To be fair when setting up a brand new Wireless Router I don't see changing the SSID & password being used as a big deal. I see changing the SSID & Password used for the Wi-Fi as good security. Sure, you will have to reconnect everything back to the network but that won't take long. Least afterwards you will 100% know there is no unknown devices on the network since you changed the SSID & Password.
I have some big problems with this video. Manually setting the control channel to a setting that doesn't overlap with all your neighbors is one of the most important things to set up, auto almost always sets it to channel 1 even if all your neighbors are on channel 1. This will cause reliability problems. Also wifi 6 mode is fully compatible with all other wifi versions, if the client device doesn't support wifi 6 it will connect with wifi 4 or 5. If you are having problems with wifi 6 mode that's most likely a software problem that has been fixed with software updates in the last year (I haven't had any problems with my AX86u for a long time).
Thanks for the valuable tips, although most of our clients have issues with legacy equipment when they enable WiFi 6. For some reason it doesn't switch automatically to WiFi 4, or 5. About the Auto Scan mine always lands on the best and clearest channel, unlike yours that always picks channel 1. So you might want to do a firmware update on yours. Thanks again for you input.
This was an amazing video! thank you for the series. I never had different SSID names for the different bands, (e.g. SSID-2GHz, SSID-5GHz.) Do you think I will run into problems if I disable the Smart Connect but keep the SSID the same across all of the bands? I would like to avoid reprogramming the hundreds of devices, but I also want to turn off Smart Connect. thank you
The problem is that, how will you distinguish them yourself to pick the best one. It will create confusion and you will end up connecting to the slower 2.4GHz without even knowing it.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 good point. Thanks. But in the end, I will wind up doing what I thought I was trying to avoid: the need to modify over 100 wireless devices, since it is changing the SSID name. I really enjoyed your videos and the way in which you explain things. You would make an excellent professor !
