- ⭐️ About this Episode:
Learn from our mistakes! If your going into Yellowstone with NO RESERVATIONS and have a large RV, then get into the park early and go to Mammoth Campground on the North side of the National Park! We was told that Mammoth is typically the last campground to be FULL. But there are plenty of pull through sites there.
We also catch 2 Mice 🐭 🐭 on the glue traps!! But there might be more because I seen something late at night move in the RV 😬!!
Our Yellowstone adventures are about to begin so stay tuned for more videos!! Thanks for watching!

Please read so I don’t have to explain this constantly!! About the MICE 🐭! When Laine was at the store I asked her to get LIVE traps but there were none! All they had was old fashion traps, which will not work in a shaky RV, I would constantly be resetting them. Poison bait also is a bad idea with us having small kids.. and glue traps was our only option before going into Yellowstone. Hopefully that helps explain our situation and reason for the glue traps.
I like to buy these kits ( not sure if all states have them). They are black squares n u put the Poison inside. It locks poisoning in place then u snap it shut. Once it snaps it cannot be reopened. Unless u tried those n didn't like... Or maybe it still lil lffie cause of the poison..also Google it there's a certain kind of beans that are actually poisonous to mice and I actually think it's raw lima beans or raw kidney beans but they're poisonous to mice.. all natural way. Lol.
I wouldn’t use regular traps even if I have to
Do what you have to do. At least you got them.
Poison traps are bad because if the animal takes it and leaves and dies and another creature eats it, or eats it even before it dies, that animal is poisoned also. This is happening with owls and other birds of prey because they eat the poisoned rodent and it also dies. Sounds like the sticky traps are best. But you need to find out where they are getting in...🐀
We use the same kind of trap that you used. And I commend you on everything in the video. It's a very good trap to use. But I always accidentally touch the glue on the trap. Lol. And then there's another situation. Lol. You did a awesome job on taking care of the mice situation. That's exactly the kind other RV'ERS use. I praise you.
For the mice you might want to check in to the outlet plug in things that are supposed to put off a sound that keep mice and other things away. I have a friend that swears by them. I know those mice can do a lot of damage. Good luck!
I had someone else recommend that so I’ll check it out. Thanks
My whole life has been about planning, so for me, reservations are a must. Good point on the mouse traps!!!
Grady is absolutely precious, his positive attitude is just enough to get yall through everything :).
Thank you for noticing! He is a great boy!
Love all your honesty, the good, the bad, and the sometimes ugly. It's great to see all the wonderful places you are enjoying. Hopefully sans mice soon! Good luck. Safe travels. And thank you again for taking us all along on your journey.
Thanks for watching
Thank You sooo much for sharing this....and Much Love for doing so. You're such a Blessing!
Thank you 😊
Great job on the film editing! Love your family and look forward to traveling with you guys from the seat of my home. can’t wait for the next video!!! You guys are amazing!!!
Thank you 😊
Lovely video. You guys are an inspiration!!! Thank you for sharing!! 💚
Thanks for watching 😊
awesome video guys. thx for sharing the hard aches of a large rig. stay safe
Oh my, that road looks dangerous from the RV. Last time I drove it I was in a van. Looking forward to seeing again someday. Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
Thanks for watching
I can't wait to watch your next videos , you guys help me a lot . thank you for your wonderful family ......
Thank you
Awesome! Absolutely beautiful place. Thanks so much for sharing! Safe travels!

Mice? Put Bounce sheets around your basement. Keeps them out and makes it smell nice! Used them for 3yrs in a Seacan storage in a field & no mice turds when we opened them up in the fall (they were stored from December 26 to October 15)
Good to know.. thanks
Libby Olson Mice made a nest out of our dry3er sheets LOL
phakodoc I was told they had to be Bounce, maybe they “bounce” the mice out...did you use Snuggle & so they “snuggled”? (Guess your mice didn’t get the memo...”LEAVE!”)
Such beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing! Y’all enjoy! 🤗
Thanks for watching
I would be freaking out on that mountain drive as well. It is beautiful, but nerve wrecking! LOL Stay safe!
It’s the journey, good or bad, I enjoy getting to go with you! Thank You!
God bless Loftis Party of 6! I enjoy getting to spend whatever time I get with you! Till next time!
Awe 😊 thank you so much!!
Thank you for sharing your life and adventures with us
Glad to! Thanks for watching 😊
Put oil on their feet and it will release the mice from the trap. In the woods of course...
