How to fix the black screen of death on an Xbox Series S console.

In this video, I show how to reset the display adapter on the Xbox Series S. For some people, this will fix the dreaded black screen of death. If this does not fix your problem, then of course the problem lies elsewhere. Such as a loose or bad HDMI port. Again, this method will not work for everybody.

Funny how it's effecting xbox in the last couple months ...
I was having the green screen issue. I tried option 2, which didn’t work right away. Gave it about an hour and a half and mine booted back up.

Both methods do not work. I bought off an selling site. But the hdmi cable is a little loose, when inserted in the xbox. HELP PLEASE!

I did the factory reset and it’s still doing it
Then it has to be something different that is causing the problem. It could possibly be an HDMI cord or HDMI cable I would check there first.
Does this work with the green screen, mine is a green screen not a black screen ?
As far as I know, just a black screen. But you have nothing to lose by giving it a try.
Mine is also a green screen and it doesn’t work when o did these two methods. I just got my series s about a month ago, and when I turned it on today, it went straight to a greenscreen. I’ve been looking at ways to fix it, and have found articles, but no videos. Do you have any videos to fix this?
So what if i get a green screen and bot a black one? My xbox was literally just working 12 hours ago. Got off work, turned it on and it was green. Tried to even cast it to my phone via the xbox app and the screen is black there, but i can here everything i press or do. Can hear games and videos running. But jist green screen on the tv.

What exactly do you mean? There should definitely be a power button on your Xbox.
I tried all that on my series s & still nothing shows on my tv but the black screen…my series s literally just turned a year old a couple days ago & it sucks that I can’t even play the games anymore.
If that didn’t work, then you should try using another HDMI cord and then if that still fails to work, it could be your HDMI port has gone bad even if it doesn’t show any physical damage on the outside it could be that the pins are loose on the motherboard of your Xbox and it will need to be re-soldered.
I tried switching tv’s & HDMi cords but yup still nothing. I definitely think it’s the pins or something & you’re right it doesn’t look damaged but it’s definitely something wrong with the port inside.
Welcome If you know how to reset the device while keeping the game, will the game still be stored, meaning the stages you have reached in the game? Another question: Does the old account remain or do I create a new account? Please reply. Best regards
They will not erase the hard drive. In other words, everything will still be there. 👍

My xss is that the controller indicator light stays on for about a minute after turning on, and then goes off. The fan stops rotating for about 15 seconds. Do you know what this is
Honestly, without looking at it in person, I don’t know what it is, but I can take an educated guess and say that it sounds like your HDMI port could be a little loose with the solder on the inside. It would have to be taken apart, and re-soldered for a better connection.

It’s not even chiming for me my Xbox just straight up turns off anyone else ?
For it not to chime is pretty bad that it’s not getting power or that the button is not working.
Mine did that and I air dusted it and worked like new.
I never got the 2an beep
Just keep trying if it doesn’t then there could be another problem.
