has been driving me nuts ,was thinking of silicon around it but found your video ,looks like a great fix ,cheers
It’s was a continuous vibration that would worsen with the wind and speed. At the point of resonance it was deafening. Swift and the dealer were useless so I had to take action. Use the soft neoprene pipe insulation and don’t stuff too much in. Just a couple of strips will be sufficient to cushion the deflector and prevent the vibration 👍🏻🚐 good luck 😃 Trev
Hi from us in NZ. Just had our new Autotrail for a year now and when on the road any rattles I drive & Rob goes & sits in the back to work out where the rattle is coming from! Usually works. Enjoyed your video.
Nice one trev I bet u were glad when u solve the fettle can drive u insane when u can r find where coming v from good idea about covering dent on door cheers kev
Hi Trev, we had awful problems with our Baileys over cab window rattling, due to air flow causing a vibration, after many visits to the dealership we found that the window was faulty and fitted incorrectly, it takes the fun out of driving, going forward it will be unlikely our new van will have an overcab window, more trouble than they are worth, 👍
They really can be a nuisance but ours was the poorly designed valance that is inadequately bolted onto the front cone. The vibration was awful but finding the source was the hardest part for a novice like me. Dealers just don’t seem to like honesty or sharing information. They must have known, or could have found out. Ho hum, I fixed it. 😄 thanks for watching 👍🏻 Trev
Haha great seeing you two work together to hunt out and solve the rattle. We’ve got one in our passenger cab window blind, drives me insane. Might need to get you and Sue on the case 🤣👍🏻
I had same noise from my bessacar last year only ratalled when windy n drove over 50 also damaged my door cos I’d left window open but great advice cheers 👍👍
Your dealer may be able to do a warranty fix for you or if out of warranty you may be able to pay for the modification. Due to the poor relationship with my supplier, I opted to try my own low cost fix. Thanks for watching 🙂 Trev
Rattles can be a right pita to find and solve, so well done on your perseverance and excellent resolution to a seriously annoying issue... 👏🏻 ✅ And, as for little dings, how very annoying is that one! But, again, a great little work around and with plenty of new patches to replace the original with when it shows signs of contact... 👍🏻 🤷🏼♂️ Nice one Trev, cheers, Rog... 👍🏻 😉 🐍
Both those show be fixed by Swift. They are both design faults..?Just hope the pipe lag does not get wet, freeze and expand and split the plastic.. Great that you have stopped the buzzing as that would get to me.. Cheers Trev, Sue
Trev you could of just put a amber reflector on the door in the place as it would cover the damage and protect further and look like it is there to show a reflect if the door is opened at night on a road or parked in services .
Did I miss you saying if the rattle has stopped with the fix? I like the little fix to the door. I wonder if someone will push it thinking it’s a little doorbell?🧐😂
They are plaques in recognition for volunteering with The Caravan Club. I was on the Suffolk Centre Committee for 13 years and attended over 350 events. They are nice to keep on show as we have a lot of good memories 🙂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻 Trev
Hi Trevor we have the same vibration and rattle you had. What was the size of the pipe insulation you used and where exactly did you place it. Was it fastened to the valance or the van.i have noticed on my bolero that it has straps of insulation at the ends of the valance. Thanks Steve
I know some people added tape, mastic or foam to prevent the wind from getting under the valance. I removed the valance and used short 25mm neoprene pipe insulation strips to act as a cushion and reduce the wind getting under the valance and stop movement. It worked. Be careful to allow water run-off in the channels. I used small strips of tape to hold the pipe insulation in place so the valance could be held in place and bolted back with the two fixings. It required two people to lift the valance on and off the van. I hope this helps. 😃🚐 Trev
Thanks so much. I had to cut out a lot of my waffle again as usual but overall I think the Swift vans are pretty darn good albeit a few howling issues 😁 Trev
Hi Trev We have a Swift Bessacarr 599 with similar roof valance as yours. I know you posted this video a while ago now and was wondering if the repair for the rattle was still holding up with no repercussions. Did you gaffer tape the pipe lagging to the roof before replacing the panel and do you leave any spaces for rain water to drain? Hoping to have a go at this as have same rattle. Love the channel, keep up the good work 👍
Clive yes the fix has held up well and no rattle any more. Yes, I used waterproof tape and short lengths so that there is not too much pressure on the Perspex valance and rain can still drain out. I checked the fix recently and all is still ok albeit it was a big green in the gully under the valance, but it probably would be anyway. 🙂 thanks for your question and for watching our video. 🚐 Trev
Susan, yes I think Swift have taken measures to protect the doors on some models now. It seems to have been 2015 to 2017 vans mainly. Thanks for watching and we really appreciate your comments 😄 Trev n Sue
Well done you....I had the sister 2017 Swift Bessacar 496, where Swift & Kimberly were absolutely useless in trying to fix....... Like you the noise was horrendous, as soon as you hit 50mph, totally ruining the pleasure of owning a very expensive Motorhome.....Put me off for life
Unfortunately we suffered the same lack of interest from both the manufacturer and dealer. We went round in circles. It’s not the first time over the years that we had to cure problems ourselves. Thanks for watching and for your comments. 🙂 Trev
Looooooooool I wasn't expecting you to stick it on the door haaaa haaaaa haaaaa, maybe glue a plastic door plate you put on house interior doors that makes finger marks easier to clean off.
Poshcats Camping thank you trev for your comment on my video I think I am going to be busy this weekend sorting out the same noise and rattle with our Motorhome thank you for taking the time to post your video glen

