Amazing I've had this router for about a year THIS was exactly what I needed to get it at full performance. Not a lot of in-depth content like this definitely earned a sub.
Thank You!
I just want to thank you sir for the most detailed video on RUclips for asus router settings. Speed has literally doubled after the config!!
You are most welcome
Picked up the newer "Pro" version of this Router 2 days ago and I'm loving the Upgrade. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS 2 YEARS AGO! Liked and Subbed just in case you review something I buy in the Future!
Great to hear, Thanks!
I think you explained this easy enough to understand. As I was watching I was going through the same page and left most on the defaults like you had. The only thing I changed was the *OFDMA/802.11ax MU-MIMO* setting to "DL/UL OFDMA + MU-MIMO" because why not, it's allows UL to utilize OFDMA and MU-MIMO.
Absolutely!
I'm a big fan of yours. Thank you for all your instructional videos
You are very welcome, and I appreciate your kind words!
Thank you for going through this in depth with clear explanations. I was looking to maximize the Tx output due to a recent drop in signal quality at the most distant room. This showed that the output was already on Performance. An option to boost it would have been nice. At least with this guide I was able to determine the settings, Thanks!
You are welcome!
Great Vid I could have listen to you for 2 hours very fascinated with this router
Wow, thanks!
Thank you for going through an in depth instruction
You are very welcome!
A lot of the contents remind me about my telecommunication class. It is a great catch up for those knowledge lol.
Good to hear!
Thank you, it helped me understand pro settings! just one issue I checked my setting and IGMP snooping was disabled but it didn't work as you mentioned; I mean when I pause the video in youtube buffering also stopes filling is there any thing else I am missing?
That is a setting of RUclips website, or RUclips App, they are doing that now to relax the traffic load on their servers. It is really annoying and people filed complains because without a good size buffer the video freezes every few seconds. Hopefully they will fix it.
Thanks 🙏 for dual wan balancing will there be a video? Some are complaining regarding wifi 6 AX active is not stable for old 2.4 devices
No problem, and yes I am aware of that issue and it is really frustrating, I will make a video on that pretty soon.
Great video! Thanx a lot!
You are welcome!
Thanks for the video on pro settings its definantley helped me get better speed out of my RT-AX88U (which is similar.) Strangely I have to set 5GHz control channel to manual otherwise I get considerably lower download speeds (even when it's on the same channel.) Must be a bug.
You're welcome, yes it could be a bug, but it can also be outdated firmware or driver on the receiver end. Make sure all you computers have the latest Wireless card drivers installed.
Really good 3 videos, thx
Thanks for watching!
Great, thank you very much
You are welcome!
Thank you so much for this... I realized these settings are for 5ghz channel. Should the same be applied for the 2.4ghz
Yes but for the 2.4GHz remember to keep the legacy device support otherwise your older WiFi equipment will not function properly. In addition to that remember that even all newer smart devices such as smart wall switches, Smart Appliances, and smart lights use 2.4Ghz, because they need longer range instead of wider band width.
I can't find your video on the Mac filer, radius setting, roaming block list. You said you have 7 or 8 videos but I can only find parts 1-3. Should I enable the MAC filter? If I don't want to use it as a wireless bridge, should I change anything in the default WDS settings? Thanks!
Here is the link to that ruclips.net/video/z7qDb4KXTW8/видео.html
Should i keep enabled "roaming assistant" if i have configured AiMesh?
And 2nd question: if i have binding set for a device on one of the AiMesh routers will it still disconnect it if the signal goes below the set dB on "roaming assistant"? (With roaming assistant enabled, of course).
I want to solve the problems with iot devices with weak signal.
Thank you!
Correct, and yes it should automatically switch when the signal gets below the designated threshold.
AWSOME THANK YOU
You're welcome!
Hi, great videos! I have seen as many as I can find of your videos on the Asus router rt ax82u these are:
Part 1,2,3 advanced rt ax82u router settings, Mac filter, WiFi radius, Setup & Basic Configuration RT-AX82U, Legacy Device Compatibility. Are there any others you've made? Thanks 👍
I haven't made any others, but if you see the comment section I did help viewers with some topics that weren't covered on my videos. If you have a specific question I am happy to help if I know the answer of course.
Thanks 👍.
@@howardburkey5761 You are welcome!
Thank you for the video ☻.
Also next time give me all that info you think I don't have to know. That is my type of content.
No problem
Is there a part 4? I found parts 1-3, but I can't find others. I'm only asking because you said there are about 8 videos. I just received my router today. Thanks for these videos.
