I just had this happen to me and was very frustrated. I have a smart tv and this method did NOT work for me. What I ended up doing (which was what someone said here in the comments) was to unplug EVERYTHING. The tv, the Xbox, the power cords, hdmi, everything. Wait 10 minutes then plug it all back in then start up the tv then turn on the Xbox. It worked and my screen is back on
This works! I was losing hope thinking I would have to pay for a repair or open it up and fix it myself but no need. Just a Lil patience. I had to completely unplug everything from the Xbox and the TV power cord as well for atleast 10 minutes and then tried this process and it came right on. Thank you.
to save time when un plugging electrcal devices instead of waiting for a minuite or two you can just turn the power button on while its unplugged this helps dissipate any energy that remains in the system

Thank you so much for this video! I will, however, say that it did not work for me, and I was literally about to take drastic measures. And luckily, I didn’t have to. So when i was holding the two buttons, to do the reset, I had to let mine beep three times. After trying your way several times, I just decided out of pure aggravation honestly, just to keep hold of them longer and then found that it beeped a third time and it finally reset and worked. Either way I would’ve been lost without this video completely so thank you so Much, and if anybody else is having issues doing what he says not working, try holding the two buttons a little longer and wait for another beep!
Note: if the safe mode didn’t pop up for you I have the solution, you might have played with different screens that your Xbox changed the resolution to 1440p. Go to another good screen that support 1440p or 4K and change the resolution to 1080p or 720p. Also enabling CEC is very important to let your Xbox change the resolution automatically depending on the screen resolution. Hope that helps you.
@@georgekasper2087 this is a big problem that needs to be addressed by xbox instead of them just throwing basic troubleshooting resolves that we have already tried. Its honestly appauling ive had this xbox for only 3 or 4 months
@@georgekasper2087 i found out how to fix it freind, first you need to make sure youve unplugged, safe mode wont work if you havent unplugged first then plughed back in. Then you need to hold the sync button and press (PRESS NOT HOLD) the power button and it will boot into safe mode. Idk how i solved this it nearly killed me bro 💀
Whenever I come across this problem it means the Xbox refresh rate Hz is set too high under Xbox display settings. What you have to do is take your Xbox to a really good display tv that supports 120hz display and adjust the Hz display on xbox to 60Hz and not on 120hz. Save these settings on Xbox and now take your Xbox to your tv you wish to use and it should work. I understand if you only have one tv, you’re still stuck, but this is my work around.
Good to know how to video. Son has older One S and if been overnight at friends the console will not connect to wifi. So we have to resort to rest so we can enter our wifi details. Another thing you can do is restart your TV I have a Roku tv and my Xbox was not coming on but I went to another room and tried my older TV that does not have built in Roku and it worked fine so I went back and reset my TV that was having the issue with my Xbox and everything worked fine the only thing I had to do was reset up the game setting for the display

Thanks. This reset worked for me. Interesting thing is when it did come on, it set up like a new Xbox. Seems the device totally reset. Got to the part with the 2 start up chimes. It chimed twice then I let go of the start button but it didn't turn on safe mode as the display was still black. The console did feel a bit warm to the touch so I'll leave it for an hour or two and try again

This does not work for me. When I hold the two buttons i hear power up sound, and then after a few seconds, power down sound and it shuts itself off. I do not get a second power ON sound.

I'm having similar situation on my Xbox One S. No display and the controller is not paired. Checked my router page and the xbox is not connected either. Tried different HDMI cable/displays but no luck. I don't hear any Hard disk failure noise and I can hear the spinning noise. Could it be display port or IC issue ?

I can fix your problems, get a ps5 I was an Xbox user for years. Got a ps5 no issues ever. Sold it when I got out of gaming, just got a series s 3-4 months ago cause it’s the cheapest option for gaming and now I’m having this problem. Unlike everyone else my controller won’t connect I don’t even hear a chime when I turn my Xbox on. Did not work. I followed the video step by step and it went to low resolution upon start up but it did not fully start up. It just sat on the XBOX screen for about 5 minutes and then went to a black screen for I don't even know how long

@@mikesunboxing thank you, I'm surprised you replied. Miraculously, it's turning on again. It was 640p, which means the settings reset worked. I don't know why waiting all night after mashing those buttons did not work but waiting an hour today after doing the same did work.

if the device is a series x it will reset or the version with a disk drive

could be the TV or the cable, worth trying the HDMI lead i think
the problem only seems to happen on roku tvs a simple tv reset fixed it for me
I have done it twice and it hasn’t worked either time. I have a Vizio Tv and I just see a lot of flashy pixels. Anything else I can try?

My problem is the screen isn't entirely black it's got some color but still can't read the screen

This is weird, my series s is on I can tell it’s working since I can hear through a headset but it doesn’t show on my tv, I tried two different tvs and 3 different hdmi leads in different hdmi Ports but no display still, I’ve even connected it to my Xbox one it shows connection but it’s a black screen
need to reset your TV maybe?
I did the troubleshoot but then it just stays on the opening where it says Xbox on the screen then goes to a black screen
Try resetting the tv as well

When I try and go into safe mode I hear the two chimes but nothing even flickers on my monitor and it the safe mode screen doesn’t pop up just no signal. Any help?
reset the tv and the xbox or at least power off the TV for a while completely from the mains

When i go to hold the bind and power button, it only makes the noise once, no matter how long i hold it for. My xbox stopped working in the middle of playing and it gives me an HDMI error with all my HDMI cables that work

no it is just the way that the graphics chip encodes the HDMI monitor data

I've figured out to just restart my tv in the settings on the tv I think it has something with the quick start feature of new xboxs
that might be a factor if the TV doesn't fully support some of the newer standards

@@mikesunboxing hello what do you mean? lol the hdmi is in the hdmi part and the power cord is plugged into the back of Xbox and the wall. This morning it turned on all the way and then started glitching and went back to the Xbox no signal screen .

I was about to go buy a new tv and it finiallt worked , its a pain
i tried this and my xbox does the two beeps but it doesn’t flash the screen i’ve tried diff hdmi cords and diff hdmi ports but no luck i hear my menu and everything. i’m lost 🤷🏻♂️
i’ll try it on a different tv when i get home too just to be sure

Still beating my head into a wall. XBOX series S starting with black screen and unable to bootup into any kind of safemode, I've tried holding down both buttons about 30 times.
try turning the tv or monitor off completely at the wall for a while
@@mikesunboxing thank you, I'm surprised you replied. Miraculously, it's turning on again. It was 640p, which means the settings reset worked. I don't know why waiting all night after mashing those buttons did not work but waiting an hour today after doing the same did work.