My 5 year old was horrified that he threw them away😂🤢😭
@@tmercedes89 so was I!!🤣👍
We stayed at Fishing Bridge in 2017 which is closed until sometime in 2021 while they redo the campground. It was FHU and $$$.Even that campground was tight. Grand Teton has a lot more camping at Colter Bay. FHU $$$ sites are on top of each other however the Colter Bay Campground had very roomy sites with lots of trees. Love that campground.
Spray foams around holes which are water pipes, sewer, gas line and more even Tiny holes and hiding spot too then mice won't smell the foods. Mine is works out.
Kenneth McCann they only need 1/4”. Steel wool works too
You should really use mouse traps. Those glue traps are kinda torturous. That's just my opinion. I still love your channel.
I would have preferred live traps but at the time we needed them the stop didn’t have any. Thanks for watching
Put them out of their misery before throwing them in the trash. Your heel on the head is quick. Tough but necessary lesson for the kids too.
My favorite place. Its gorgrous! We stayed in Idaho in the Mountains at Redrock campground. The stars were phenomenal.
Thanks for watching
Ahhh, that road to mammoth freaked me out when we drove it ! It was terrifying !
West Yellowstone is your best bet... Not too far out of the park and lots of options...
Too expensive out there!! The $20 per night inside the park is more to our liking.
I WISH I had known!!
If you had went just a bit further down Hwy 191 and onto Hwy 287 toward Hebgen Lake you would of found the MOST gorgeous lake front RV Spots !! It's called Yellowstone Holiday RV Campground . Google it and stay on your next travel through ... Lake Hebgen and Quake Lake are in our opinion some of the prettiest areas in Montana ! Looks a lot like Alaska ❤️❤️ if y'all ever need any help with where to goes in West Yellowstone and Lake Hebgen also Virginia City, MT look me up !! I would love to help...
Thank you Diane!!
We are planning trip. 43 foot long RV. Thanks for advice. Is June or July better?
Glad you found a spot! We have stayed in West Yellowstone several times. Have fun you guys!!!
Thank you
Thankyou for the tip, we are presently parked in the truck area you showed us on 287, It is snowing outside, we have our generator on.We have reservations in Mammoth for 8 days.Thankyou so much!
We stayed in West Yellowstone, 1 mile from west entrance, easy access.
Hope you enjoyed your time in Yellowstone. Being Utahns we only live about 6 hours away, and with family only an hour and half outside of West Yellowstone, we get up there almost every year. It never gets old.
That’s right.. never gets old. Thank you
Yay, you made it! Such a beautiful view! Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Lol...you are seeing mice everywhere now. You will get rid of them one day. Part of living in nature.
I'm SO PROUD of Grady! He can take the camera over now. He is awesome on camera! Proud of you Grady!
Look back Laine, the cones might be turned over, after he passes them....lol. Stay safe, and be blessed! From your fan in Alabama!
I’ll let Grady know you said that! He has been wanting to do a kids channel. Thank you 😊
@@LoftisPartyofSix kids channel would be AWESOME! Wow, good for him!
I have spent the night in that very same rest area pull out outside of West Yellowstone. And I also have spent a week or so in Bakers hole campground in 2020 when you were there. Now I believe you can make reservations in it, but I dry camp 95% of the time. Thanks for the video.
Geezer! Not sure my heart could of taken driving on that VERY VERY small HIGH AND LONG WAY DOWN road....lol that is EXACTLY when blind faith is needed and used by me! But it's GORGEOUS!! 💛💛
😆 it really wasn’t as bad as it looked.. thanks for watching
Stop explaining yourselves! Y'all are so awesome and you are CLEARLY good people and parents. If people question you like in the first episode of this season with the carseat ordeal, and now the mice, just ignore them! People need to realize that a video only shows so much. Ignore that hate y'all! 💖 Lainie you insipire me so much! Id love to see a vlog from Lainie's point of view!
Thank you so much Krystal for your support and encouragement! I’ll tell Laine what ya said 😉!
So glad you found a spot. Darn those mice they always want a free ride don’t they. We are dealing with them too. ❤️❤️
Thank you 😊
My RV family love you guys so much we've been watching your videos daily to catch up RV = life
Thank you 😊
Loving your way of focusing on the positive. Beautiful people you are and you deserve the best in everything you choose to do and more so in your shared journey. Living it up and learning 😁💚
Thank you 😊
I love your family! I am 54 and have 5 kids ranging from 15 to 27 years old. My wife and I plan sell our big house in 5 years move south to a much smaller home and buy a super c motor home to do lots of exploring. You have inspired me. One question .... How long is your coach?
