  • If you are looking to upgrade to a WiFi 6 router that has gaming options too look no further then the Asus RT AX88U. The Asus RT AX88U is simple enough for non tech people to use and set up, but has all bells and whistles to make any tech/gamer happy. One other great benefits to the Asus RT AX88U is that you will be future proofing your home. Even if you don't have WifI 6 devices it is well worth upgrading. The Asus RT AX88U, also has one hidden benefit hiding in the back.
    This video covers the Asus RT AX88U itself as well as range and speed tests, and the user interface.

    Hi Mr. Wanderer,
    This was the best video I found for this router. It could have been the greatest of all time with more info on the private stuff you identified. Obviously without using your private information. You made this video after you set up everything in your home. Perhaps if you went through the set up out of the box it would have been awesome. I am a beginner as you might have guessed. Knowing what to enter where and why would have really helped a whole bunch. Thank you for all that you do it was helpful as it is.
    Thank, Chuck

    Dude Thank You for this very informational video, I really wanted to know if you could set specific times/ days for specific devices to access internet and you told me exactly what I needed and then some. Goodbye Netgear, Hello Asus. Also could you tell me if you have had to reset/ power cycle this router due to lost wifi or other issues?

      I have had this for almost a year now and have only power cycled it two times. Both times I am pretty sure it was actually and ISP issue and not the Asus.

      Was it new or used? It could be that the firmware is outdated as I do not recall what this looked like out of the box. Also, if it was used it is a good idea to make sure that it was not flashed with a differnt UI for managment of the router.

      Yes and yes. Go to qos then select bandwidth limiter and select Target device. From there you can select download bandwidth and megabytes and upload bad within megabytes then press the plus sign to the right to add the rule.

    I currently use this same router as my main and only router, but to get internet connection upstairs I use the Netgear 2000 power line adapters where you plug in one near the router and connect it via ethernet to the Asus router, then the other power line adapter is upstairs and I have an ethernet cable coming out of it and going to an unmanaged 5 port switch. (so I can have my work PC/Xbox One / etc all hardwired for internet)
    But my question is, would it be better to just ditch the power line adapters, and use my second RT-AX86U ( that's just been sitting in the box unused) as an AIMesh node upstairs... And then plug all of my upstairs devices directly into this second Asus router? (As opposed to having cat6 to powerline adapter to router... then upstairs a powerline adapter to cat6 to unmanaged switch. Then 4 cat6 cables going to each of my devices in my upstairs office.)
    Basically I'm new to the whole AIMesh thing but have minimum 3 Asus routers that support it, 2 of them being this exact router you're using. I have a fiber connection, but I've noticed I'll randomly have packet loss etc even though my download/upload speeds are still 200/200mbps even through all of the powerline adapters and 5 port unmanaged switch. Curious if I'd get a faster /less ping connection having the two routers connected either wirelessly or even still using the power line adapters?

    • @Wanderer001_Reviews_Clips
      @Wanderer001_Reviews_Clips  2 года назад +1

      Personally I think Mesh would be the way to go. I don't have any PoI setup in my house that I could test for sure, but have been very happy with the speeds and ping I have gotten over this as a mesh network.

    How the hell do I identify what the clients are in the Client list, everything has weird names.

    • @Wanderer001_Reviews_Clips
      @Wanderer001_Reviews_Clips  3 года назад

      There is a column called "Clients Name". While not perfect it should give you a name that is close to the actual device name or at least the manufacture. It should get you close enough. I also use a networking tool on my phone called Fing to help me out in identifying items on my network. (ruclips.net/video/6SbZqDClZRo/видео.html)

    Hi, great video! I really need some help here. I just bought an ASUS AX82U and the router I switched out was a Technicolour TG799vac Xtream. I also have 1000/100 Mbit/s internet. With my testing, there were literally no difference? On the AX82U, I get 930 with Ethernet cable but with Wi-Fi, with the router 1-2 meters away with 5GHZ, I get 590-600, and I have Wi-Fi 6 on my iPhone 11 Pro. On my PS5 which also has wifi 6 I can’t get over 430mbs. When I then switch back to the Technicolor I get the EXACT same results more or less. Am I missing something here? Please help!