My car has a rattle i wish i could find! So glad yours was resolved!
My father in law once sold a car because of a persistent rattle. I didn’t realise at the time how annoying it could be. I hope yours goes away. Thanks so much for watching. 😀 Trev
Well that got some jobs sorted Trev, very interesting x
Thank you Julie. Teamwork to fix that valance but so much nicer without the rattle 😄 Trev n Sue

Thanks Mark, it was a real relief to resolve that one 😁 Trev
Very cool fix. I know that had to drive you crazy. Glad you found it and got it fixed. Thanks for the cool share. Nice fix on the door as well.
Camper Life thanks so much, we really needed to solve that problem and now it’s done, very satisfying 🙂 Trev
Top job Trev & Sue, that noise would have driven me mad! A bit of internet research and thought and you've got it sorted. Now people with a similar problem will be able to learn from you, great stuff. Unfortunate about the dint but these things happen. Take care, Martin
Thanks Martin. Yes, it’s left to the customers to sort it out on their own again 😣 But it’s done, that’s the main thing. 👍🏻 Trev
Hi Trev glad you sorted the rattle noise as must of been really annoying and the rubber pad was a brilliant idea. Cheers P&J
Thanks P&J we are relieved that one is resolved. Hope you are well, 🙂 Trev n Sue
I love your motorhome! They don't look like that here. Nothing will drive you nuts faster than a rattle you can't find haha !
Yes, thank goodness we found it. The original dealer certainly didn’t help. We have since found a better dealer which is extremely helpful 😁 thanks for watching 😉 Trev
Excellent, well done. Good old team work.
Thank you yes, Sue is always ready to help. I don’t think she will clean the roof for me though LOL 😂 thanks for watching 👍🏻 Trev
That was a great fix on the door. Beautiful RV
Thank you Lee Lee we really appreciate it 😁 Trev n Sue
Well done! I'm sure your glad you solved the mystery! Thanks for sharing!

It’s so much nicer driving in a quiet cab (relatively speaking) 😁 thanks for watching 👍🏻 Trev

Thanks Lindsay, we were so pleased to fix that one. It’s been sorted for a little while now and we are satisfied it’s not coming back. 😁 Trev
Great fixes Trev. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍 Ian
Thanks Ian, never should have taken that long to fix but that’s life 😉 Trev