Thank you! Our RV is 36’ long. We wish y’all the best in your upcoming adventures!!
Yellowstone is so pretty! Glad you finally got a spot. Those mice are sneaky little suckers. Three gone hopefully that’s all. I can’t wait for the next video! So scary watching you drive in the mountains. Have fun there! Watch out for wild life. Stay safe.
Thank you 😊 but more mice 🐭 to come 😬
WOW!!! GORGEOUS!!! to bad the roads and CAMPGROUNDs weren't made for big rigs..great job getting the family safe and sound..hugs to all!!🤗💕
Thank you 😊
Our son and I drove into Yellowstone via Gardiner early on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012. We found a campsite at Norris easily, but we were just tent camping. We could have stayed there for at least two weeks, but were there from Sunday early morning until the following Sunday evening. He was doing time-lapse videos throughout the park, so we were up early and out late and walked several miles during our stay. I can't wait to go back again.
Sounds like it was a great trip. Thanks for watching
If the world had a few more family’s like yours in it we would have a better place to live. I just love watching your family interact
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for sharing!
That's why I got rid of our 38' motorhome plus the jeep. We bought a new Ford F-150 1/2 ton pickup and a 24' travel trailer. We can get into any park, and lot easier to backup into a spot. We just park the trailer and drive our pickup truck around. Yellowstone campgrounds were designed years ago when people mostly tent camped or had small travel trailers. What I really like is the 2.7L twin turbo ecoboost engine 400 lbs of torque all the way up to highest mountain passes.
What an amazing video! But what a waste of time people commenting about the mice issue 😓.
Thanks so much for sharing great info about your experience driving a large RV. Your video is just what I needed. 😊
It's Friday and I have six kids🤔.... I'm not going to any ball games.. I have barbecue hot fries🍟 & cold Dr. Pepper and reesie cups🍫 I will be back at 10 p.m. it is now 6 p.m. and this will be the highlight of my night lol... #parentlife #nopartyhere
#noclubbin
That’s awesome!! Thank you 😊
Isn’t Yellowstone gorgeous. It is so beautiful to see all the wild life.
Love y’all ❤️
Yep it’s an incredible place! Thank you
FYI.....Amazon has refrigerator door safety latches ...
And steel wool stuffed in holes mice get in ...works pretty well.
Thank you
Hey, for future mice (bc of course there will be more) you can actually get them off the glue trap so they don't starve to death/chew off limbs. Because that's really an awful way to go. You can pour a small amount of vegetable oil on the trap and it'll let them wiggle their way out of the glue.
I know you don't want mice in the RV but glue traps are not very humane. 🙁
I agree.. at that time when Laine was at the store they had old fashioned traps, poison or glue traps so we went with glue obviously. But we did look for and would have gotten the live traps. At that point we just wanted them out as fast as possible. Thanks for watching!!
@@LoftisPartyofSix your adventures are fun to keep up with! And I'm learning that when we DO finally go to Yellowstone, we'd better have a reservation. Haha And hey, maybe someday we'll cross paths! Full-time RV family here, too!
Fc🇫🇮A warm and happy family.👨👩👦👍👍
We never were able to snag a site in Yellowstone. We drove right by that turnout and thought about staying there but ended up going down further and staying in the forest. Love your YS videos.
Your best bet was Mammoth Campground. But we’ve heard great things about staying in the National Forest outside the park too! Thanks for watching guys!!
Love love the video! Yellowstone is nice, but wait till you see Glacier, but do reserve a camp site now, will want to take the jeep going on the " going to the sun highway" pretty steep and curvey road. :-) the elevation is much steeper and rugged terrain . You all will be amazing at that area! God bless you and your family on your adventures in Montana :-)
Glacier is next after Yellowstone! Thanks for watching
I like your video great job.
The screaming that I would have done when I saw the mice. Would have been the SCREAM HEARD AROUND YELLOWSTONE! Lol. I hate anything that slithers and crawls. Lol. Oh how one day I would love to go to Yellowstone. Thank you for sharing the beauty and creations of God.
Thanks for watching
If wished I knew you were going to Yellowstone I would have given you some places to stay and see, looks like you did ok! We’re headed there this weekend
Enjoy your time there! Thanks for watching
Just returned home from Yellowstone, GT's, Mt. Rushmore, Jackson Hole...5,000 miles in 11 days!!!! Camped in YS, was amazing. We arrived at 1130 pm, prayed for just one spot Lord...there was a clipboard with ONE open spot! Stayed one night there and moved to Grants village!!! Amazing!!
