      black Birkin bag, which was the first good choice I ever made. I can afford a Kelly bag in any color. If I were 25, I'd probably buy it. But now I consciously don't want to associate with a woman who has a Kelly and a Birkin. I have no interest in spending $40k on a bag (a piece of leather + labor = up to $1000) Imagine spending $39k on this brand. Totally unnecessary. If you are also looking for products that are both niche and stylish, *condupcom* is definitely your best choice. There are many treasures hidden here that have not been discovered by the public.

    I watched this video like 10 times. I used your links to buy all products and played,paused,rewound, played again, etc... needless to say, my LV Marly Dragonne GM that I bought in 2017 (Ebay), now looks like it was made YESTERDAY!🎉 From the vachetta, to the canvas, to the zippers... it's SHINNING, CLEAN & SPOTLESS!. If I were to sell it today (which I'm not) it would EASILY fetch $500 in its new PRISTINE condition (pre-loved)! I'm absolutely THRILLED! The best part was the zipper & hardware "BEFORE/ AFTER" --AMAZING 🎉
    FYI: Based on your St. Cloud GM review, I bought that pre-loved too (arrives in 2 days). Now, with the PERFECT cleaning test-run I did today on the Marly, I'm oh so comfortable to clean up the St. Cloud, when it arrives!

      Seriously, who cares if its a fake. I bought the real deal last year and frankly after inspecting it I wasnt THAT impressed with what I paid. And the prices go up every year. Is Chanel increasing quality on the bags? Whats the justification for the increase? Because its helps with the hype. Its a marketing scheme. The more scarce they can make it the more people want it. Theres nothing wrong with this fake. I mean just because the chains dont jingle right LOL,Replica bags are much cheaper than authentic ones, making them ideal for those who are on a budget but still pursue style.

    I have a Damier (Azur, the lighter pattern) and that bag is old and permanently dark on the handles, I just can’t lighten it and have to accept that it’s dark. The only way to color correct it is to paint it, which I’m not ready to do. This is a very good tutorial and very useful for cleaning and conditioning bags…they do need upkeep so the leather doesn’t dry out 👜

    Hi there again always enjoy your videos and tips.... After I have cleaned the canvas on the monogram LV's... Using your methods, I also rub in some Armour all protectant... It not only protects the canvas but also brightens canvas that has become dull and darkened... I know with yours you usually purchase bags in slightly better condition than I do but if anyone is purchasing a really old girl the Amourall Protectant works well.... With the Leather if it is gone too far and just too dark and stained, I either re-colour through dying or using Leather paint... I would be interested in other people's opinions on whether it is sacrilege to re-paint or recolour the vachetta Leather... Or if they think for example a hot pink customisation of the Leather on a LV speedy 25 is a great way to restore an old bag and save her from been possible landfill...

    • @LadyVintageBags
      @LadyVintageBags  7 месяцев назад +2

      I must try the armour all! Thank you for the tip Julie! With painting the bag I think it's a case of different strokes for different folks. I have seen them they are gorgeous... I've just finished a speedy 30 LV in a black/silver mirror finish on the vachetta Leather.... I saw some new LV s in the George Street store Sydney with this interesting silver colour I tried to replicate... unfortunately not much selling.... as the people that usually buy my bags can't afford thousands of dollars for bags but they can usually afford 4 to $800 to have a vintage restored bag however with interest rates and financial stresses no one is buying at the moment :( @@LadyVintageBags

    • @LadyVintageBags

      Hello! I only clean and condition once a year but you dont even have to clean and condition it if you dont want to. If you are very scared about ruining your purse please do a test patch first in an inconspicious location such as the underside of the vachetta strap to check you are OK with the result BEFORE you clean all over. My method DOES CAUSE DARKENING of the vachetta and I am ok with that. If you are not ok with that then do not follow this tutorial because it will cause some darkening.
      I have a tutorial for cleaning the sticky pocket here - warning it is a messy and slow proceess to clean out the pocket ruclips.net/video/oQ-hMPWJb0E/видео.html

    Does metal polish damage the hardware?

    • @LadyVintageBags
      @LadyVintageBags  22 дня назад

      Hello, the polish is abrasive so i use it on hardware that is very tarnished and that can handle it like vintage LV hardware. For example if its for vintage chanel i would only use a minimal amount because the abrasive nature of the polish creates microscratches which is how it works to remove the tarnish.

    I did all steps on my Speedy bag and noticed that, regarding pre-conditioning and after-clean-conditioning, the Vachetta parts of the bag became more dry and less shiny than before cleaning. What can I do to make them more soft and flexible?

    • @LadyVintageBags
      @LadyVintageBags  Месяц назад

      Hello, depending on your climate it can take between hours to days to even up to a week for the conditioner to fully absorb into the vachetta. Once you start using it again and the vachetta is exposed to sunlight again it will start reverting to the more flexible skin like softness and the lustre of the patina will start returning. Cleaning and conditioning vachetta has always been a daunting and anxiety inducing task for me to perform because i usually get panicked if things change on the vachetta but ive found over time that i just didnt get the vachetta enough time to do its thing.
      But it also depends on some other factors aswell such as:
      1. How long did you wait between pre-conditioning then cleaning and after conditioning?
      2. Which product did you end up using for the cleaning? Was it the water wipes?
      3. How much cleaning did you perform? The more cleaning the drier the vachetta will be
      4. How long has it been since you've now cleaned and conditioned the bag?

    • @svitlana1500
      @svitlana1500 Месяц назад +1

      @@LadyVintageBags thank you for replying I live in NYC, So it is not hot and dry here. I used only products listed in your video. 1) I waited 2 hours between pre-conditioning and cleaning. And a night after final conditioning. 2) I cleaned the bag with baby wipes, alcohol-free and with no scent. 3) I didn't clean much because it was my bag that I rarely used and I purchased it new. I used 5 wipes for the whole bag. 4. It has been a night since I conditioned the bag. It is not a big deal and the bag indeed looked cleaner than before, but the vachetta is noticeably drier than before cleaning, also the handles looked dryer than before the cleaning. I was hoping maybe there is another product you recommend to condition the vachetta and handles, which will give them a little shine.

    • @LadyVintageBags
      @LadyVintageBags  Месяц назад +1

      @@svitlana1500 hello! Other than leather conditioners Ive never used a product on vachetta to give it shine before. Usually with use and the oils on my hands touching the bag and the exposure to sunshine the lustre from the patina starts to show through again.

      I realized that the metal on the older bags is brass. Some of the newer bags have gold color over a silver colored metal. So you are right, when the gold fades a silver colored metal shows through. On all of my older pieces, polishing the brass reveals a lovely gold color.
