Rubbing alcohol is what worked for me, but please be aware that others have spilled alcohol based products (sanitizer) and ruined their canvas. My results were surprising to me and very unexpected.
I experimented with nail polish removers, magic erasers, alcohol, baby wipes and a few other methods to attempt to remove permanent pen marks.