That’s sounds like an amazing trip!! Thanks for watching
Was at Mammoth CG in late June for 5 days w/36' 5th wheel (1st night near your site, then moved up to top loop - great views and lots of room). Site at Norris wouldn't accommodate my truck. US89 going into Mammoth is a real 'nail biter', so very narrow for big rigs, I left out Grand Loop to US16 (with quite the climb up Mt Washburn and (Fishing Bridge was a mess with construction). Too many people/crowds and buffalo on the road -- don't go to Yellowstone in the summer unless you want long waits (parking & traffic backups for buffalo). Just love your family and your openness.
That’s right! Thanks for watching
Hi guys! My FIL said to purchase the steel wool/wire wool/iron wool, push the steel wool in every opening to the RV to stuff up the whole, keep the little critters out... they don’t like the taste That will help you keep them out. Be safe and well! Thanks for sharing
Thank you 😊
Looks so fun :) except the mice :P
Agreed 🐭🤦♂️ and Thanks for watching 😊
Wow I bet yor kids loved this! We hope to take our kids possibly even next year to yellowstone. I would have been freaked out also on those steep grades with such a wide heavy rv.
Thanks for watching
Oh I am a sucker for animals so I found that hard that you put live mice in a bin, I totally understand about the live traps. My word you were high up on that road, well done Michael for navigating that and I was with Laine as the drops are pretty scary. Glad you managed to find a pitch xx
Thanks for watching
I wish I could give you a traveling cat called Leo George he is orange. Lol
😆👍
Been there done that on the reservation thing. We have slept in many of Walmart parking lots because of that. Lol Great attitudes, also my husband got 36ft rv because it’s hard to get in some spots with a bigger one, however I know that wasn’t an option for your family. It’s just two of us. Safe travels
Thank you
When you pulled over in the rest stop, do you level up and extend the pullout?
Yes it’s best to level up before you extend the slides. In a motorhome it don’t take long to do that.
I stayed at Fishing Bridge, which is closed this year for renovations, with a 35 foot travel trailer. I made reservations in December (I think) for July. A couple of weeks later I decided to add one more day and called the park but all sites were full. I found out that people will call the first day that you can make a reservation and get a site and hold it even if they aren't sure they can come. If you check the parks website daily, many sites open up later on as people cancel them. I did that and eventually added a day.
Great info! Thanks 😊
Great video!
Thank you
I really like the videos about repairs and maintenance so I noticed all the lights on your dashboard. Do you know what they're all for and if they need repairs?
It’s hard to explain but those issues are fixed but the codes haven’t been cleared
Hi loving your videos. What is the video music?
We went to Yellowstone this past June and we all had a blast! Some areas seem like you are on another planet! So cool to see God’s creations. We wanted to go to Grand Tetons but ran out of time before having to head home, maybe next year as I hear it’s beautiful there too.
Too bad about the mice, hopefully you rid them all soon. They are such a pain to deal with and can cause so much damage. Great video!
Thank you 😊
I call them buffalos too !
We stayed at Baker’s Hole by the West Entrance for $20 a night with electric. Also stayed for Free on BLM land at Carabella’s Recreation Area about 20 mins outside the North entrance
The mice are caught in the basement area of the Class A, not in the main living area. There are no children in the basement .
Your point?
Loftis Party of Six - weROAM therefore poison is ok? For me, kill them quick, poison takes a bit of time to work. Same with glue traps...but need to use what you can get!
Not really mad about the mice but maybe have something to “finish the job” so they don’t suffer a long painful death In that bag lol
😆👍
I almost had a heart attack right along with Laine!! 😱
😆😉👍
Also next time if y'all stay off the NP at one of the campgrounds you wouldn't have to drive your rig even into the park ! Just take the Jeep. There are so many areas you won't even get to pull into with a RV.
Have Fun!! Yellowstone , Arches NP & Zion NP in Utah are our favorites !!
*haven't seen Glacier yet though 😂😂
We did consider that but didn’t want to travel for hours back just to get the RV
I miss Yellowstone!
Us too!
What year is your Itasca? We have a Latitude, 2009.
Ours is an 04. Thanks for watching
May I ask a stupid question. Did you get mice in your 5th wheel also? If so do you get more mice in the class A because more spots for them to get in? Mice are a real fear for me🙅🏾♀️
We never had mice in the 5th wheel, that I know of!
