I just picked one up a month ago. Of course the selller reset the ecu and left me with all these hidden problems. I plan on keeping it and giving it the love it deserves
Im in the same boat - fired mosfet within weeks - replaced mosfets and finding leaky injectors was not the plan i wanted, but what i prepared for - thanks previous owners!
Having owned an old 08 335i, I can say even in today's world, still worth it. True, they aren't the most reliable. Very few cars exist for the price point of a used N54 or N55, that offer performance and power on that level.
This was actually an informational video. I've been looking to get a 335 recently but i don't know if i should go e92 or f30. i think both look great but im not really sure which one
I've own the n54 for like 5 to 6 years and honeslty i don't do that much maintenance other then what expected. I have a friend with the f30 the actually does more maintenance then me and we are both good DIY guys. It all what you do to the cars and how you take care of them. Allt of the issues with n54 are solve. But the f30 have some issues also but those cars are more refine and less rawness and feel then the n54. I would get whatever fits your budget. And go from there.
Done a lot of upgrades on the E92 including the M3 steering rack...inj, pumps, gaskets etc...all of my invoices are around £3000 in 5 years and this thing drives incredible. N54 is for enthusiasts....need to read, learn, knkw how to search good parts for cheap. Is Relative easy to work on...NOTE, I do everything myself
Great info, just a few things to note, b58 cars can make quite a bit of power now too and more reliably from what I’ve seen, and are easier to work on because the engine isn’t as tilted like the in the 335i, which makes the exhaust and turbos very difficult to access (speaking from experience). The only real benefit to the 335i is looks, price, and manual availability, also the 335i has cast pistons but they are pretty stout .If you want to see more n54 like numbers from a b58, the supras can put down more power stock and make more power tuned than the regular b58’s due to a few differences from the bmw b58s, with bolt ones and tuning they can see 470 wheel on 93 octane so they seem pretty promising
this is such a dilemma of mine, ill be ready to make the purchase soon! You left me with maybe just do 340i but with the 335i pull at the end I still kinda want to take the risk of an n54 😂😢
Done the injectors, all the seals, HPFP, and water pump with around £1000....You have to document yourself a little. The inj are also used on other engines ...same manufacturer code but different BMW code with fraction of the price...I find F platform numb...
This might come as a surprise but, Volvo B6284T or Modular 6, would make a good Swap for a BMW (preferably a base model). Couple the B6284T to a transmission that isn’t made of 90s GM plastic and you are all set to make some big power.
enjoyed this... love to both platforms
Great video man . 2011 e92 335is DCT is what I own and absolutely love it .
Ya the 335is is a very special car, would love to drive it one day! Enjoy 👍
I got the 335is 2013 and love it.
I have a 2013 335is and love it but lookin to upgrade to the b58

I have the e92 n54 twin turbo they are amazing but my advice go for the f30 I'm upgrading soon
If you want reliabilty id go with f30. If youre going for looks id say the 335i is timeless. But be ready to spend alot on maintenance.

Good points! 👍
E9x chassis = drivers car
Great Vid! Love my e90 but hate the expenses.
nice video bro
Thanks! 👍

It’s a hard choice you are faced with!
Damn, you know your sheet
Nicely done

After i saw this video B58 feels much more solid option for me, i am not after super high horsepower and reliability is more important factor.
well any 340i in europe cost 30-40k €
335i n54 cost in europe is on avg. 14k €
both great cars but you cant deny the E92/E90 feels way better when driving than the F30s
Bimmers ftw.

Just picked up an e90 335i , traded for my 2007 Mustang GT.
Nice man! Hope it treats you well 👍
in my country e92 335i costs from 18k to 25k, B58 cars cost 40k+ so at least for my home country e92 still wins
Is the e92 335i n55 reliable
its more reliable but you cant push over 500 hp like the n54 on stock internals.
Put it simply. 15k at most you’ll get a good n54/55 25k at the very least and you’ll get a b58
This is why eco cars are made so enjoy it 😂
Bing bang
It's not true - you will not need another 20 grand to put the power down - no way.