I guess there is a risk of that but it’s fairly well drained and there is air flow still. 🙂 Good point Kev, will keep an eye on it. 👍🏻 Trev
Trev you could of just put a amber reflector on the door in the place as it would cover the damage and protect further and look like it is there to show a reflect if the door is opened at night on a road or parked in services .
David that’s a brilliant idea. Watch this space I may well do that. Thanks very much 👍🏻😁 Trev
Great video trev and sue
Thanks Debs, Sue is brilliant with these jobs and right there when I need help 😁 Trev
A neat fix Trev 👍😁
Thanks Andrew. I was inspired to do this video by your channel. Your modifications are so good. 😁 Trev
Shake, rattle, and bump. Great fix :-)
So cool, I can hear shake rattle and roll on the radio now 😂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻 Trev
Did I miss you saying if the rattle has stopped with the fix? I like the little fix to the door. I wonder if someone will push it thinking it’s a little doorbell?🧐😂
Birdnest58 yes it’s lovely now. No rattle any more. Love the doorbell idea LOL 😆 thanks for watching 😉 Trev
Hello guys and good fix. I love your van I am full time in an older step van myself😎
Thanks so much for watching and your comments. We were so relieved when the noise was sorted. 😊 Trev
Great video , what were the wooden and brass plates inside the Motorhome above the cab

Poshcats Camping no worries , thanks for replying, I’m in the process of nagging my wife in getting a Motorhome or van conversion

Good video Trevor and although I don't have the same van it's quite informative
Thanks so much. I had to cut out a lot of my waffle again as usual but overall I think the Swift vans are pretty darn good albeit a few howling issues 😁 Trev
Glad you fixed the rattle...If anything next time just turn up the music until you can't hear it anymore lol
Haha that’s a great idea. I have visions of swift Motorhomes all driving round with loud music 😂😂😂 Love your solution though, it’s more fun 😉👍🏻 Trev
Hi Trev
We have a Swift Bessacarr 599 with similar roof valance as yours. I know you posted this video a while ago now and was wondering if the repair for the rattle was still holding up with no repercussions.

Our swift Kon-tiki came with a plastic peace on it right where your damage was wander if they forgot too put it on
Susan, yes I think Swift have taken measures to protect the doors on some models now. It seems to have been 2015 to 2017 vans mainly. Thanks for watching and we really appreciate your comments 😄 Trev n Sue

Will a sticky rubber Jobby fit on the Gas Door Corner too?..2 Rubber Surfaces touching each other better than 1 hard onto Rubber
Thanks for your suggestion, certainly worth a try. I am being more careful now but it’s bound to happen again 😁 Trev
Great investigation and solution. That door is poor design, thanks for the reminder I need some rubber feet for the oven door.
You would think after all these years they would of got it right they should get motorhomers designing the interior
Totally agree. Seems they fix the problems then release a new model. Thanks for watching 😁 Trev
@@SMITHYSKONTIKI Simon, every MH has what could be termed as a design fault, there is no perfect solution as you know - Bob
Glad you solved this, when I cant I call it a ghost in the car lol.
That was a tricky fix. We were stumped for a while. Thanks so much for watching 😁 Trev
It sure is a nice rig, 🙏🙏
Thank you Rhonda, we love it too. Can’t wait for better weather though 😉 Trev
I would put another 1 or 2 on the 1st badge in the end the door glass may shatter .!
Robert certainly will consider. Thanks for watching and comments 😁 Trev
Oh rattle and bump noises drive me crazy. Don't know how you put up with it for so long.
I can’t explain how bad it was. It would disappear for a few days and come back worse 😮 Thanks for watching 👍🏻 Trev
@@PoshcatsCamping yes and that would have made me even more crazy lol
Maybe get a plastic fiat logo and stick that on the door
Great idea. I suggested beware of the dog but Sue disagreed 😁 Thanks for watching 👍🏻 Trev
Looooooooool I wasn't expecting you to stick it on the door haaaa haaaaa haaaaa, maybe glue a plastic door plate you put on house interior doors that makes finger marks easier to clean off.
Mark yes, silly design really but that will fix it for now. I usually tell Sue if the gas door is open now 😃 Thanks for watching 👍🏻 Trev
Hi brilliant video have a look at my video on you tube regarding the gas locker door and door regards glen 👍
Cheers Glen, just watched your video. Almost the same angle as mine. I appreciate your comments 😁. Trev
Poshcats Camping thank you trev for your comment on my video I think I am going to be busy this weekend sorting out the same noise and rattle with our Motorhome thank you for taking the time to post your video glen
Really Bad design, I would be taking this up with the makers
Yes we have taken it to them and they have now changed the design and fixings on the roof 😀 Thanks for watching 🚐 Trev