What length is your RV ?
Get some Irish spring soap bars. Leave in the box and put them in your bays. It really helps with the mice
Thanks for the tip
Oh I don't like that driving on the edge😱
Lol we are in Yellow stone park too
Our vlogs are a few weeks behind our actual travels. Hope y’all enjoy it as much as we did.
I have watched this video many times (I fast forward the mice part) and it seems to be more beautiful each time. Thank you all for taking us on this beautiful trip.
Thank you 😊
Hi there! to fix the oroblem of mice/rates keep a cat.they'll run away i promise you.
try KOA in West Yellowstone
How loud is in the RV underway? Do you hear a lot of squeaking?
Not loud at all. Ours is a 2004 so maybe new ones are better.
Man had I know you u we’re out near west you could come down too island park and stay at my rental plenty of room to park ! Maybe next time
Maybe next time
Buy some electronic pest repellers and plug in.. I had a mouse in my apartment, it was gone that evening I plugged them in
I had others recommend that! Thanks
With Fishing Bridge under construction it’s really hurt the large RV campers. Due to COVID construction slowdowns it’s now closed thru 2021 unfortunately. Not having reservations and an RV or travel trailer anymore is just not going to work. They book out a year in advance now except for some tent sites. I hear hotels book out two years, but I can not confirm.
I love watching you guys and your family is beautiful! The life you are living is just amazing and looks so free! I actually learned about boondocking from your channel and can't wait until my family and I are able to live that dream! That really sucks about having mice in the rv and no one wants that but seeing them stuck to that glue trap was so sad and broke my heart. Maybe you guys can find and stock up on some bait and trap ones that don't kill them and then you can set them free once you catch them. I have used them before and it definitely does the trick on catching them in there and this way you can set them free outside far away from your rv and they won't be injured or suffer like they do with glue traps. It's not only mice that suffer with glue traps. Birds and other small animals can get stuck on them as well if the trap gets out and they all suffer that same horrible fate. I still love watching you guys. Just some food for thought.
Thank you. Hopefully you read my pinned comment explaining the glue traps.
You folks put together a nice video. Having said that, I'm seeing a whole lot of driving without seatbelts. Both in the truck and now the class A. God forgives, windshields do not.
Thanks for your concern
How far in advance can you make a reservation at yellowstone?
Not sure. I would check their website
Use 100 percent peppermint oil on real cotton balls placed in a open small GLASS container. Put them in the compartments and under sinks or where ever they may come in..The other we use with the peppermint is Fresh Cab. It also works well. Safe for you and the environment. Smells good also. We use this year round. We do place extra when storing for the winter. Has worked great for the last 4 years. Most bugs and rodents hate the smell. Hope this will help.
Thank you
Mike I Bob Christen Thee Mike Loftis Professional RV Driver . You do a superb job driving your beautiful rig carefully and safely keeping your beautiful children and wife safe & out of harms way along the bi-ways and highways of our beautiful country . GOD BLESS AMERICA !! AMEN !!
Mike has your dad ever had any buffalo or beefalo on his farm ?
😆 thank you!! And no not many buffalo farms in these parts of the Midwest.
@@LoftisPartyofSix Your welcome . Hope you don't get any more nice in the RV .
Hi! I'm planning an RV trip to Yellowstone. Is the road too tight to drive? Is it dangerous to drive an RV in Yellowstone?
Speed limit is low in Yellowstone and the road are good.
@@LoftisPartyofSix Thank you for you reply!
what was the dates you visited?
In late August
we have this on our list but we will make reservations
😁👍
I understand you want the mice gone. However, seeing you throw them away ALIVE. I WAS SHOCKED! All you do on the glueboards when they are still alive is put a little dishsoap or Dawn and pour it at their feet and let them scamper away.
We don’t reserve anywhere. We wing it and if there isn’t campsites available then we move on. We don’t like to be tied down based on reservations.
We are exactly the same way! Thanks for watching
I hate glue traps! ☹️😢
As cooler/colder weather will be approaching, will you all follow the warmer weather? Or does it matter?
We love the cooler weather and the Fall 🍁 season but for winter ❄️ we will probably go south into warmer areas but we have also talked about spending a few weeks in a snowy area. Not sure what exactly we will do yet.
@@LoftisPartyofSix awesome! Choices, but not stressful ones!
I hope you get all the mice out they can really do a job on the Electric system by chewing up a bunch of wires
Yikes.. hope I wasn’t too late getting them out