Here is a link to all of them www.youtube.com/@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101/search?query=Asus%20Router
Good day, thanks for your reviews. Can I request video for Asus RT-AX1800hp review?
Hi, not a problem as soon as I get a hold of one I will do that.
Thank you, my Apple devices work fine with all the ax settings. However my girlfriends Android devices can't connect to the 5 Ghz wifi anymore. I tried to disable all the settings that could cause compatibility issues. Every time I hit save the Android device can find the 5 Ghz network but will be kicked out within a second and connect to 2.4 Ghz even when I stand next to the router. Did not touch the RSI. Any idea how I can fix that or which settings I could try
I fixed it by disabling dfs channel and disabling 160 Mhz
Thanks for this useful and important topic, and I appreciate that you shared the solution with all of us.
Hallo is there any chance that you gonna make a video about QoS. The best setups for gamers , especially for console such as PS4 , PS5, ports forwarding etc. And how to setup manually more internet speed for consoles than for other devices.
Hi, I don't have a video on that, but you can find more info about it on Page 36 of this manual dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-AX82U/E17523_RT-AX82U_UM_web.pdf
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Ok thank you
@@TheBRAVEACHILLES You are welcome!
If I have a low download speed and I'm streaming a movie would this cause buffering issues if enabled, ( I usually wait for half the packets to download before I start to stream.
Yes that is a good idea, or to pause it for a few seconds and then play it again.
Thx you
No problem
I have a Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 and a as that is AC wifi sadly not AX so should i disable MIMO and just stick to your recommendation all my other devices are all 2019 onwards devices.🤔🧐OFDMA only ??? Or is it just trial and error on that count .
I would say trial and error because even the older devices could have different versions of firmware with different mode support coverage.
When I disabled 802.11ax/wifi 6 mode like you stated in your previous video OFDMA/802.11 ax MU-MIMO was disabled is that normal?
I can understand the OFDMA, however the MIMO is an old technology it shouldn't be disabled by disabling WiFi 6
Are these setting you have recommended the best to maximize wireless speeds?
The problem is that if you choose max WiFi speed your old devices will not work, because they will be incompatible. So max speed is only good for people who have a separate router for older stuff, or use the older items on the slow 2.4GHz channel.
hi dear how doing today and i enjoy your yutub channel
Thank you so much 😊
Hi Kalid, I have been through all your videos and quickly looked through the comments, and I can find nothing on wifi extenders. Is the Asus tuf ax5400 compatible with TP-Link extenders?
Damn my Dyslexia(spell checked) for not spelling your name correctly. Khalid?
TP-Link claims that they are but I had not luck with it. Also I tried many different types of extenders and it would cut in-and-out not very impressive. So I put another ASUS router on the other far end of my house which is working great now.
Before spending more money on another router, I might as well try the extenders I have. How do you add them to the Asus router? Thanks
Do you know if Asus allows to make a usage limit on a Guest Wifi Network? Example. Just allowed to use 1 GB and after that the network will not allow to keep navigating/downloading. I know TP Link has this option. I prefer Asus but I have not found that option on the Asus routers.
Yes it has that option, but it will not completely shut off their access, it will drop the speed to a ridiculously low speed that the guests will start pulling their hairs. For more info read pages 33 and up on this manual dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-AX82U/E17523_RT-AX82U_UM_web.pdf
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Thanks for the support.
@@carlosayalamedellin6865 No problem!
IS there a way to decrease the transmission power thru the wireless setting ?
I looked through the manual and I couldn't find a setting to reduce the radio output power, but I might have missed it. So here is the manual for you to look at and see if you can find it dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-AX82U/E17523_RT-AX82U_UM_web.pdf
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Thank you !!!
@@calikokat100 No problem!
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 it doesnt have it...thats kind of strange...it is found in tp link routers under wireless advanced...
@@calikokat100 I know, my 15 year old D-Link router had it too, so I am also shocked as to why they didn't include that. It is very important to control your private WiFi signal if you live in a densely populated area like a high-rise building.
The DTIM interval is better 1 or 35?
Leave it at Default " 1 " because the bigger the number the longer it will take for the remote client device to wake up from sleep.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 hmm, and rts threshold to 50 to not lose the bandwidth?
hi,i cannot chage settings about OFDMA/802.11ax MU-MIMO, because asked me enable the 802.11x/wifi 6 mode first. Should we enable it?, thank you very much
Only enable it if all your wireless devices support it, otherwise you will create too many issues with legacy wireless equipment.
