Thanks for a great video. I am looking forward to trying out winging on my isup as soon as these storms pass. I have bought the Duotone drift stopper fin attachment. Fingers crossed that 18 years of kitesurfing will make it a short learning curve and I will be able to get out on my local reservoir rather than a 3 hour drive to the sea. Keep up the great kite video's.
Great Content - keep it up Sam!!
Nice and dreamy, like it!……..different skill set to a cable park, Dave!
Liking the sailing vids 👌
Beautiful ❤
Nice video! Sam, one question - which wing size would you recommend for sup-wing’ing? I plan to have only one wing, which would be mostly used in light winds. Thanks!
Boat looking good Sam!
Thanks!
Dave is giving me major Keefe from Righteous Gemstones vibes.
How is the Dart vs a Slingwing to use for a paddle board with a keal?
Hey Sam, can you recommend any decent beginner wings, that I could eventually progress up to foil with? Great video thanks 🙏
Hey I think most of the wings on the market are suitable for beginners right through to experts, they are all very similar
Hey friend.
What size wing do you think would be good to practice on a SUP and transition to a foil? I'm 5'11 70kg.
it's all about the Wind! where you are and how hard it blows. The lighter the wind the bigger the sail/wing you need. You need a lot more wind to move a big sup on the water than it takes to be on the foil (-98% of the drag). Most recommend a smaller wing to learn on for sure. 4.0-4.5 is a frequent recommendation, small to learn on and then good for the more windy days. For our inland (US) lake situation and very light wind I've got a 6.5, but that's big to learn with. I have a 4.4 that I learned on and use on windy days and the 6.5 most of the time. Ocean needs different of course
That would be nice to have a paddle with you to your SUP board in case the wind drops. So you can paddle back to the shore, but the question "can you pack your wing on your sup board"?
You can pack the wing up on the board, also see 02:36 in the video I show you how its very easy to paddle the SUP and WING back upwind
@@SamLight I travel with a pair of those handle paddles strapped to the board. If you end up having to paddle they make it easier.
Hello! Did you add on your board the center fin box or was it there by default?
he added it. there's a vid on his profile
They sell them on Amazon.
Taking a tender to a yacht to cruise to a launching area doesn't fall under the category of "accessible" for most novices.
Yes - Kiteboarding without the lines is accessible to everyone
👍🤟🤙🤙🤙
What make is the sailboat?

@@SamLight thank you
Fine video and wings are also great for stand-up land sailing: but, sorry, the most accessible wind sport is sit-down land sailing on parking lots on a trike such as a Blokart. I've sailed 6 varieties of boats & boards since starting on water on a Snark in 1974: added windsurfing in 1984, stand-up land sailing on packed snow on a modified toboggan in 1995, stand-up on longboard skateboard 1995, stand-up on ice in late 90s, sit-down on a homemade trike in 2019 & on a Blokart in 2022. No form of sailing is easier to learn or more accessible than sailing a local parking lot (100 ft by 200 ft or larger) on a Blokart (with branded rig or a windsurfing rig). I'm not a dealer, just an enthusiast. My stand-up & sit-down videos can see be seen on RUclips: Delburn Carpenter
I have a couple of mountain boards that I pair with my 6m Naish wing for fun on the beach.
at 00:35 sec. your winching backward...
I'd much rather go laser sailing. This isn't really even that "easy". I mean, Dave's commentary: "It was difficult... I'm sure I'd get the hang of it at some point." It is easier to store an inflatable SUP on a boat than a laser, though.
True, although Dave was being modest as he could do it straight away. Maybe the most accessible is more apt
there wasn't any wind, you have to have wind to do anything/learn.

Wing Foils are annoying. Lol
haha I used to be the biggest wing foil hater as well. Don't knock it until you have cracked it