I have it on because of twt one of the best features in my opinion
Not sure why airtime fairness was left disabled. You’re basically letting slow devices drag your network down. Makes a big difference.
Very true, thanks for pointing that out, I completely forgot to mention that. I guess getting old has its tolls ;-)
I have a Nvidia Shield Pro and use Kodi with a RD account so I'm I to understand have "Airtime fairness" option to Enabled then ??? As I stream 4K HDR10 content as well as Dolby Vision.
Interesting video! I don't know why but I can't connect my smart tv and kindle to the network using this router, I tried lots os setups but I don't know what is going on.
Try this settings ruclips.net/video/YWTK0flj5yk/видео.html
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Excellent video, I tried this setup too but nothing works. I get it working using the guest network function and I was wondering if it is right. I mean, don't make any sense to me keep my wired connection working in a different network from TV and everything else. I still can't connect my kindle, but the TVs and smartphones are connected in the Guest Network.
@@Alessandro-pk3yj Try getting the firmware updated, also lower the security levels and make sure you are not at enterprise security levels.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 I did the update of the firmware as sonner I unboxed the router hehe. Now I have everything connected, but everything in the "Guest Network " . I tried lower passwords, separate connection bands and this was the only way I found to let it working. Thanks for the help and patience 🙏🏼.
Hi! Recently I bought the same router as yours. Since I have changed it I'm having issues printing from android devices connected to 5ghz band (wifi 6 connection). From devices connected to wifi 5ghz band (not wifi 6) I can print without any problem. So, I guess that some settings don't allow me to print. Any suggestions?
I think you might want to update the firmware of your Printer, it seems like it is not talking to the WiFi 6 platform.
@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 My printer firmware is up to date. My friend has exactly the same printer like mine, but it is connected to a TP Link Wi-Fi 6 router, and he doesn't have this issue. So, I guess the problem is from my Asus router.
@@cipriangarbau5517 Yes that could be your router. Try to lower the security restrictions on your WiFi 6 network to see if that will help.
@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 In the end, I think I managed to fix the issue with my Brother printer. After I changed the IP manually, the printer started to work normally. Now I can print from my mobile devices too.
@@cipriangarbau5517 Wow, that is strange, but good to know, Thanks for sharing that info.
What wifi standard considered legacy devices> I have several wifi N devices are those legacy?
Legacy is usually referred to devices that use outdated security technology, for example 802.11a, b, and g. AT the moment N is still not totally outdated, but pretty soon it will also be considered legacy.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 appreciate the quick reply and your help. Earned yourself a sub and a fan .

Hi, I had a Asus router DSL ax5400. Same as rt ax82u. I bought this from network provider. Some of the features are disabled. Itried to override the restore original firmware of rt-82u. It's moving to 20% and stop, and says failed firmware. I had other upgraded router rt AC 92u. I want use this as a rt Ax 82u as mesh router. It's not happening.. Could you plz suggest me how to restore stock original Asus firmware. Could you plz suggest me how to restore it.
The ones that are sold to the network providers have custom firmware for that specific machine serial number which limits the usage and features of the router based on the requested settings by the network provider. The standard Generic firmware will not work on these proprietary models. This is also true with the D-Line and Linksys routers. The same goes with proprietary Garmin GPS units that are made for Rental Car companies.
thanks for the reply. now i got the point@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101

hi do you have info on LAN ---> IPTV
Yes here is how www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1011708/
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Thanks. I see that is only good with ethernet cable
@@GPSniper1 Yes, your question was about LAN which means Local Area Network. So you want to use the IPTV via WiFi?
IGMP is for video broadcast. Disable unless you have some kind of IPTV multicast device from your carrier. RUclips, Netflix or any other regular IPTV services DO NOT NEED IT since they ware unicast.
The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) is a protocol that allows several devices to share one IP address so they can all receive the same data. IGMP is a network layer protocol used to set up multicasting on networks that use the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4).
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Yes. It's true. And so only used for broadcasting. 😉
@ Yes I agree ;-)
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 My recommendation for disabling this option in particular in 2.4Ghz is due to bandwidth consumption (wifi is a shared medium). In 2.4 and for RTP (protocol used in broadcasting) since it's UDP based, quality for IPTV is extremely poor with lot of packet losses and will affect other devices behavior. In 5Ghz this is not so important but if you don't have and IPTV service, it's unneeded. So, better keep disabled for wifi and enabled for LAN only if you have this requirement from your carrier. But, it's up to you! 😊
mine has these settings as standard
Yes on some version the factory settings is the optimal setting.
